Enables management of multiple operating systems with a single license
The best feature is that it's a Microsoft product, so if anything goes wrong, we get quick support for anything required. Remote system functionality allows us to sit anywhere and take control of any device via remote management. We can enhance security for clients' laptops with built-in Microsoft Defender, which is available with the Microsoft Intune license. We use it for reporting purposes through endpoint analytics. When pushing scripting, there are two types available: remediation script and reservation script. Through endpoint analytics, you can push defender policies to clients. It helps with reporting, inventory updates, and monitoring tenant status health.

Helpful technical support, and performs well, but initial setup could be simplified
They are constantly improving the scalability of BlackBerry Enterprise Mobility Suite. More collaborative features are being developed. I know they have integrations with a lot of other vendors and applications, and it's constantly growing. Our company has approximately 3,000 users. I would say we have ten people for actual administrative roles with Blackberry.

Has improved mobile device management through features such as geofencing, firmware upgrades, and centralized control
One of the best features of SOTI MobiControl is that it is one of the oldest MDM solutions available. There are many features such as geofencing with map integration, APK upgrade, firmware upgrade, and it provides battery status, device status, and more. SOTI MobiControl impacts organizations positively because customers want an application MDM solution for managing their mobile devices from a central control. They have given good feedback and were happy with the solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The device profiling which uses the official Outlook email enabled us to control the screenshot feature and prevent copying outside of the organization's application."
"The policy and compliance monitoring of devices and the software deployment are most valuable."
"If any user tries to access company data, it directly interacts with the conditional access policy. This helps us protect our data and set the criteria for how data can be accessed and shared."
"Microsoft Intune is easy to use, and it is able to enforce policies towards multiple devices. It is able to bring multiple classes of devices into the same security posture. I found that very useful."
"It helps us manage user certificates."
"Intune significantly simplifies application deployment, mobile application management, and policy enforcement, such as restricting user access to specific applications, thereby enhancing overall environment security."
"The cloud base is perfect for me."
"My favorite feature about Microsoft Intune is that I have good logging capabilities; I can effectively troubleshoot, though I'm also missing some aspects."
"I value the way BES UEM was able to utilize Android for Work-Premium in BlackBerry Android devices."
"It has allowed us to manage many different mobile device platforms, like Windows 10, Android, Apple, and BlackBerry 10, all through a single pane of glass."
"It was a big improvement to activate applications with one authentication. That was a big plus for the user experience."
"When the product works, it allows us to secure these devices in a way we could not before, and have control over the iOS updates and applications that we lacked."
"The most important features would be instant messaging and the security that we get from the containerization."
"The container approach gets you separation between private and corporate data."
"Whenever we have issues, people rely on the ability to check messages promptly."
"We are using BlackBerry Work applications for accessing emails, calendars, and contacts, and the users are happy to have an easy way to have access to emails on the go."
"The ROI is US$4 for each US$1 invested."
"The licensing is simple."
"Overall, this is a pretty good product and I like that it is standalone."
"The most valuable feature is the fact that I can manage my devices remotely."
"We use the Lockdown Kiosk Mode feature on all of our devices. We use that so that the operators can't change any settings in the background, and so that the applications they run are immediately available to them. It's a good feature."
"The most valuable features of SOTI MobiControl include location tracking, geofencing, remote device control, and SOTI self-service mobile browsers."
"I have experience with technical support. They are quite good. Also, they very quickly understand the issues and what are the requirements from my side. Response time is also good."
"The most valuable feature is the remote support because there are plants here where IT staff is not present. We can use it to provide support remotely."

