Helps to run simulations and create prototypes which reduces the costs
HPC's neutral configuration is not difficult. The tool's deployment depends on your understanding of its architecture and use cases. I rate it a three out of five. A regular cluster will take two weeks to set up. OEMs helped us with the physical hardware installation. Once the cluster was running, our team configured the software and networks.

Enables us to grow at the speed of business and be ready for whatever is coming
What I admire most about Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) is its scalability; that option that everybody seems to eventually go to is cloud, and we're ready for that when we decide. This scalability feature has improved my company because we can grow at the speed of business, and that's very important. We're not limited by the hardware that we have. We allow ourselves room for growth, and we can literally grow from today to tomorrow to ensure that we're handling our growth. The scalability is critical for us, especially in the banking industry, where we just get bigger every year.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Our customers can publish scientific reports in prestigious magazines. HPC offers strong computing capabilities."
"HPC speeds up delivery time and reduces costs. It comes with the capability and flexibility to understand how engineering products work. You can understand the outcome without spending time and money."
"The solution can scale well."
"The most valuable feature of Nutanix Clusters is to protect the data."
"The most valuable feature is having the full features of my Nutanix on-premises applications in the cloud."
"Nutanix has the best customer service."
"There is ease of use. It is very important for our customers to have one centralized management console. Scalability is also very important for our customers."
"The feature I probably appreciate the most about Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) is its scalability—how quickly I can deploy more nodes on a cluster and remove nodes."
"Its performance and speed are valuable. Its performance has helped me reduce costs."
"Customer service and technical support are definitely shining stars for Nutanix."

Cons

"There was a buzz around the integration of quantum computing and HPC. However, I don't see a real-life use case for it."
"The solution is expensive."
"I believe that networking is one of the biggest improvements. They have a great stock already, but some use cases, particularly around incrementally spinning up workloads, haven't been considered closely enough. As we're putting workloads on there by adding a few VMs at a time, there are networking aspects that need to be considered more closely. It's great once everything's there, but incrementally getting things there is what's difficult."
"Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) could be improved with some more tools that could help synchronize on-prem and cloud stuff better."
"Some of the interfaces aren't as intuitive as they should be."
"Quality control needs to regulate the price-quality ratio."
"I'd like more flexible options to get in and out of migration modes."
"Perhaps the one thing that could be improved is the documentation around the solution."
"The pricing can be better."
"Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) could be improved as it currently looks and feels slightly different than on-prem. Engineering could aim for a look and feel closer to on-prem, making it easier for newer users."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The licensing portability can be very interesting. At the moment, I am working with Nutanix Appliances with the AHV as a hypervisor. I did not have a chance to ask for portability between platforms, but it will be good if you can have portability between multiple types of platforms."
"The price is high."
"The transition from the perpetual license to what they have now is, from a business perspective, understandable, but from an operational and cost perspective, for me, it is really expensive. However, our partners at Nutanix did work with us recently and reduced a huge licensing cost for us."
"The licensing model of Nutanix is complex."
"The solution has been more costly at this point. We do not see any cost savings."
"I'm not familiar with the contracts, but I thought the process was pretty seamless. Licensing for the Nutanix part was the same as licensing something on-prem, and since it runs on bare metal EC2, there was no new process we had to go through—it fits into our existing procurement processes nicely. I appreciate Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2)'s license portability."
"The solution's licensing can be very pricey."
"There are positives and negatives to licensing. It all makes sense now, but it took a while. When the licenses first changed, it was a bit confusing."
