Efficient, user-friendly, and affordable
In the past, NSS Labs was utilized to test files and verify the numbers and datasheets. It would be beneficial to have an organization or testing lab that can verify the numbers in our datasheets since changes are frequently made, which can be inconvenient for review. For instance, when comparing different competitors such as Forcepoint, Palo Alto, and Check Point, the throughput or numbers in the datasheet may be lower than the actual numbers. Conversely, Fortinet typically reports very high numbers, but they cannot be replicated in the real world. Therefore, it would be advantageous for them to partner with a neutral testing organization such as NSS Labs to validate these numbers, thus providing more credibility and comfort to everyone regarding the accuracy of the datasheets. For the migration, everyone has a firewall in use and I am selling Fortinet. Typically, I am replacing another firewall. Previously, there was a tool available to convert configurations from one firewall, such as Palo Alto, to Fortinet, but this tool is no longer free. If it could be made free again, it would be very beneficial. This tool shows a lot of promise and is very good. Making it free would help many companies deliver their products in a more efficient and integrated way. It would also be more valuable to include the tool with the firewall package or license instead of having to pay extra for it. Paying extra puts more pressure on small companies to deliver the firewall and complete the configuration, especially if they have hundreds or thousands of policies. It's very painful to move through these policies line by line. The stability has room for improvement. When it comes to Secure SD-WAN, everything is fine. They are going the right way. SD-WAN is very promising. They can provide the SD-WAN solution separately, but they will not take this approach because even the smallest firewall can support the features, so there is no need to have a separate service or appliance. They are following the right steps, and there is nothing to be improved. Feature-wise, I'm really satisfied with the new release, and the features they have added. For now, it's fine.

Streamlined management through dual-interface configuration capabilities with excellent support
We use Check Point NGFW for security purposes. Our clients use it for security reasons, as mentioned during the call The most valuable feature is the availability of two consoles. In the normal GA login, I can create interfaces and configure interface IPs, while in the SmartConsole, I manage the…

Enhanced threat detection with integrated security features and good support
We are using application firewalling, WAF, and SD-WAN. The capabilities are mostly within the box. For example, you will get web application firewall WAF as part and parcel of this. SD-WAN is also bundled. It integrates with their SIEM and SOAR solutions very nicely. Lastly, the pricing point is very cost-efficient as well.

"The initial setup is easy."
"The product offers very good security."
"The most valuable features of the solution are SD-WAN, filtering testing applications, web filtering, and the new VPN."

"I like that you are able to manage FortiGate from the FortiManager to create a more centralized environment."
"The pricing is okay."
"It filters unwanted traffic."
"The management is very handy and intuitive, and it has a lot of features."
"SmartCenter and SmartLog are the best platforms to manage firewall rules. SandBlast Zero-Day is very useful when encountering any security leaks."
"Check Point is able to satisfy almost any security tool for enterprise clients. This allows us to deploy complex changes from a single management interface, get better visibility, and significantly reduce operational complexity."
"The packet inspections have been a strong point."
"Sandboxing is the most valuable feature."
"The product's ease of use is a significant advantage, and the interface is very intuitive."
"Sangfor NGAF's standout feature is its powerful application control, enabling precise restrictions on mobile user access to approved applications."
"The built-in features function as intended, providing exceptional value."
"We've found the technical support to be helpful."
"In our hospital, Sangfor NGAF works well for us in terms of ensuring confidentiality and availability, which are crucial in the healthcare industry."
"The tool's performance is good."
"Sangfor has the best capabilities for securing connections, securing web browsers, securing servers, and general threat protection."
"The level of support provided to local companies is good. They transform their application control and other settings according to that country."
"We can utilize our own network rather than paying for a private one."

