Automation has streamlined build and deployment workflows and provides clear project reporting
Regarding improvements for Bamboo, I can't think of anything right now. Bamboo is serving the purpose that we needed it for. I would say pipelines for model building could be an area of focus. However, I can't really comment on that because I haven't looked at Bamboo to assist with machine learning pipelines. If they haven't focused on building MLOps pipelines, that's definitely an area where they could assist businesses. I haven't looked at what Bamboo offers for MLOps, so it's possible that they've already built in features. Machine learning and AI are in big demand at the moment. If they haven't focused too much on MLOps, that's probably where they can improve.

Integrated task tracking has improved code collaboration and now supports secure, controlled delivery
The integration with Jira is a feature I really appreciate in Bitbucket because it allows for easy task management integration, which is very beneficial. Bitbucket provides strong Jira integration, which is essential for our client who uses Jira for task management. This integration helps streamline processes and has built-in CI/CD pipelines, private repositories, and provides solid support for managing tasks effectively. The CI/CD pipeline in Bitbucket streamlines our development process as we need built-in pipelines, which are available and easy to use. Bitbucket maintains code quality through branch permissions that alert you if you are pushing directly and there are branch protections or conflicts. It enforces naming conventions for branches, making it secure and easy to manage. Security-wise, Bitbucket has good features such as private repositories, access controls, authentication requirements, and secure pull requests, ensuring safety at various levels. The initial setup for Bitbucket is easy as I log in with the company email to access a workspace. Creating repositories follows a straightforward process involving setting permissions and branch creation.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"One of the significant benefits of Bamboo is its built-in support for numerous clients and the ability to tailor its capabilities to your specific requirements. This high level of customization enables you to create pipelines that are ideally suited to your needs, making it an invaluable tool for conducting advanced testing."
"Bamboo was used extensively in our organization for PCA compliance."
"The most valuable feature of Bamboo is that it is a good tool for CI/CD integration."
"In my experience Bamboo is scalable."
"The most valuable features of Bamboo are its performance and UI. Additionally, there are a lot of useful plugins, integration with other solutions, such as Bitbucket and Jira, and a helpful online community."
"It's one of the best solutions in this line of work. We have many Atlassian products. We use Bamboo, JIRA, Service Desk, and some other Atlassian plugins. We like that it's easy to integrate into each other. It's a suite of services."
"Bamboo's integration with the rest of Atlassian's tech tools, like Jira, helps manage the end-to-end development and release process."
"The main benefits Bamboo provides for me and my team are the automation to pick up code changes and automate the deployments, building images."
"Bitbucket has a very clean UI, especially with the pull request dashboards where we can directly see the source and destination branches and the change, and the diff between the files in a single UI."
"What I liked the most about this program is that it integrates seamlessly with JIRA."
"I find Bitbucket's branching, pull requests, and branch mergers very valuable."
"Overall product rating: ten out of ten."
"Multiple users can work on the same repository using different branches, making it beneficial."
"We can watch the newly implemented code. So it's quite nice to organize the teams to see what part of the work is done and what part of the code is already old or new. It is very good for that kind of management."
"The product's initial setup phase experience was good."
"Git is Bitbucket's most valuable feature."

Cons

"One area that could be enhanced is the governance process, particularly with regard to building approvals and transitions between stages. In comparison to other solutions, such as Jira, which features a workflow that supports approval processes, this capability is not natively available in Bamboo. To implement this functionality, integration with other solutions, such as GSM may be necessary. Although some add-ons, such as Adaptavist ScriptRunner, are available in the market to circumvent this limitation, they may not offer the exact functionality needed. Therefore, there is certainly room for improvement in this area."
"It's a little outdated. It's three years old."
"It would be great if Bamboo could introduce a more containerized deployment model."
"Bamboo can improve by providing more with scripting, such as they have with Jenkins. Bamboo is more UI-driven at this time, Jenkins is going in that direction too."
"Bamboo could improve by having compatibility with GitLab. It would be better to have this platform for deploying code and storing container registries. Bamboo does not have a container registry. Additionally, there could be more features added."
"The solution needs to support more customization in the training. What's offered is pretty generic. They need better training and should offer more guidance."
"The performance around the deployment feature could be improved."
"Bamboo is a bit complicated to use compared to other solutions, such as GitLab. You have to integrate different actions that are difficult that could be made easier."
"The scalability for the cloud version can be improved."
"Integration with Copilot could be beneficial."
"It goes well with other Atlassian solutions like Jira or Bamboo, but integration with other third-party solutions is more complex."
"The module component needs improvement."
"I think the configuration can be improved because it is getting more complicated and not very well organized."
"There could be more AI features included in the product."
"I rate the support from Bitbucket a four out of five."
"I would like to see the integration with some of the cloud service providers improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate the product’s pricing a five out of ten."
"There is a subscription required to use Bamboo."
"I rate the solution's pricing a three out of five."
"The server products for small teams used to offer excellent pricing. However, Atlassian has since changed the offering and the pricing is more expensive. I do still think the solution offers good value for money."
"If Bamboo could provide more flexibility on pricing, that would help. On the agent side, if you want to increase the number of agents it should be less expensive. If they can provide some better pricing model, it will help, whether we are going to use it or are already using it."
"The price of Bamboo is reasonable."
"You have to buy additional licenses when you exceed 50 users."
"We have approximately 40 licenses for Bitbucket."
"I rate the pricing a seven out of ten because it is expensive."
"Licensing is on a monthly basis, it's available on our website. They have a free version, the pro version and then they have an enterprise version, and we're using a kind of the middle of the pro version for about $7 per user per month."
"The product offers competitive pricing structures for small to medium-sized businesses, which is especially beneficial for smaller teams."
"When it comes to licensing we have the standard plan."
"A full licensing cost is paid for Bitbucket."
"Bitbucket is an inexpensive product."

Bamboo vs. Jenkins
A biased and subjective comparison of Bamboo and Jenkins as CI servers for mobile development, based on practical experience with both. Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (Delivery, Distribution) has been around for quite a while. But surprisingly enough on a global scale it pretty…
