Crowdsourced triage has uncovered critical website vulnerabilities and continuously improves our security posture
Bugcrowd could be improved or enhanced as they seem to have a lot of internal churn at the moment, so they could be more stable and more customer-focused. By customer-focused, I mean they are not very good at communicating what is changing on their side to their customers. I am now on my fourth account manager within one year. My latest call with them was with the fourth account manager saying there have been many changes and apologizing that no one I have spoken to in the past is on this call, but going forwards it will be them. With the fourth account manager in a year, it is hard to trust that message.

Proactive dark web intelligence has reduced breach impact and protects organizations quietly
Cybersixgill has one of the largest data lakes around. I think the way they can be improved is to be able to initially during the onboarding, make sure that the false positives are correctly addressed to really do the tweaks that need to be done to filter through exactly what the organization is trying to accomplish and give them the outcomes they are looking for without all the extra noise or chatter. I just think during the onboarding, that is the most crucial part to make sure that the organizations who purchase Cybersixgill ensure that they actually have the right person or persons to go through the onboarding to make sure that the data lake feeds can be properly set up and organized so it can filter through the noise and the chatter.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Bugcrowd has programs that disclose rewards and invite researchers to new programs."
"I would rate Bugcrowd a ten out of ten."
"Bugcrowd's support team is very active and supportive."
"Bugcrowd's use of crowdsourced hackers has helped in discovering unique vulnerabilities."
"Working on Bugcrowd has made me a better security engineer since it provides a competitive environment to report successful vulnerabilities."
"I believe Bugcrowd is highly stable."
"One of the features I like most about Bugcrowd is the ability to create a report in a very easy way."
"The most valuable aspect of Bugcrowd is that it provides a long list of different websites or web applications where I can report vulnerabilities."
"Cybersixgill has positively impacted our organization significantly because it helps us by providing leaked information in case a client is being attacked."
"The solution’s approach of using limited open source intelligence and focusing, instead, on the Deep Web and Dark Web is what seals the deal. That is why I like them. I have other tools that I can aggregate all the open source intelligence from. I value Cybersixgill because it provides access to things that no one else does."
"The size and scope of the solution’s collection is amazing, and when we compare what other solutions can and cannot do, we see how Cybersixgill Investigative Portal is superior in many ways."
"They also provide some of the greatest notification capabilities. I put in a customer's company name and domain names, or sometimes I put in their IP addresses as a keyword. Once Sixgill collects information that includes those keywords, they then provide us email notifications. That means we can catch information related to our customers as soon as possible."
"I have been very vocal about how much this tool has helped."
"If you are looking for threat intelligence that can cater to various needs from IOC to threat advisories and along with dark web intelligence, then you should try Cybersixgill."
"Cybersixgill has positively impacted many organizations by being able to quickly identify what attack is taking place."
"The advanced analysis has made our security operations more efficient. It has also potentially given us quicker access to data that we might not have otherwise located."

Cons

"There is room for improvement in Bugcrowd's response time when customer input is needed for resolving tickets. If this time could be minimized, it would be very helpful."
"The triaging process has slowed down compared to three years ago. It now takes more time to resolve a reported vulnerability and receive the payout."
"Bugcrowd could be improved or enhanced as they seem to have a lot of internal churn at the moment, so they could be more stable and more customer-focused."
"Bugcrowd should provide more access to the reports, similar to HackerOne, allowing for full disclosure once a bug is resolved, so researchers can learn from them. They should improve the responsibility type and response time of their customer support, especially when the issue is urgent."
"I think the way they can be improved is to be able to initially during the onboarding, make sure that the false positives are correctly addressed to really do the tweaks that need to be done to filter through exactly what the organization is trying to accomplish and give them the outcomes they are looking for without all the extra noise or chatter."
"The breadth of access to data is good, but there are gaps. More data would be my suggestion because the platform is good and I have no complaints about the system. I think it is just a case of always trying to get more data sources."
"Sixgill has strong capabilities based on search queries, but there is some difficulty in using Sixgill. Their querying is very powerful but it can be difficult. It's not hugely complex but you need some skill to use Sixgill querying."
"We need real-time updated information. If we could have this, it would be amazing."
"Regarding their scraping abilities, things could be solidified. There are definitely improvements that could be made on the specificity for setting certain queries."
"We need real-time updated information. If we could have this, it would be amazing. For example, if someone was posting something, then ten second later, it was on the platform. Sometimes, it takes a minute or hours right now, depending on the forum."
"I want to highlight that sometimes Cybersixgill retrieves leak information from the past two years, which can be very irrelevant to the client."
"The breadth of access to data is good, but there are gaps."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Sometimes, Cybersixgill Investigative Portal is cheaper than its competitors."
"The pricing is cheap compared with Recorded Future. Sixgill's cost-effectiveness is very good."
"The pricing and licensing are good. It is expensive for us because the US dollar is quite strong compared to our dollar. Otherwise, it is quite reasonable for what it is. All the tools in the market are around the same price from my experience."
