Real-time charging has stayed consistent and cuts GC incidents while reducing cloud costs
The best features Azul Zing offers include no stop-the-world during the full GC. No stop-the-world pauses during full GC, and we hit higher TPS with fewer JVMs -- a real win for maintenance and cost. As an online charging system, we can't afford crashes or latency spikes. Before Zing, JVMs would hang and drop from the grid on missed heartbeats. GC tuning is also out-of-the-box -- no more time consuming manual tuning like with Oracle/OpenJDK with no significant outcome.

Crowdsourced knowledge has grown into a trusted customer hub and now supports richer adoption journeys
One inconvenience is that because we are crowdsourced, we have hundreds of contributors every year, with most people only submitting one article, maybe two, so it does not make sense to pay for licenses for all of those people. This leads to some intermediary manual copy-paste processes because we just cannot have everybody working in the system itself, making it a little bit problematic for maintaining a source of truth. The main issues with NICE CXone are the lack of ability to integrate with some internal things that we want to do; it has to do with the way the system is designed, which is complex. We wanted to integrate with our internal system for instant translations, and we were not able to do that, along with a couple of other things that illustrate that it is kind of an isolated system to itself, making it pretty hard to tap into and grow even further. There are a couple of little issues with reporting that have not been very good, but really, the system is very functional.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"With Zing, we've now been able to re-allocate those tuning resources to general product development."
"With minimal effort, Zing has helped us improve our latency performance dramatically."
"Performance of the JVM, especially the C4 Pauseless Garbage Collection, for continuous application execution is the most valuable feature."
"No other JVM on the market even comes close to competing with the Azul Zing."
"The non-stop garbage collector (C4 - Continuously Concurrent Compacting Collector) is the most valuable feature."
"With minimal effort, Zing has helped us improve our latency performance dramatically."
"After using Azul Zing, it is almost a zero-incident situation because of the GCs."
"With minimal effort, Zing has helped us improve our latency performance drastically."
"NICE CXone was a good initial platform because it helped us from a bare-bones patient outreach standpoint, but we did not get the support we needed, and the user interface was very limited regarding what we could do with it."
"A combination of these two elements yields positive impact, and we see metrics indicating self-servicing where calls are not getting escalated to agents, and feedback has improved significantly."
"For me personally, NICE CXone has helped me manage my time and workflow better."
"NICE CXone has positively impacted my organization by seamlessly joining our calls without any call drops, allowing me to listen to a call with ease, and making everything really easy to use and self-explanatory."
"After introducing NICE CXone to our workflows, we are seeing faster resolution of all open cases and shorter resolution time and shorter waiting time, which we had problems with previously."
"Some of the best features with NICE CXone are the real-time visibility that you have, which empowers you to make adjustments on the fly, such as turning on and off your queues and adjusting how we route calls to our agents."
"The copilot feature in NICE CXone has reduced a great deal of after-call work substantially through summarization."
"MindTouch provides an easy way to create HTML using an MS Word-like interface."

Cons

"Although Azul claims to have a fast warmup, we still experience higher latency for the first trade when our system starts up on Sundays."
"Although Azul claims to have a fast warmup, we still experience higher latency for the first trade when our system starts up on Sundays."
"However, like every other great product, there is always something that can be improved."
"The licensing over non-production environments considerably affects the cost of our solution as a software vendor."
"We have encounter stability issues and that has been a source of frustration at times."
"It is extremely expensive."
"The profiling tools included with Zing lag behind those available for Oracle's Java implementation."
"However, as far as the authoring experience goes, it is really bad, and it would be very cost-prohibitive to have the number of licenses needed to smooth out and make the authoring processes more efficient."
"inContact should offer a way to send faxes."
"I ran into many issues with data integrity, forecast accuracy, cross-skilling and cross-utilization of agents, and net staffing reports."
"I have noticed that occasionally the dashboard will freeze and some things may get stuck for a while. For example, if I have a dashboard open that shows how many calls are in queue and how many are currently being handled by agents, sometimes a call that an agent is handling will get stuck on the dashboard after the agent ends the call and the dashboard will show that the call is still a live call. Our tech team has explained this to us as a ghost call. After some time (or maybe many screen refreshes) the call will go away like it has just ended."
"MindTouch would greatly benefit by providing a GitHub pull request functionality to foster draft mode and open contribution writing."
"NICE CXone is a good feature, but it is expensive and costlier than other products such as Genesis or other alternatives."
"I think that there could be improvements in the actual structuring and formatting of content, i.e., when creating topics and guides in MindTouch."
"The audio quality in NICE CXone has room for improvement, as I experience issues like diffused calls and crackling audio."

What needs improvement with Azul Zing?
Nothing major, but one nuance: Zing auto-adjusts internal config based on available CPUs, which can cause brief CPU spikes every few minutes. These are harmless, but can give ops/monitoring teams a...

We run a large in-memory data grid to store millions of customers -- clusters of up to 30-40 JVMs, each with ~90GB heap, deployed across a variety of infrastructure including Azure, AWS, and on-pre...
What is your experience regarding pricing and costs for NICE CXone?
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is somewhat irrelevant because we are sold through Verizon rather than directly from NICE.
What needs improvement with NICE CXone?
The development tools in NICE CXone could be better, as there are some pain points. I would like to see a more JavaScript or C# native language interface in NICE CXone where you can do more program...
