Asana and Microsoft Project are leading tools in project management. Asana seems to have the upper hand in flexibility and ease of use, while Microsoft Project excels in detailed scheduling and resource management.
Features: Asana offers viewing options like Kanban, calendar, and list views for project tracking. It allows task customization and integrates with many tools. Microsoft Project offers dependency management, resource leveling, and detailed planning tools for enterprise-level management.
Room for Improvement: Asana could improve its workflow automation, integration with other systems, and notification systems. Microsoft Project has a complex interface and limited integration with other tools, and its reporting features could be more intuitive.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: Asana is deployed in various cloud environments, allowing for easier integration. Customer service is mixed, with some noting responsiveness and others citing delays. Microsoft Project is usually deployed on-premises and could improve cloud integration. Customer service receives mixed feedback on promptness and effectiveness.
Pricing and ROI: Asana is reasonably priced for small to mid-sized teams, offering a free version for basic use. The cost may rise with additional licenses. Microsoft Project can be costly, especially per user, but the pricing is justified by its features for detailed planning. ROI is seen in productivity improvements, though high licensing costs can be a barrier.
Because of Asana, we are not having sprint planning meetings very much. That alone has saved us about 10 hours per week.
There is no need to juggle multiple conversations across different platforms, and the search engine works effectively, allowing for pulling up historical data efficiently, which ensures all pertinent information is available.
However, due to its pricing, I need to be careful about adding each user and feature.
If I can eliminate delays, I achieve good ROI because resources can be utilized to their maximum capacity.
Microsoft Project does help save time and money due to its completeness as a project management solution.
The technical support is of high quality.
No complaints have been heard about customer support for Asana.

There is a website and a connection to AI for support.
I would give somewhere around 10 for my overall experience with support.
Asana's scalability is impressive, as the organization has grown from one facility in California to another in Washington State, increasing the workforce from one hundred to about four hundred fifty to five hundred people without any scalability issues throughout a four hundred million dollar construction project.
Asana's scalability is pretty good because it is cloud-hosted and I know companies with thousands of employees use it.
I have not experienced any stability problems with Asana.

Microsoft Project is a stable product.
I would rate the stability of Microsoft Project as an eight out of ten.
It would be easier if I could assign tasks directly from my email without needing to open Asana.
This UI is good for a power user, but for a normal user who just comes to see what their tasks are, a simplified UI would be more appropriate.
It would be beneficial to have a native option for Asana to create tickets so we could move away from our main ticketing tool.
The worst part is handling too many items, like 1,000 items, which Microsoft Project struggles with, especially when printing.
It would be beneficial to see enhanced reporting functionalities in future versions.
Microsoft Project tends to become very unstable on large project plans with more than 400 lines.
To add one user is expensive, which makes me cautious about upgrading or adding more users.
The issue with Microsoft is that the license is per personnel, making it expensive.
I believe it's usually included in the Microsoft 365 package.
Microsoft Project is affordable, but the standalone Project license should be included in the Office price to increase adoption.
Asana's automation allows me to automate deadlines and send notifications to the right people about approaching deadlines.
Asana has positively impacted the organization by providing clarity for everyone, allowing visibility into who is working on what, from the VP of Operations down to maintenance, ensuring necessary parts are available.
The easy way to get all the analytics at the end of the month or year is the most important feature, and that's why we are still with Asana.
This tool is the most accurate project management tool, allowing me to run a full set of project activities without having to switch between different tools for scheduling and other tasks.
The collaboration features are valuable for controlling the project and transmitting information to other team members when working in a team.
The most valuable features are in the successor and predecessor determination and the tracking tools, such as obtaining data on the S curve financial curve.

Asana is web-based software-as-a-service that helps teams coordinate and manage their work. It helps companies move faster by making sure everyone knows the team’s plan and process and who is doing what by when.
Each user can create projects using a list, board, calendar, or timeline view. Within each project, users can add tasks, subtasks, sections, comments, attachments, start and due dates, and custom fields. Project and task followers get notifications on changes or comments on the project and/or task in their Inbox. Individual users can see all of the tasks they're responsible for across all of their projects in a view called My Tasks.
Asana is available in English, French, Spanish, German, and Portuguese.
