Easy to use, simple licensing, and has a single pane of glass view
The solution is too granular and sometimes complex to configure. We do not always need so many details. Simpler configurations with fewer details would be beneficial. The API aspect could be improved with more use cases and better handling of object attributes. It is already better than in previous versions. Their product team is planning further improvements in the upcoming version 9.6. Last month, we had a roadmap meeting with the BlueCat product team. There will be a lot of improvements in version 9.6 coming in the second half of 2025. We will then upgrade our system to that one. It will have quite a lot of new features.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"BlueCat Integrity provides us with flexibility and visibility that we did not have before."
"One of the key features enabling us to operate at our current scale is robust automation."
"Adaptive DNS's best feature is DDoS protection, which stops malware and network security attacks."
"Managing our BDI infrastructure globally is simple, and BlueCat's personalized relationship with us is valuable to our organization."
"One of the better things about Integrity is that the underlying code it uses is an ISC DNS and DHCP. It's not like some of the other vendors that have created their own version of DNS."
"The most valuable piece, which has been a lifesaver, would be the BlueCat DNS resolver. BlueCat Cloud DNS resolver is a tool that takes a look into your cloud's DNS and then reports back everything it finds into BlueCat's DNS Edge solution. The Edge solution has a bunch of nice rules that you can configure to route the DNS traffic. That automation alone is a lifesaver for me for the day-to-day churn of the DNS components that change on an hourly, daily basis."
"The solution is scalable in multiple ways."
"I've been impressed by BlueCat's performance and user-friendly GUI."
"The most valuable feature of ManageEngine OpUtils is the ease of use. Additionally, the IP address and port switch management, and twenty more tools for discovering networks and administrative management for Cisco devices are beneficial."

Cons

"One crucial area for development is IPv6 support."
"One complaint about the interface is BlueCat's handling of subzones."
"The solution is too granular and sometimes complex to configure. We do not always need so many details. Simpler configurations with fewer details would be beneficial."
"During our testing phase, we encountered some issues with Active Directory and DNS reverse lookups."
"However, it does not offer robust support for high availability failover with different subnets, especially if the servers are located in different data centers and belong to distinct IP networks."
"BlueCat Integrity can improve by increasing the amount of updates it releases."
"Adaptive DNS only supports AWS for network automation and cloud computing and would be improved if it also supported other options like Azure or Google Cloud."
"Unfortunately, BlueCat Integrity doesn't support bulk Content Security Policy configuration."
"ManageEngine OpUtils could improve by offering a cloud version of the solution. It is important to have cloud solutions. It is important to have someone with network knowledge to use the solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Overall, I would say that it is priced fairly, though perhaps a bit on the high side."
"Adaptive DNS's price depends on your network ranges, the services you want, and the level of support you require."
"Our licensing model with BlueCat Integrity is cheaper than Infoblox."
"I am not sure about the exact pricing, but I believe their cost is lower compared to Infoblox."
"Overall, it's a decent price for the product. There are other vendors that have support models and costs that are, sometimes, double what Bluecat charges."
"BlueCat Integrity's pricing is reasonable within the market."
"They're competitive. The way they run their model is good. Could it stand some tweaking? Sure. There are some items there. One of the things I looked at in the recent past was their container solutions. You have to pay for licensing to use their containerized platform, but the licensing doesn't include the container licensing itself. I'd love to be able to have one big package per se."
"Compared to other solutions, BlueCat Integrity offers a competitive price."
"The price of ManageEngine OpUtils is inexpensive. The pricing model they use is billed for the number of IP addresses or hardware you use."
