An easy-to-use project management solution with good stability and scalability
The recent update on the solution has made it a little bit complex. For example, to create a team and a project, there is a separate button that you need to click. Recently they updated it with only one button making it difficult for us to create teams or supply teams other than a project. Hence the solution could be more user-friendly. Additionally, some additional features need to be integrated so it'll be easy for other companies or project managers to manage software projects.

Centralized workflows have boosted cross-team collaboration and made complex projects manageable
monday.com can continue to improve their AI capabilities. When comparing monday.com to several alternatives when I was evaluating a project and project management, product road mapping, and workflow management platform for us, I looked at competitors such as Asana, ClickUp, SmartSheet, Airtable, and Notion. In my opinion, competitors such as Airtable and SmartSheet, especially followed by Asana and ClickUp, have worked on their AI and generative AI roadmap to combine database functionality with a very user-friendly interface for knowledge management and project tracking, essentially combining both worlds. Their AI is more sophisticated than what monday.com has released thus far. They provide a cleaner task-focused workflow management platform and I think that monday.com can still improve on this core piece of their technology. I think monday.com could also seek to be more process-oriented and intuitive. Other alternatives such as Asana and SmartSheet offer that approach. There is a steeper learning curve to learn monday.com in my opinion compared to Airtable, Asana, and others because I have also used those tools and platforms at other organizations. There is a bit of a learning curve with new users on monday.com because it is not as streamlined as I have experienced with competitors such as SmartSheet or Airtable. The capability sets are great, however, you may need to be hand-held via a monday.com rep when you get started within your organization or view the library of tutorials that monday.com has available. You can also view them on YouTube and that will help you get started on monday.com.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The ease of use is valuable."
"The app functionality and ease of seeing the different functionalities parsed equally on the screen with consistent menu access to shift between areas."
"The ability to network informally is great for communicating with colleagues."
"Monday has been a huge help to the team through personal organization and measuring team success."
"Over time, we were able to move almost 90% of our workflow into Monday.com, and it has been a game-changer for us."
"Monday has allowed us to work and flow as a growing team and has provided a concrete organizational basis for how we run our day-to-day."
"With the work boards easy to convert to Gantt charts, valuable time is saved when preparing for project meetings."
"It allows us to get everyone on the same page at their local terminal without having to sync everyone on ten different software solutions."
"Since we moved from Basecamp to Monday.com, we have definitely seen an improvement in how our projects are tracked, and missed deadlines have decreased dramatically."
"There are so many automations to streamline everyday tasks and reduce click counts when doing admin work. It is incredible."
"Monday.com keeps our communication so simple."

Cons

"The product isn't easy to use. It's not very intuitive."
"Formalized area to store contact information indexed in a way that can pre-populate other areas would be helpful."
"The solution could be more user-friendly."
"The web page can be a bit buggy at times, especially after I switch to a different tab and then come back to the Monday site after leaving it idle for a few minutes."
"We'd like to see less downtime. There have been times when I really needed to use Monday and it would be down for half a day and saying there is an error with the system."
"Poor implementation and training have caused individuals to reject using the platform."
"It would be great to see additional automation rules and have varied fields per subcategory. It could have a few more features when it comes to managing projects."
"I wish there were more templates because having to start from scratch was hard with a lot of things. It was not as intuitive. I wish there was a board builder function that could take you through creating your board and ask you the automation questions."
"The email log-in sensitivity would be a challenge and would lead to guests being added as members and the account getting overcharged frequently."
"The only thing that I would change, and I'm not sure if this is part of the settings that need to be fixed by the user itself, not by the admin, is that sometimes it would be convenient to make your own categories, and it makes it difficult to constantly go and talk to my boss to get them."
"It would be good to have a countdown timer to a deadline date so you could see 'days remaining' to work on a project to help schedule time, as currently it only shows the end date."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"I rate the tool's pricing a six out of ten."
"I am using the tool's free version."
"The pricing is totally fair. I don't have any issues with it."
"It's definitely affordable. I don't think it is necessarily the cheapest, but it's definitely not the most expensive. The price is well worth the value that we get out of it."
"There are features that they're putting in the Enterprise plan that you have to pay for the Enterprise plan to use those features. The Enterprise plan is probably double or triple the Pro plan price, or it may be two and a half times. From a business standpoint, I don't like the fact that I have to pay two and a half times more to use a particular feature."
"The solution is quite inexpensive. For example, we pay $8,500 for 75 users. It's somewhere around $100 a user, approximately."
"The pricing of monday.com is worth it."
"The licensing cost is not that high for monday.com. However, if you need an implementer, the cost is high because there aren't so many monday.com professionals."
