Stands out with portfolios, easy setup, and real-time information, but needs big improvement when it comes to workflows, automation, and dashboards
Their workflows and automation could use a big improvement. I don't even know if they have anything in that regard right now. I would really love to see a way where you can send custom alerts based on a task's completion or status change or an approval coming through. I would love to see a way to get some low-code functionality into Asana because right now, that is a big miss. On top of that, their dashboards are incredibly lacking. The way the widgets connect to the projects, they don't pull the data in the way that I really want them to. When I build a dashboard in Asana versus Smartsheet, I can't pull in data via a custom text field in Asana, but in Smartsheet, I can. That's a huge advantage because sometimes, you just want to report on really niche tasks or a launch date in a specific project or a collection of projects, and Smartsheet's dashboard features will let you do that, but Asana won't. So, their dashboards are lacking, and the workflows are pretty below where the market is right now. I would love to see a complete revamp of how they do dashboards right now. Dashboards are really poor. They don't display information well, and they don't look good. They don't pull in data in an advanced search kind of way. They are very simplistic. If you're a traditional project manager and you're PMP certified and you understand project management, you're going to be very frustrated with Asana's dashboards because they do not speak the language of project management. That's because of the way they are set up. So, I would like to see that completely revamped. It's just not an industry standard.

Helps streamline thought processes of users
There was no need for me to use the tool's integration capabilities. From a ground level, I use the tool to prepare a mind map based on my own thoughts, so I don't see any value in the product. The tangible benefits I have experienced from the implementation of the product stem from the fact that a lot of thought processes are involved, and it also streamlines thought processes. The template helped me to define a lot of functionalities, and understand the functionalities of each vertical. Everything is easy in the product. I have experience with the free version of the solution, so I am not sure about the pricing. Even if the pricing part is considered for the solution, I feel it is really cheap and affordable. When I used to use the product in the past, GenAI was not a part of the tool. AI is not required everywhere. Just because AI is available, it doesn't mean that it has to be everywhere and it is not the right approach. AI probably provides some suggestions to help users. The mobile version looks easier for me. The product offers desktop and mobile versions. The value derived from the use of the product around the fact that the thought process gets streamlined, and you will feel well-organized using the product. I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution scales well."

"It is stable and easy to set up."
"It's an easy way to communicate."
"The general UI shows progress and data analytics for all projects in progress."
"It has helped our departments maintain visibility."
"I love the way it monitors all of the current and past projects, and it sends notifications to keep everything on the track."
"My task box displays all of our tasks, organized by day, helping us to focus on what needs to be done each day."
"Integrations with so many other tools make this platform highly useful."
"As a consultant managing multiple projects, I find Miro's collaboration features highly beneficial."
"The product's initial setup phase is simple and straightforward."
"Online Collaboration made it easy to brainstorm."
"Miro significantly enhances brainstorming sessions."
"The solution's UI is very user-friendly, and it is not that hard to define the shapes you are looking for or to import them."
"Miro's flexibility is a main feature. It provides boards where I can put whatever is needed without limits."
"It is a versatile tool suitable for various tasks, including process modeling."

Cons

"The inbox feature can be a little overwhelming if you are working with Asana just from its project boards and only checking it periodically."
"The documentation for integration could be improved. We require more information to facilitate the integrations."
"The documentation could be enhanced by incorporating more visually informative videos that demonstrate how to accomplish specific tasks. While Asana's community support is valuable for answering questions, finding precise answers often requires sifting through multiple posts. Having concise and explanatory videos would greatly improve the user experience. When searching on platforms like Google, there are many individuals sharing their approaches to using Asana. However, the information provided is often not directly applicable to one's specific needs. Therefore, it would be advantageous to have comprehensive video tutorials that address common user queries. This would provide a more efficient and intuitive way of accessing information, especially when it comes to learning how to navigate and utilize Asana's features effectively."
"The messaging feature could be better."
"You need to have an action plan, otherwise, it won't be as effective."
"The product's page is not user-friendly."
"This solution has a learning curve, where it is initially difficult to use."
"The solution could have a bigger pop-up when someone assigns a task or have a notification similar to Facebook, where you see a number indicating the notifications you receive."
"When I imported an image to Miro, my friend saw it differently from what I saw when I changed the size of it."
"The text customization inside objects needs some enhancement, especially for the text written in rectangle shapes."
"The product subscription is very expensive. The pricing could be better."
"It should have a desktop version."
"I would like to see enhancements in Miro, especially when working with tables like Excel."
"Maybe at some point, Miro should be able to use AI to provide analysis from the brainstorming sessions or files fed into it."
"The solution could be available on mobile."
"I don't see the need to have updates in the product every other month or every other day."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its price is fair. Its licensing cost is cheaper than Microsoft Project. I would rate it a two out of five in terms of pricing."
"The solution's free version can be used for basic functions."
"Price-wise, I think it's an affordable option for mid to large-sized companies."
"Asana has two different types of structures: company vs workspace. Company is really best if all the users you plan to assign work to are all internal (have the same corporate domain in their user ID email address). Once one person signs up (even for a free account) with a corporate email address, Asana will automatically relate that person to that company, if it already exists. If you plan to use it for external collaboration as well as internal, then creating a workspace is a better approach."
"It has a free version."
"We paid a monthly licensing fee for the product."
"There is a free version of Asana, but we use the paid version to receive all the features we want. The overall price is reasonable."
"The cost is $25 US per unit per month."
"The product costs approximately $300 per user."
"The initial cost of Miro was a bit high for me as a small company. However, considering its many benefits and the number of projects I have, it's reasonable and worth the investment."
"The product's price is low. Monthly and yearly subscriptions are available when it comes to the licensing part of the product."
