Automation has transformed data quality workflows and now saves significant time and cost
A quick specific example of how our team uses Atlan to automate a manual or high-risk task is the robust functionality for the quality management of metadata sets. The most helpful thing here is all the dashboards that provide visibility in one place. We use this tool because it is very easy and integrable with other data sources, which is very convenient and time-saving. By switching to Atlan, we have increased our productivity and saved a lot of business time through automation. My team, whether technical or non-technical, adapted Atlan very quickly because of its simple and intuitive user interface. The best features Atlan offers include the ease to extract and modify the data. We can do very quick and smooth integration. It is an open-source framework that provides extension capability to the APIs it uses. Tons of automation help to automate tedious and time-consuming tasks, thereby reducing error and saving time and cost. It is extremely user-friendly and intuitive to navigate, especially the user interface. Atlan has positively impacted my organization by saving time and money while consolidating our metadata sets. Integration with Amazon and Tableau have definitely sped up our time to value. We have saved fifty-five percent of our time through the automation of tedious and time-consuming tasks. Extraction of data is easy. In this data catalog solution, data modification is really simple and easy. Integration with other software is very seamless and easy, thereby simplifying our workflow. Atlan is very scalable and helps to grow our organization while catering to our needs. It enables the team to automate manual and high-risk tasks to make them error-free as much as possible and save time and cost. It is a very cost-effective tool that should be highly adaptable and usable in any organization.

Great language features allow users to interact with the solution in their own language, and ROI can be seen within weeks
The initial setup is completely straightforward and not complex at all. The system is not invasive. It connects directly through your agents to your database. There's no integration or migration process needed, and it's very simple. The time to go live is minimum. You can have it running in two weeks. Since it's a solution for corporate governance, you need to have a data governance steering committee that's going to drive the project in the organization. One of the key benefits of the solution is that it's directly for the user, so you don't need anyone else for setup but the real user, the person that wants to get the best out of their data. You start with the business owner, and they define their business needs. They see what data you need, how you're going to use it, and what's going to be corrected. Then you start playing the data stewards, and that's all that you need.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best feature of Atlan is its integration with communication platforms like Microsoft Teams and Slack, so business users don't have to go into a data catalog to see metadata about data assets."
"The interfaces and automated imports have helped me with transparency, as we have different sources from different techniques such as DBT, Snowflake, and other regular databases, making it effective to connect these sources and navigate through them, filter them, and enrich the data with additional meter information."
"By switching to Atlan, we have increased our productivity and saved a lot of business time through automation."
"Atlas is quite intuitive."
"Overall, I rate Atlan a nine out of ten."
"As a senior analytics engineer, Atlan's ability to show end-to-end data lineage is the most important feature for me."
"Atlan has positively impacted the organization since it helps in discovering already available assets, allowing for reduction of redundant ingestion of external data and reduction of time to market for any project."
"The technical support services are good."
"The most valuable feature is the semantic linguistic artificial intelligence that allows the user to have contact with the system in their natural language."
"The return on investment is immediate because you start gaining money that you were probably losing without the solution."
"It is not only a software solution. It is also based on a direct policy. You get a methodology for data governance and the solution that supports this methodology, which makes things much easier. In addition, this is the only solution right now in the market that has an approach directly directed to the value. By value, I am referring to a tangible value raising money. It has an aspect that is called governed by value. We only focus on the data that is actually bringing a monetary value to your organization or your business process. It is so much simpler working around this system. It has a lot of intelligence embedded in it, and it does a lot of things automatically. It just hooks on to your virtual databases, and you are ready to go in hours. It is an all-in-one solution in which you get data governance, data quality, business transformation, and business excellence."
"I would recommend this solution to anybody interested in data governance because if they want to get fast and tangible results, this is the only way to go."

Cons

"One area that could be improved is the capability to find duplicates of datasets."
"There are some improvements. There is a feature called Playbooks, which basically allows me to automate certain activities that would otherwise be manual. It's a very interesting feature, but there is room to improve it because, depending on the task you automate, the playbooks seem to have a hard time handling the task. So, it could be improved there. Even though it's a great feature, it can evolve further."
"Certain UI changes could make Atlan more user-friendly."
"The challenge is in the lineage, where it requires improvement. Atlas needs to capture areas where organizations use less known applications."
"In my experience, it might be less suited for collaboration across teams."
"One of the main areas for improvement is its governance capabilities."
"Customer support for Atlan is not so proactive."
"Working with templates, Excel import, export, and running automations is not self-explanatory, and you always need help from Atlan support team."
"Its interface could be simpler. Sometimes, you need to go through many clicks in order to find something in the software. You need to move from one thing to another to find something."
"It could be nice to have a little update on the menu to get it more up-to-date with current trends and to make it pop out more when you visit the site."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We pay per-user license. It's a different classification model than with other solutions, where they usually charge you for resources. So, that was a better model for us. And because of this difference in models or classification, it was cheaper for us to go with Atlan."
"This is the only company that I've worked with that has a very good way of thinking and placing itself in the buyer's shoes. They offer a pretty competitive price. They understand that the market is different in our economy for different clients, which makes it easier to get the products into the market. If needed, they are pretty open to adjusting the price on the case-by-case scenario. They understand the Latin American market. This is something that has been impossible with other companies or data governance care providers. The prices were much higher for these companies, and they don't understand our economy and market. There are a lot of local taxes that we pay locally to get any solution down here. To give you an idea, there is more or less a 60% increase in the price of any product that comes to Ecuador."
