Have streamlined network visibility and troubleshooting while seeing benefits from AI integration
In terms of improvements for Cisco Secure Network Analytics, from the implementation point of view, now that AI is in use, some other features need to be upgraded considering AI solutions. Proper management of the database is also important; it should be centralized for easier data collection from a single database. When precise manual analysis is needed, it's sometimes difficult, so having a centralized database will allow network admins to find actual scenarios more effectively, especially since some information may not be visible on the GUI. Cisco should upgrade their hardware part to run the database, because sometimes it cannot handle the load while all features are running in the network. The database management should indeed be centralized because while AI runs behind the systems, central management is essential. For example, in a network with 100 Cisco switches, a few routers, firewalls, and access points, all data generated should be preserved in a central database. This approach simplifies management and analysis for troubleshooting, as GUI interfaces may not always provide visible information. Centralizing the database will allow for better understanding of which information is preserved for each specific device.

The solution is useful for monitoring network devices, but the interface is old-fashioned
The solution is useful for monitoring network devices We use it for up-and-down monitoring features. It’s an old solution. It has an old-fashioned interface. The product must provide a compliance testing feature. I have been using the solution for six years. I rate the tool’s stability a ten…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is anomaly detection, where it finds things that are not allowed internally."
"The deployment was a breeze. It is a very innovative and robust platform that allows us to bi-directionally stitch together data elements from Netflow-enabled devices to provide a context for network utilization."
"Cisco Stealthwatch has improved our organization's analytics and threat protection capabilities by catching threats early on and it saved us a net fortune when we caught an employee constantly pulling three or four GBs of data from an FTP server."
"Cisco Stealthwatch has improved our organization because it has brought visibility that we didn't have previously before implementing it."
"Cisco Stealthwatch has reduced the amount of time to detect an immediate threat."
"Great network monitoring, looking at anomaly detection and evaluation."
"The most valuable features include encrypted traffic analytics and the ability to fulfill requirements at the network level."
"Using the Cognitive Analytics feature, we have complete visibility that we didn’t have before."
"The tool's UI is user-friendly, and pricing is affordable. It is very easy to deploy and learn."
"This is a product that I can recommend."
"Its initial setup process is straightforward."
"It is highly customizable and can be integrated well with third-party software."
"The initial setup is easy."
"The solution offers very good system monitoring; it's easy to manage your network, as well as your hardware and software, and it's really useful."
"I have found that it has a good GUI and user-friendly administration."
"The network monitoring feature, especially, stands out to me."

Cons

"We've run into some issues with the configuration."
"The customizability of the UI should improve."
"If there was one improvement I’d suggest it would be that it detect traffic through an intranet. The product requires that traffic flow through a managed network device. The product is designed mostly for enterprise environments and not smaller environments or businesses."
"Many of these tools require extensive on-premises hardware to run."
"One update that I would like to see is an agent-based client. Currently, Stealthwatch is network-based. A local agent could help manage endpoints."
"We would like the solution to make more advances in the way that Extreme Networks has been doing."
"Improvements are needed on the application layer for complete security analysis."
"Cisco could improve the administration for the customers."
"They need to have some automation models embedded in them."
"It has an old-fashioned interface."
"I think the reports can be improved. They're adopted."
"Nagios Network Analyzer should integrate an application monitoring solution to monitor application bandwidth usage."
"It's very hard to install materials. You need a lot of documentation. They should make it easier to install and configure the solution."
"The graphics and reports can be a little bit better."
"The bandwidth for its front-end version needs enhancement."
"There is room for improvement on the setup side."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The yearly licensing cost is about $50,000."
"The solution is expensive. It costs several hundred thousand dollars per year (depending on how many flows you are collecting)."
"One of the things which bugs me about Lancope is the licensing. We understand how licensing works. Our problem is when we bought and purchased most of these Lancope devices, we did so with our sister company. Somewhere within the purchase and distribution, licensing got mixed up. That is all on Cisco, and it is their responsibility. They allotted some of our sister company's equipment to us, and some of our equipment to them. To date, they have never been able to fix it."
"Licensing is done by flows per second, not including outside (in traffic)."
"This is an expensive product. We have quit paying for support because we don't want to have to upgrade it and keep paying for it."
"The tool is not cheaply priced."
"Our fees are approximately $3,000 USD."
"It has a subscription model. There is yearly support, and there is also three-year support. It depends on what the customers want."
"They charge around ten thousand per month for one thousand nodes. That is their overall cost, but it differs on which company you are applying to, whether you are a service provider or an enterprise."
"I rate Nagios Network Analyzer's pricing a six out of ten."
"The solution is cost-efficient."
