Long experience has delivered fast, reliable networking and intuitive management for clients
Regarding Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches, there is nothing technically that needs improvement, but the support and cost are significant concerns. The main issue is that many customers are hesitant to purchase Cisco products because the support costs are very high. When I compare it to HP Aruba switches, for example, the support from HP is almost free. Cisco always charges for support, which is understandable because Cisco has a very large support organization like Cisco TAC behind it. Additionally, upgrades are not free with Cisco. Other vendors offer switch upgrades and firmware upgrades mostly free of charge. These are my main concerns.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is reliable."
"Cisco is absolutely the very best in its class."
"I'd advise potential users to just go for it, as they will not be disappointed in this product."
"Cisco Linksys is scalable. You can use it as an extender, too."
"It's scalable, it is cloud-based controlled, we don't need to buy a dedicated controller, and it allows me to control all of my access points everywhere in all my companies."
"Overall, they have a good quality product."
"Cisco's product is excellent and highly stable with decades of experience in switching and technology. It's a top-notch solution when your entire network operates within the Cisco ecosystem, allowing for a wide range of capabilities. However, the challenge with Cisco lies in its prioritization. When integrating with third-party solutions, like Juniper, it can be somewhat challenging, but it still performs reasonably well. Setting up Cisco switches is not a straightforward process; it's complex and requires more than simply powering them on and figuring things out as you go. You need a solid understanding of switch and stack configuration because Cisco has its unique software features. Cisco excels in vendor lock-in, meaning that if you want to combine Cisco switches with non-Cisco functionality, it can be both time-consuming and costly. While Cisco offers the most extensive capabilities, it can also be less flexible and more challenging when you want to deviate from the Cisco ecosystem."
"Cisco is well-known, reliable, and stable for networking solutions."
"We have not encountered any issues in the locations where the product has been deployed. I am impressed with its performance and pricing."
"The solution's most valuable feature is its very simple configuration."
"Huawei Ethernet switches are easy to use and can be managed using either the GUI or via the command-line."
"The velocity of the process is the most valuable feature."
"The technical documentation available is very good. The technical support for the customer is also good - I would give it 8 out of 10."
"The most valuable features are that it is easy to use, easy to configure, it's priced well, and the operating system is easy to understand."
"The initial setup of the solution was easy, it took 20 to 25 minutes."
"The solution has been pretty solid so far."

Cons

"Their price is quite high compared to their competitors."
"The installation could be simplified."
"The manageability could be improved."
"There is a four-month wait list for certified switches and licenses in Libya because they must be shipped from Dubai."
"The solution's support can use improvement because they are not very good at following up."
"It is costly. Because of its pricing, customers are not ready to buy Cisco solutions, and they are going for other brands."
"The documentation should be improved from Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches. Although it hints or refers to being able to do certain operations, they try to get you to load the software instead. They need to be more open with their documentation on using the web interface and give the client the option to use the software or not. This improvement is not on the switch itself, it is in the packaging."
"Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches’s stability and pricing needs improvement."
"I would like to see more training opportunities available."
"The availability and the speed of the firmware updates are the only things wrong with Huawei. There are some vulnerabilities on the hardware."
"The solution should make the text report more accessible."
"The configuration is very difficult even for someone who is already familiar with the configuration process."
"The solution needs to be more user-friendly."
"The only thing that could be better is the security module."
"Deploying Huawei Ethernet Switches in an organization offers advantages, especially if the decision is made early in the process and the company opts for a single-vendor approach. This simplifies implementation and customization, often resulting in lower prices and tailored solutions from Huawei. However, excessive customization can lead to support issues and challenges in knowledge transfer during employee turnover."
"The licensing cost attached to the solution is atrocious, so from an improvement perspective, it should be made cheaper."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's an affordable price for small companies using on-premises networks where cloud services are too expensive for them."
"There is not a license to use the solution but we have a license for support."
"It is cheap."
"The product is expensive."
"The licensing cost is not bad and is actually very competitive within the product category."
"If you look at the product portfolio from Cisco, it's quite expensive."
"The price of this solution is high, but it depends on the number of units that you want to order."
"The tool's price is reasonable."
"We only pay one-off instead of paying recurring license fees."
"The solution's price is reasonable compared to other products like Cisco."
"Huawei comes with a lot of features out of the box that you have to pay extra for with other products. They do charge extra in the licensing for certain additional features."
"The price is one of the only issues I have regarding this solution."
"The tool's price is affordable and I would rate it a five out of ten. The prices are fixed with no additional cost involved."
"We have a one-year license. There are no additional costs besides the licensing fee."
"From the initial purchase, you will pay for a license and you do not need to pay for a license again. The price depends on the size of the infrastructure."
"The pricing is good. Still, I can choose a cheaper solution that offers a good value."
