Employs advanced deployment strategies and manages CI/CD workflow efficiently
Blue-green deployment has been incredibly beneficial for handling complex deployments in AWS CodePipeline. It allows me to test changes in an isolated environment before deploying them to the entire user base. Additionally, the CI/CD support provided by AWS simplifies the integration process by adding YAML files to projects, enabling AWS to manage the entire CI/CD workflow.

Saves time for developers, which saves money for the company
We are using the Incredibuild agent to run multiple processes on all available cores. This is the improvement that we did. Instead of the machine's core doing task after task, it is now running on multiple machines. In my working environment, it is saving time for all our developers in regards to the time consumption of the builds. My team has four people who manage and interact with Incredibuild as a product.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The management of CodeBuild and CodeDeploy on a three-point trigger basis is an important feature."
"The integrations are good."
"Blue-green deployment has been incredibly beneficial for handling complex deployments in AWS CodePipeline as it allows me to test changes in an isolated environment before deploying them to the entire user base."
"The product is a one-stop solution that you can use to integrate, deploy and host your application."
"AWS CodePipeline offers multiple integrations and it has its own set of features in the area of code scanning and dynamic code testing."
"It helps develop CI/CD implementations with centralized management of code building, deployment, and version control."
"Code deployment is the best feature."
"In AWS, the Cloud DevOps is a managed service from CodeCommit and this has removed the need for a lot of manual steps."
"For each build that runs where I need to generate a code, it takes around half an hour instead of an hour and a half."
"It is saving time for developers, which is saving money for the company."

Cons

"AWS CodePipeline is quite a simple tool mostly for management and creating automation."
"If there are many dependancies involved in the setup, it may take a long time."
"It would be a much better tool if it could be made compatible with other cloud services as well since this is an area the product currently lacks."
"The migration process from one source code to another needs improvement."
"The solution could improve the documentation. Sometimes we have some issues with the documentation not updating after releasing .NET 6. We had some issues with building the code pipeline, and it was not updating the documentation. It's better to update the code documentation."
"I would appreciate if we don't have to install any agents, even for EC2, to deploy using CodeDeploy into EC2 servers. It would help if AWS allows application deployment without requiring the Fortify agent installation."
"The support team’s response time must be improved."
"CodePipeline is not an option for us at all, as CodePipeline is strictly tied to AWS and we have workloads on Azure and Google."
"Stability could be improved. I don't know the reason for the instability because there are no logs that help me to understand the problem."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Compared to other cloud services, AWS CodePipeline falls a bit more on the pricey side. I see that the price of the product has been increasing for the past few years."
"The price of the product depends on how many times you run it. The tool offers a pay-as-you-go model."
"AWS offers free business or enterprise support services."
"The pricing is manageable."
"I would rate the product's pricing a five out of ten."
"AWS CodePipeline is quite affordable. I've been running around four pipelines and the cost is around one dollar per month. It rarely exceeds two dollars."
"It is a straightforward approach where you pay for the resources you consume as they offer a subscription-based licensing model."
"The product is quite expensive compared to other solutions."
"Its pricing and licensing are annoying. Every year, I need to renew. If I miss the deadline date, all my processes will stop working. So, I would prefer that I wouldn't need to renew every year, instead have another solution for it. Or, if we could have an enterprise license agreement with the company, then the development team wouldn't need to spend time renewing licenses."
