How does Apigee differ from Azure API Management?

Apigee offers both cloud-based and on-prem options while Microsoft Azure API Management currently only offers a cloud-based solution. Both solutions are easy to use. Apigee allows for the ability to code in any language. It also offers generous flexibility in setting up your workspace based on how you want to manage your APIs, which is a big win for many of our clients. It is great for fast development and also offers excellent support documentation. Microsoft Azure API Management offers source code examples to help developers learn API. It easily integrates with Microsoft/Azure and is a great tool if you are heavily integrated into that ecosystem. Apigee has some lagging and functionality issues with integration that could be improved. It can also be pretty demanding on the infrastructure, so setup costs can be pretty high for onsite deployment. It does not offer the flexibility and customization of other solutions on the market today (including Azure API Management, which is very flexible). More analytics capabilities would be preferred so that we could get a better idea of actual traffic to the space. Conclusions Microsoft Azure API Management is a great solution if you are already heavily invested in the Microsoft Azure ecosystem as it will integrate easily and function seamlessly. However, Apigee offers a greater level of flexibility, It is very stable and scalable. It is a very lightweight solution with excellent technical support.

Apigee's API gateway could be improved. There are some limitations for high throughputs, which we can address. Overall, Apigee is a robust API management platform where we can configure centralized traffic management, but there are a few areas for improvement. The developer experience could be more intuitive, especially for configurations and complex API proxies and policies. Debugging production issues can sometimes be challenging, so more detailed diagnostic and easier-to-use troubleshooting tools would be valuable. The analytics dashboard could offer more customization and deeper insights without requiring additional configuration. Simplifying pricing and licensing would make Apigee more accessible for smaller organizations. I would like better support for cloud-native deployments, Kubernetes integrations, and AI-assisted policy recommendations. I would also like to see AI-assisted troubleshooting, more customizable analytics and developer portal, better enterprise documentation, easier policy configuration, and a simplified licensing model to enhance both the developer experience and day-to-day operations.

Has supported smooth channel partner integration and data analysis for several years

We use the existing services hosted in Microsoft Azure API Management without making any changes. For transformation capabilities, we utilize ADF, Data Factory instead of Microsoft Azure API Management. Regarding security features in Microsoft Azure API Management, we utilize token bearer authentication. As retailers with integration to our channel partners, we haven't experienced any security issues with Microsoft Azure API Management since it isn't exposed to external parties. We use a basic Azure function hosted in Microsoft Azure API Management rather than the integrated developer portal. Tracking analytics and performance analytics in Microsoft Azure API Management is straightforward. We use basic features for performance analytics and log analytics due to additional subscription charges. We enabled log analytics for Microsoft Azure API Management in the past month to investigate issues such as unreachable endpoints or request timeouts.
