Can be used for the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance
We use it for the virtualization of third-party APIs for performance testing. Our second use case is related to the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance, which is used for insurance clients In the case of the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party…

Is scalable and easy to use, but the monitoring feature needs improvement
The support for Micro Focus Service Virtualization is better than that for other products. The technical support staff are highly skilled. Sometimes, we don't have to open a ticket. We can just go into the community and then talk to them directly. I would rate technical support at seven out of ten.

Easy to set up and scale but needs more data virtualization capabilities
I'm working with a service organization and I'm working for a client and that client requires this solution. That's why we use it. Basically, we are just a customer and end-user. The solution is easy to set up and a good tool for the service virtualization so far. I'd rate the solution at a seven out of ten. If the product could do more things, I'd give it higher marks.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I like the fact that it allows us to focus on just the system under test."
"Some of the virtual services that have been built by this solution will support somewhere around 2000 to 3000GPS perfectly."
"The tool always had some additional features included in each of its releases and it fixed the bugs of the previous release."
"It gives us the ability to simulate and virtualize components that we don’t currently have."
"I use VSI, VSM, and SOA testing."
"Using the power of CA Service Virtualization, it is now possible to perform integration testing on every application build."
"Having this tool as part of the organization gives thought to how individuals can efficiently remove dependencies and reduce time to market."
"The most valuable feature is definitely how quickly you can get up and mock something that’s not completely done."
"Service Virtualization plays a major role in transforming your development, testing, and operating engineer into a business engineer."
"HPE SV helped me and my ALM team minimize workforce, reduce costs, and transition from hardware to virtualization; my software is more secure preproduction."
"Service virtualization enables our teams to create, develop, and test software against virtual services that simulate real service behavior with no constraints, available anytime."
"The most valuable feature is that it reduces the dependency so that the down time of the environment is not a major cost. That cost can be used for something else like the cloud."
"Some of the key differentiators of this tool – Easy to use, built-in integration with HP tools like LoadRunner, ALM and UFT, built-in integration with revision control software, support for multiple technologies including SAP, support for network virtualization, and the ability to control virtual services from ALM, HP ServiceTest, LoadRunner, and UFT."
"Service Virtualization cuts down dependency across dev as well as any third party components."
"Don't give up. It may sound very expensive at the beginning, but we have realized more than $15 million in savings at one of our major healthcare clients."
"The feature which is most valuable in this solution is the ease of use. The product is very easy to use and very easy to implement."
"Using Virtualize, this dependency has been removed completely, allowing the test team to provision many more orders in shorter time, enabling them to test much more, much faster."
"Parasoft Virtualization allowed us to create a simulated environment and test the code before entering the testing cycle."
"Parasoft's product is easier to operate, and drives the user to make the right decisions and complete the work efficiently."
"The technical support is very good, with short lines and short response times from well-skilled technical employees."
"The solution is easy to set up and a good tool for the service virtualization so far."
"Parasoft Virtualize helped us in accelerating application delivery by allowing us to test early."
"We now have the ability to test our complex applications completely detached from integration middleware, which improves the reliability, speed, cost, and simplicity of testing."
"Service Virtualization has provided a way to move forward where we do not find any way to go."

Cons

"I would really like more relevant online documentation."
"It is not a stable solution."
"The solution required a lot of CPU memory, but using enough PC OZU fixed the problems."
"I would like to have more flexibility towards the mainframe virtualization and also in JDBC virtualization."
"More examples of portal-based virtualization."
"Technical documentation needs some more improvements by explaining live scenarios."
"I think the size of DevTest is pretty massive. It's hard to tell what different parts of it can be used to do different things."
"The initial setup of this solution is not straightforward at all; the installation is unnecessarily complex, and user-friendliness is not an area that CA DevTest can boast about."
"Pricing is always a concern for our clients, so my guess is if anything can be beat it's price."
"Early on though, we saw some stability issues with the design that would occasionally crash."
"It could needs to be a lot more scalable."
"More support for different protocols. I would love to see more wizards rather than relying on some custom coding, which you can use C# as well as Visual Basic scripting."
"I’m rating it a 7 because it is not a fully evolved virtualization tool compared to other tools offering the same service."
"The integration with other solutions, such as ALM and Jira, should be improved."
"HPE products are good, but they never make a product for a specific use."
"I would like them to reduce the cost of the licenses."
"This product is too expensive when scaling."
"It is somewhat complex regarding its configuration setup with different technologies."
"It should have more fine-grained authorization."
"Performance enhancement for large payloads."
"An area of improvements would be Data Repository, as in current stage it is difficult to manage data from this aspect."
"When Virtualize is running on a (virtual) machine with limited memory, over time it might consume more and more memory and (worst case) stall."
"It would be ideal if the product offered more in terms of data virtualization or have a separate product that could be combined with this one that could offer a bit more in order to cover more of our requirements."
"Only about the memory, if you don't meet the minimum RAM required, performance is not stable."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a yearly licensing cost, and I would give it a four out of five."
"I think the pricing is quite fair because this solution provides a lot of functionalities, and is quite stable."
"There are additional fees for advanced-level technical support."
"I don't have the exact dollar amount, but we have spent close to $1,000,000 for a three-year agreement, for an enterprise level."
"It's an expensive solution, but you can get discounts. You have to buy one server and one designer together, for example, and it may cost 15 million Thai Baht."
"Micro Service Virtualization is very expensive. The pricing of this product is in line with all of the other big name-brand products."
