Has supported mid-market deployments with cloud-based centralized management and reliable wireless performance
I faced challenges earlier with a limitation of 50 APs in single sites, but that has enhanced to 100 numbers, eliminating that challenge for Aruba Instant On team. Additionally, some features are not listed in the cloud management platform and still require offline access, so enhancing the cloud management features would be better for us.

Centralized management has simplified our home Wi‑Fi setup and supports multiple users reliably
Given my experience with NETGEAR Insight Access Points, my piece of advice for other organizations considering it is that they have to look at the rest of their system because NETGEAR Insight Access Points is quite useless with anything but the Wi-Fi system. I rate this product an 8 out of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product is easy to configure."
"The cost is low, and there is controller-less architecture."
"In terms of stability, Aruba Instant is the best on the market."
"Aruba's mobility features, which facilitate seamless switching between wireless access points, are also quite impressive. Users don't even notice the transition, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted experience."
"This is a good solution that is easy to install and performs well."
"I can implement it at small sites, and I can also implement it at mid-sized locations. It is very flexible. It is really nice and useful for customers who have many small sites."
"The quick setup and automatic code embedded in one access point is really useful."
"In the last couple of years of using it, I haven't had a single technical problem with the solution."
"Our company sometimes uses the solution's technical support, and we have seen that they sort out our general problems quickly."
"The solution enables me to manage my entire network from anywhere in the world."
"This solution has been a big return on investment."
"I am all about simplicity. With the Insight management solution, I don’t need an additional cloud controller, appliance, network manager, or PC/server to configure and manage my access points. You have to look at cost, and everything has a cost. There is a cost to using Insight. But if the cost is reasonable, I don't want another layer. The ability to deploy a network and then have that software built-in, without having to go to a third-party, is big. Also, the less pieces that I have to call in on, the better. So, when I'm calling NETGEAR, it's not like I'm using some third-party piece of software to manage their product. It doesn't add that layer of complexity, which is key."
"The metrics demonstrate that NETGEAR really does a good job of balancing the load between the various access points on the networks and this results in an elimination of downtime."
"[Being] able to configure the WiFi devices and to see utilization remotely, or from the cloud."
"The product's deployment is straightforward."
"I find the centralized management of NETGEAR Insight Access Points very beneficial because we are using five access points, and it is quite useful to be able to manage them centrally."

Cons

"We have faced delay in customer support which has affected our business performance. So the customer support needs to be prompt in their responses."
"I can't use it everywhere. It is not suitable for a big campus area."
"It is good as it is. If anything, its reporting could be improved."
"This solution would be improved if they supplied free software controllers."
"The captive portal through Facebook doesn't work."
"Some features are not listed in the cloud management platform and still require offline access, so enhancing the cloud management features would be better for us."
"If you need to access the master access point the integration between the two becomes quite expensive."
"Aruba Instant can improve by increasing the gigabit range of the switch or by adding additional management features and tools."
"I have some frustrations with the ease of use. It tends to be sluggish."
"The registration is annoying. I have to go back to NETGEAR and log tickets. Access points and router registration are something that they need to address in Insight. They need to fix the bug of getting the devices activated and enrolled in Insight without fighting with them. I have probably done about six of these in the last month. You get to see patterns."
"Due to certain shortcomings in the solution's stability, I feel that the solution's stability requires improvement."
"Software-wise, they need to provide the ability to kick users out. If multiple users are abusing the system or the network, I should be able to block them for a time and, when I need to unblock them, I should be able to do so by using their MAC ID. That feature might already be there and I just don't know about it."
"A con is the backend system which is very, very slow."
"Ubiquiti is a very good company. NETGEAR should look at that model and expand on its remote capabilities. Ubiquiti seems to have a better product."
"The product's UI needs to be simplified and made more straightforward."
"There is always room for improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool's pricing is neither cheap nor expensive."
"Some aspect of the price of Aruba Instant is very economical because if the customer is requiring more features the customer needs to pay a higher amount."
"In terms of costs, Aruba Instant is cheap because it doesn't require a license, but you'll incur charges for the access points. Access point charges could be more affordable."
"The customers do not have to pay for licensing."
"The product is reasonably priced."
"In my region right now, Aruba Instant comes with a default two-year cloud access license."
"Aruba Instant is a free subscription with a limited lifetime warranty."
"I rate the product's price a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive."
"It wasn't much more than 100 dollars a year. For the devices that we have, the pricing was pretty fair."
"The pricing seems to be reasonable."
"Their pricing is perfect for smaller businesses who are money and budget conscious. There are a lot of other solutions out there that are two to three times more expensive."
"I think that the price of the product is reasonable."
"I can source the stuff pretty quickly wherever I go through the distributor. There is pricing available at NETGEAR if you can spend between $2,000 and $5,000 on a solution. So, there is special pricing that they can help with. The vendor's reps are very responsive. They have a good channel system."
"We have some basic models they give without a license."
"Price-wise, it is a little too high, about $20 higher than what it should be, but it's worth it. It's cheaper than Cisco's access point, but the products are not apples to apples."
"My company does not need to pay anything related to the solution's licensing costs."
