Unified data platform has improved regulatory compliance but still needs better integration features
It is difficult to say about Azure Stack improvement because I need to revisit and study it again. The pricing is okay, but on the services side, perhaps we need to think about some services, not all. I would not like to see any additional features in the future. To give them more like a 9 out of 10 or 10 out of 10, I think they need to improve on the interface, implementation, configuration, and integration with other products, so I rate them an eight. As compared to AWS, they need to add more features. I would like to see operations and storage features, like AI features or security features.

Helps to run simulations and create prototypes which reduces the costs
HPC's neutral configuration is not difficult. The tool's deployment depends on your understanding of its architecture and use cases. I rate it a three out of five. A regular cluster will take two weeks to set up. OEMs helped us with the physical hardware installation. Once the cluster was running, our team configured the software and networks.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the OCR, which I use for reading PDFs."
"Azure Stack provides us with computational power. We also get an option to have it with Azure Cloud, which is beneficial. We don't need to buy any other extra servers or any virtual machines with high-end graphics."
"For hybrid cloud operations, the seamless transition it enables is key. Most enterprises have a lot of workloads on-premises, and they want a smooth way to move into the cloud. Some things are on-prem, and some things are on the cloud. Azure Stack bridges that gap with solutions that work well for their existing on-premises infrastructure."
"The beauty of Azure is that most of the features are easily accessible. It is user-friendly. Almost all resources in Azure are very easily accessible. For example, you can access a virtual machine, and you can scale it up. You can go ahead with different infrastructure-as-a-service in Azure for the platform or for the cloud. Different levels of development could be done using it."
"When we engage Azure Stack, it's very easy to lift and shift. That's why we've been successful because we can be clear and fast in understanding workflows from the customer."
"The admin dashboard is the main feature of the solution."
"The solution pairs well with other MS services and saves us a lot of money."
"Azure Stack integrates well with Microsoft. It's also good for transitioning from an on-premise or hybrid setup to the cloud. It's seamless."
"HPC speeds up delivery time and reduces costs. It comes with the capability and flexibility to understand how engineering products work. You can understand the outcome without spending time and money."
"Our customers can publish scientific reports in prestigious magazines. HPC offers strong computing capabilities."

Cons

"From a security perspective, there are certain things which could be improved."
"Azure Stack needs to improve integrations."
"The challenge in Azure Stack begins at an individual level when you try to monitor every service from Azure Stack that gets consumed."
"Technical support is very poor. When we meet Microsoft in the coming weeks to discuss expansion, we'll be speaking to them directly about this."
"The response time for technical support is very poor. It takes days to receive a response, and the technicians handling the tickets do not seem very technical."
"The solution could use more training materials to help users understand how to use the product effectively. Online training would also be a beneficial addition to the product."
"The pricing is expensive, especially today as most platforms embrace cloud models, promoting different stacks that support heterogeneous hardware and hybrid model environments, offering full multi-tenancy."
"The licensing model of Azure Stack is complicated."
"There was a buzz around the integration of quantum computing and HPC. However, I don't see a real-life use case for it."
"The solution is expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Azure Stack is expensive."
"The solution saves us money but is more costly than other products such as AWS."
"The product is expensive, but it is fine for the value that the solution produces."
"It is not a cost-friendly solution."
"The people who manage the budgets are satisfied with the solution’s medium pricing, which is neither very expensive nor very cheap."
"The cost of Azure Stack is much cheaper than VCE."
"Pricing is always a hot topic, so the pricing can always improve."
"Azure Stack's price falls on the higher side of the spectrum. The licensing costs for Azure Stack in our region range somewhere between 40,000 to 50,000 USD."
