Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Having everything in one location has significantly improved our efficiency and reporting
We need to be on VPN in order to set up and access the solution, and that has created some challenges. Even though it uses our Windows login, we still have to be on VPN. The product should be able to log tickets directly from system to system. We haven't got there yet and I'm not sure it's possible but it would determine the product's capability to integrate with other systems.

Quite good back-end architecture for end users but the API is very, very bad
Our company uses the solution for system, program, service request, change, and knowledge-based management.  We perform CMD authorizations and use a lot of integrations for our in-house or third-party applications. We also use Salesforce automations and Microsoft orchestrations.  We have about…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"From the second year onward, ROI is achieved, which is a great thing because year-over-year you are accruing those benefits."
"I don't think one feature is more valuable than any other. In my opinion, the value is in the totality of the platform. It is easy to use for our developers with a well laid out UI and many canned tools. The Control Room is very easy to navigate and mostly intuitive to use."
"Before, there was about four to five resources to extract it, now, with automation, this has helped us reduce the time to two to three minutes, then the work will be done."
"As we were closing our fiscal year, we had this huge backlog that we needed to clean up. The business was preparing to hire 12 people to do that, and even though they were not sure they could handle it, we built the process to extract and do the entire process just in two weeks. We were able with a single person to clean the entire backlog, which gave us huge benefits."
"The deployment was good."
"The ease of use of getting started is probably the big thing. They had a lot of references that we were able to check. It is a well-known player, and being able to get up and running quickly was the big thing."
"Automation Anywhere, specifically A2019, has helped us in automating a major chunk of such tasks, thus helped in saving a lot of time, effort, and revenue."
"It's pretty simple and non-invasive."
"All our activities are carried out in the one place."
"The dashboard and the reporting functionality are the solution's most valuable features."
"The dashboard is very useful to get a quick overview of current tasks."
"The best feature is the ability to create functional dashboards, where the IT manager can interact with its data through the dashboard using the drill down feature."
"Implementing CSM has made us very efficient and we're now able to plan changes and the steps required for implementation."
"Its integration features, orchestration features, and discovery tools are the most valuable. It is also pretty stable, and it can be as scalable as you want."
"The most valuable features are problem management and change management."
"We use the solution every day and quite extensively."
"Our users access it via the web. We have external and internal sources, and we're now introducing the mobile app portion so our computer engineers can respond to tickets remotely."
"It's a very flexible platform; you can customize your own things and your own processes, easily extend the natural processes, and customize what you need without it being affected by upgrades."
"This solution has helped align our overall IT and organization strategy because it got rid of shadow systems."
"In addition to IT, we also use this product on our business side to manage lobby flow for clients and workflow for our client service staff, and the product has allowed us to efficiently manage workflow, measure performance, and analyze customer service measures."
"We've improved as an organization very quickly because of it, especially when it comes to self-service capabilities for our customers."
"The most important part is the user experience, as CA Service Desk Manager provides a great and helpful experience with constant updates and always thinking about and looking out for the user."
"For me, the best feature is the powerful tool to integrate all processes for IT to monitor."
"We have decreased training and talk time, and all those good stats, just by reusing information, not reinventing it, every time we get a call."

Cons

"The control room itself is easy to use. One area that could potentially be improved is adding additional widget capability within the main dashboard in the control room itself."
"It would be better if they could extend the support for AA version 11 for a few more years, as most of the companies have tasks completed in AA version 11, and A2019 is much slower compared to AA 11."
"When you are implementing it initially, it's challenging as there's a lot of change management."
"In the control room, the manual bot update should be looked at."
"With our current version, we are experiencing issues with the access of the Control Room. Therefore, at the moment, we cannot really scale."
"If I want to do something that is more purely business-related and is somewhat complex to write or is nuanced, I sometimes have trouble implementing that inside of the Automation Anywhere script. I feel limited at times with some of the looping and some of the branching and some of the ways to make procedure calls when I have a complex business issue."
"Automation Anywhere is expensive. They should consider lowering the price to make Automation Anywhere more affordable to SMEs, which comprise a huge segment."
"I would like to see web and cloud-based platforms for future releases."
"The solution could be more user-friendly."
"Access is only available if we're on VPN."
"Areas for improvement would be the service catalog and customer catalog, which is not very user-friendly. The shopping cart experience is also terrible - you submit and go straight to the cart, you can't continue shopping or see your overall cost."
"They need to improve their mobile interface, as well as features regarding the extension of the mobile access to the end user."
"Application service mapping, GRC, SecOps, and things like that need improvement."
"The stability, specifically in the on-premises deployment model, could be improved."
"The support from the actual manufacturer is poor."
"Agile delivery should be supported."
"CA tools can be very useful when you have the right vendors on board, otherwise it becomes a disaster for your organisation."
"Compared to some of the other products, I think we are bit behind."
"I noticed more crashing for some strange reason, being that it's on our own servers and we don't know why."
"We would love to see it integrating with other products like Splunk for log collection, integration to SMS facilities."
"Support is a problem area for us. They take too long to respond to tickets logged."
"The part of notification methods and satisfaction surveys remain almost unchanged."
"Room for improvement I would say from a back end perspective, I would say they need to streamline a lot of the code that they're using. I think it's very bloated, I think it has a lot of extra things that it doesn't really need."
"We periodically run into issues with the stability of the application."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price is very reasonable."
"Automation Anywhere is somewhat expensive. The prices are slightly higher, but if you need something, you must pay for it."
"It saves on the quality of work, because the quality can be bad when somebody's doing it. If a bot does the work, it's faster and comes with good quality. These are two important things along with the cost saving in the long run. That's where the value is."
"There is a free trial so that they can get an overview, and there are different licenses that are very affordable and can suit every business model."
"The cost can be reduced a little for users."
"The cost of this solution is a little bit high, but it is worth the price."
"Automation Anywhere might have a higher upfront cost than some competitors, but its extensive features and seamless integration with other tools can save organizations money in the long run."
"The pricing is fair. My company is part of a big organization, so the pricing is very advantageous."
"For an ITIL user, the cost is probably about 50 bucks a month."
"There is a subscripted needed to use Clarity SM. The price of the solution could be less expensive. ServiceNow is less expensive and BMC Helix is priced similar to Clarity SM."
"Pricing is simple, as it’s per concurrent analysts."
"It is a bit expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for. It is worth it!"
"I don't see anyone other than large companies being able to afford this system."
"Clarity offers a perpetual license. Customers purchase the license once and then pay for maintenance. CA provides a subscription model as well. Both models are available for our customers."
"The pricing is based on a subscription model."
"The solution is quite reasonable compared to other solutions in the market."
"I think pricing of this model is suitable for growing corporations."
