Bypasses internet restrictions and makes it easy to access content that may be restricted
I use it on my laptop, mobile phone, and pad. I use it for accessing websites such as YouTube and other websites that may be forbidden, especially in China where it is convenient to use the VPN I find it very convenient to connect. And it is a stable product. I would recommend improving the…

Remote access has become seamless and secure while deployment remains simple for our users
Performance could be improved today. People are now moving toward SASE, which stands for Secure Access, Secure Edge Solution. Fortinet also has that offering, which would be easier since it operates through the cloud, acting as a first line of defense. When the user connects to the internet, they connect to the cloud first for posture assessment and monitoring before connecting to the outside world. The impact is significant because nowadays people are adopting SASE. During COVID time, many users were trying to connect back to their office, causing the performance or CPU utilization of the firewall to increase tremendously, which slowed down performance. I have not worked with endpoint telemetry in Fortinet FortiClient that could have been helpful for threat mitigation.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I find it very convenient to connect."
"The centralized management dashboard is also a good feature."
"When the user gets authenticated, I can assign a different VPN or network to each user."
"The VPN has proven to be quite useful."
"The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiClient is dual authentication and the VPN is secure."
"The initial setup is easy."
"This is a solid and stable solution."
"The solution's TNA feature blocks devices from entering the network that do not meet compliance protocols."
"I think the solution is highly scalable."

Cons

"I would rate the scalability a three out of ten."
"The setup process could be more simplified."
"The solution can improve by adding new remote console or endpoint features to make the solution easier to use."
"Occasionally, the solution may provide a slow connection. In addition, there may be initialization and authorization issues that one may need to take care of while using the solution."
"The price could also use improvement."
"Working with Distribution sometimes comes at a cost due to a lack of knowledge of the current status of your licensing and products."
"FortiClient is not communicating with the new version of the firewall."
"While we like patch management, it would be nice if it could handle patch management for other solutions, like Microsoft."
"It has a horrible performance. It is one of the most unstable VPNs I have ever used."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The price is reasonable compared to competitors, it is very good."
"I don't know it by heart, but it is comparable to other solutions. It is based on the number of clients. It is probably 50 Euros per year per client. It greatly depends on the number of clients you're handling because the more clients you are ordering it for, the cheaper it will be."
"Anyone can download this product for free, but you have to have a FortiGate gateway that you are connecting to."
"I don't have the licensing schema for the VPN solution because we just purchased the VPN gateway."
"An annual license costs about 1.5 to 3,000 US dollars. There are no additional costs."
"Its pricing is good. One thing that has always attracted us to the Fortinet range of products is that their pricing is very competitive. Our particular licensing is on a yearly basis. However, as part of this project, we did pre-purchase three years of maintenance and support at a fairly significant discount."
"It is a yearly subscription license. I don't see a problem with the pricing. Resellers add their markup and then give it to us, but I don't see that as a major challenge. It is fine."
"Generally, Fortinet is not cheap. The features that are available for free are only for FortiClient VPN clients, not other solutions. It includes web security, antivirus, and one more feature."