Cons

"Data leak prevention can be integrated into it. Currently, it does not have data leak prevention."
"Its integration with Mac and Linux devices can be better. They should provide more features similar to Windows. We should be able to manage policies within Linux and Mac machines. If we can have more granular controls for these two operating systems, it will be really helpful."
"Intune could be improved by expanding its third-party patching capabilities for a more comprehensive solution."
"Microsoft Intune needs to improve the initial login process."
"It would be better if Microsoft can reduce the cost of the license, as we know the Intune device subscription is licensed per device at a cost of $2 a month, but for the best enhanced security and features we must add an add-on license or buy or upgrade to a bundling license such as M365E5."
"The add-ons must be integrated into the solution."
"Microsoft Intune's app deployment presents challenges for non-MSI and non-store apps, particularly EXEs, requiring the use of a Win32 wrapper tool and adding overhead to the process."
"The solution can have some compliance problems in general and the end-point user can bypass easily the company policies in Intune."
"One fault that BlackBerry has is its salesforce. Their direct salesforce department is changing its salespeople constantly. One client I had, over a period of about three years, went through four salespeople. That continuity is a problem, in terms of dealing with the customers."
"Clumsy user interface"
"Some users have complained that some features cannot be done through the BlackBerry Access Hub."
"From the past to the present, before mobility location, we frequently required a restart."
"More devices supported like iOS, Android, and API so it can support various platforms to enhance the experience."
"What I'm noticing now, and it feels like I took a step back, is that I have to zip logs again and upload them, and that takes a lot of time."
"It's too difficult to manage ourselves. We have to get a third-party in to do that. The fact that it breaks on some end-users' devices is also a concern and just the frequency and complexity of upgrades is not ideal."
"I would like to see better integration with our AD. Instead of having to use Active Directory groups, we'd like to use Active Directory attributes instead. There is a lot of overhead in managing. Whereas, if we could key on something tied to HR, or some other feed indicating who they are or what role they have, and manage them that way, that would be much preferable than having to manage people with Active Directory groups. Because, if people move roles, then we have to make sure that we move them from one Active Directory group to another, which is hands-on, a lot of overhead."
"I would like to see some SMS integration so people can send data directly from a mobile phone through SMS when there's no internet."
"Support for Windows Phone 8.1 Improve time to market"
"In the next release, they should make it easier to migrate."
"Adding more features for iOS devices would be an improvement."
"One of the main pain points I have had with SOTI is support for the latest device."
"There is room for improvement when it comes to the ability to customize devices and choosing what information goes onto them."
"There were definitely some growing pains with the setup, it was brand new."
"They could organize the software a little bit better, where you access things on the console. It seems like I have to click in three different places in order to get it to go to one area. I should be able to access pretty much any point of the server, whatever I need to touch, from a panel, without having to go click on a menu, then click on the profiles, then click over on Server and go back up to the top and click on the type of device that I have, just to get my applications to show."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Generally, we get favorable discounts, so it's not too bad. Obviously, we're looking at decreasing those wherever we can to bring value back to the public purse because it's all charity based. It's all publicly funded."
"Microsoft offers some licensing where it's included at no extra cost when customers are already using the licenses. In such a case, it's a really good value. If you have to buy the licensing for it, it's probably on par with other solutions. It isn't substantially more or less expensive. The great thing is that it is included in some of Microsoft's licensed packages. So, some customers don't have to spend additional money for it. Typically, most providers that support Intune do charge a management fee of some sort or some fee. Certainly, we're no exception."
"Cost is not my department, but the product is included in the E5 license that we already pay for every user, so no additional cost is incurred."
"The price of Microsoft Intune is reasonable."
"The tool is cheaper than our company's other MDM tools."
"Microsoft licenses are costly."
"It's affordable. It's cheaper if you have an Office 365, E5, or E3 subscription because everything is there."
"The licensing is on a yearly basis."
"With the new licensing model, there seems to be a significant increase in cost, which makes it difficult to push forward and talk with the business."
"We currently pay by the year, but the licenses are calculated on a monthly basis."
"For the number of licenses, I believe it was approximately $500,000 per year, or for three years."
"We pay about $6 a year for the solution. There are no extra costs on top of that. You save a lot of money when you use this product."
"In my opinion, we're paying an awful lot for what we get, compared to other vendors. I don't deal with the pricing, but it does seem to be a bit pricey for the things that we get, especially, when you compare them to other vendors, such as VMware, Citrix, who have all bought up other players in this space. VMware offers AirWatch free as part of their packages."
"It was on a yearly support contract, and the licenses were perpetual. There was also the implementation cost and the support cost for the integrator."
"We are paying $200 annually. You also need to have a hardware server or a license for the server so there could be some additional fees added on to that."
"Sometimes, it is very hard to get an overview because there are so many different suites to find out what is the right thing for new customers."
"There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price, and ten is a high price, I rate the pricing a five."
"The price is average. SOTI manages the price according to the type of client they have. I would rate the cost as five out of ten."
"They've been pretty flexible with us, because we've changed the way we do our licensing a few times. We did a yearly, and then we went back and we did a quarterly, and I think we're back to yearly right now. We've been able to work stuff out and pricing has gone down since the onset. We've got a better rate per device and it's reasonable. The licensing cost from SOTI usually doesn't scare anybody, away once it's explained."
"Pricing is okay, but when you buy your renewal of licenses - at the end of the period or the year - if you have a lot of devices, obviously, it's going to increase. In the end, it's kind of expensive."
"The pricing is reasonable and the licensing model is very reasonable when compared to some of the competitors in the market. I can speak directly regarding Intune, which is very expensive compared to SOTI."
"The product is less expensive than one of its competitors."
"It makes sense to have scanners on SOTI MobiControl, but it makes less sense to have printers because there are fewer features for them, while the price is the same for both."