Cons

"Improvement is needed in the Web Filter quotas to restrict users with allocated quotas."
"WAN load-balancing could be a lot better at detecting when a link is poor or inconsistent, and not just flat out dead."
"It is very expensive, and their support is not very good. I hope that their technical support will be better in the future."
"The solution lacks multi-language support."
"Fortinet FortiGate could improve by adding enhancements to FortiMail, FortiSOAR, and FortiDeceptor."
"It can be a little bit more user-friendly in terms of policy definition and implementation. It seems a little bit complicated, and it could be simplified."
"The way everything is set up could be easier. Currently, people need a lot of experience and knowledge to administer it and to link it to devices."
"Due to its higher cost, Fortinet FortiGate can lead to increased operational expenses."
"For the next release, we would like to have better ruleset cleanup tools that are already included."
"Check Point would benefit from having a single console for both basic and policy configurations."
"The product could provide an easier user interface and management, by combining all functions (network and policy configuration) into one single application rather than split it into different applications."
"The complexity involved in the solution's initial setup phase and deployment process is an area of concern where improvement is required."
"Something worth mentioning is the need for Spanish support and better representation for teams in the Latin American area."
"Check Point Smart Dashboard does not support my Apple MacBook Air. It only supports Windows versions."
"It could be easier to access the installation of the Hostfix for VSX solutions. The CLI commands help us understand how virtual firewalls behave in terms of processor, memory, and other aspects. More graphic visualizations of CPUSE commands would be a welcome improvement, and Check Point could expand scripts to run within the solution for multiple tasks."
"While the solution is good, we wish to have something that is a bit better, as the threats have evolved over time."
"Sangfor has recently increased their prices."
"The solution should be able to work in a hybrid setup."
"I feel Sangfor should follow the hierarchy and close deals via resellers instead of closing it all with their own team."
"Lacks consistency in terms of filtering certain websites and applications."
"An area for improvement would be the number of ports defined on the box. In the next release, I would like them to develop their provisioning stage of enrolling end devices."
"The web interface needs to be improved, making it more user-friendly."
"I believe that IAM and NGFW need to merge into a single box, instead of there being two separate box solutions."
"The tool's support is an area of concern where improvements are required."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost of Fortinet FortiGate is competitive and not expensive compared to other enterprise- grade solutions. On average, the license cost per year is around seventy percent of the firewall's purchase price."
"Our licensing costs are on a yearly basis."
"The price of Fortinet FortiGate could improve, it is expensive."
"Fortinet FortiGate is cheaper than Palo Alto. It is about 20% cheaper."
"Its price could be better."
"It is affordable. Palo Alto is much more expensive than Fortinet."
"I find it quite reasonable."
"We have the full license that included all of the features and support."
"The tool is a bit expensive."
"If you use the features then it's cost-effective. Otherwise, it's expensive."
"Maybe the pricing is a bit high but you get the durability and the duration."
"I don't think the product's pricing is a good value. I feel it's very overpriced. I feel a lot of the features for a next gen firewall are there. But I feel it's overpriced, because of the stability issues. As far as support goes, I really can't speak to direct Check Point support, but the third-party was pretty terrible... As far as the licensing goes, it's pretty complex. If anybody was to purchase the Check Point product, definitely make sure they have an account rep come on site, and explain it line by line, what each thing is. It's not straightforward. It's very convoluted. There's no way you could just figure it out by looking at it."
"The pricing and licensing part is something that could be improved. Check Point license and pricing are a bit higher compared to competing firewalls. I think they can work on that."
"It is a notably expensive product in our country compared to FortiGate and other servers."
"I rate the pricing of Check Point NGFW a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is high price, and ten is low price."
"The solution is indeed costly."
"We purchased one year technical support and return to factory support, and we also purchased one-year technical support services. So those were additional."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"I rate the product price as one on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price and ten is high price."
"If you know you have around 200+ computer users on your network, then the Sangfor NGAF 5200-F-I model would be the minimum recommended model for that amount of users. This model includes modules for packet filtering, deep packet inspection, malware scanning, DSCP filtration, and many other features."
"For over 2000 users, the cost is around 5000 to 6000 USD. If you want a web application firewall, you have to purchase an additional license for it."
"Sangfor NGAF price is reasonable and there is an annual license. However, the maintenance cost can be a bit high."
"Sangfor is cheaper than competing vendors."
"If one is very cheap and ten is very expensive, I rate the tool's price as three out of ten."
