Crowdsourced triage has uncovered critical website vulnerabilities and continuously improves our security posture
Bugcrowd could be improved or enhanced as they seem to have a lot of internal churn at the moment, so they could be more stable and more customer-focused. By customer-focused, I mean they are not very good at communicating what is changing on their side to their customers. I am now on my fourth account manager within one year. My latest call with them was with the fourth account manager saying there have been many changes and apologizing that no one I have spoken to in the past is on this call, but going forwards it will be them. With the fourth account manager in a year, it is hard to trust that message.

Monitoring has improved data loss detection and now spots abnormal internal file transfers quickly
In my understanding, the best feature Darktrace offers is the identification of copying files, which acts as a DLP, and it is a main concern for companies because users sometimes copy data outside without knowing, especially those without a technical background. When I mention the DLP-like feature and file copying detection, the alerts have been very timely, as we get an alert within a couple of minutes, which is excellent. Even if some developers are working after hours and copying files, our SOC team detects this, and most of the time they call us so we can identify the users. The alerts are quite accurate and proactive.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"I would rate Bugcrowd a ten out of ten."
"Bugcrowd's use of crowdsourced hackers has helped in discovering unique vulnerabilities."
"I believe Bugcrowd is highly stable."
"The most valuable aspect of Bugcrowd is that it provides a long list of different websites or web applications where I can report vulnerabilities."
"Bugcrowd's support team is very active and supportive."
"Working on Bugcrowd has made me a better security engineer since it provides a competitive environment to report successful vulnerabilities."
"Bugcrowd has programs that disclose rewards and invite researchers to new programs."
"One of the features I like most about Bugcrowd is the ability to create a report in a very easy way."
"Darktrace provides better visibility into network risks, allowing you to take preemptive action against risky user behavior."
"Darktrace is very stable, and I would rate its stability a ten out of ten."
"The technical support from Darktrace is very good, including support from their resellers."
"Overall, this is a good product that seems to be working well."
"The most valuable feature has been the behavioral analytics that allows us to monitor all the traffic."
"The ability to see what we have not seen before is most valuable. It is very interesting to find out the most vulnerable devices in our network."
"It is really good; it has given us a view of our company and it has actually caught a couple of people that were doing data exfiltration and stealing data from our company, and we caught them doing it in the act in live time, which is just incredible."
"The initial setup is simple."

Cons

"The triaging process has slowed down compared to three years ago. It now takes more time to resolve a reported vulnerability and receive the payout."
"Bugcrowd should provide more access to the reports, similar to HackerOne, allowing for full disclosure once a bug is resolved, so researchers can learn from them. They should improve the responsibility type and response time of their customer support, especially when the issue is urgent."
"There is room for improvement in Bugcrowd's response time when customer input is needed for resolving tickets. If this time could be minimized, it would be very helpful."
"Bugcrowd could be improved or enhanced as they seem to have a lot of internal churn at the moment, so they could be more stable and more customer-focused."
"Pricing bothers me and this is one of the major factors when choosing a solution."
"We want to continue using Darktrace but it's very expensive."
"Needs to improve its collaboration with local partners."
"Upper management wasn't sold on the value proposition."
"One area for improvement is the alerting system, which generates too many alerts and becomes labor-intensive for organizations not equipped with enough personnel in their SOC."
"The solution can improve the reporting. Currently, it only runs weekly and the reporting is complex."
"I would like to see more protection in the endpoint. Especially because we have a lot of people using VPNs. If they would improve end point security, it would give more control there."
"I would like for the product to work on the endpoints as well. I would like to see enhanced visibility into the endpoints and network but this solution only sits on the network itself."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The pricing is quite high, estimated at around $350,000 per year."
"It is expensive."
"All of the other modules, such as the licensing modules, are on par. It's one for one."
"The solution is about $6,000 per quarter."
"The pricing is expensive. It costs over $100,000 a year."
"It is a very expensive product."
"The pricing is a little high compared to the competition."
"We had an issue with pricing initially and had to cancel some of the features of the projects to fit the budget. I would like to see pricing that is not broken up into parts so that we can buy the whole package once. Darktrace is more expensive than an average solution, but it's functionality won't match that of an average solution."
