Blocks threats before they reach the user's device
Cisco Umbrella can be improved in terms of limited coverage and wind vulnerability. The product can only shield a small area, making it less effective for larger spaces or multiple users. Additionally, strong winds can disrupt its functionality, and the opening and closing mechanism can be awkward in tight spaces.

Offers reasonable pricing and solid scalability in the enterprise context
In my limited experience with Webroot, it has shown good scalability, particularly in the enterprise context. When it comes to Webroot DNS, I find it to be a nice solution but prefer a more comprehensive approach. I lean towards XDR vendors that can integrate DNS protection into a unified dashboard, especially as traditional anti-malware solutions like Webroot face challenges with evolving threat actors. Currently, I have around 60,000 Webroot users for anti-malware, but for DNS protection, it is a fraction—about one or two percent—since some clients opt for other solutions. Traditional anti-malware technology is becoming less effective against sophisticated threats.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It blocks malicious DNS queries daily which is very beneficial."
"The most valuable thing is how easy it is to deploy. We did it with 9,000 users at my last job, and it took a week to get to all the endpoints. Doing that without having to physically touch all those endpoints was very simple."
"The most valuable features of this solution are the Web Filtering and the APT."
"You can manage and create policies based on a group of users. It can permit some URLs and block others."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to filter malware sites that could infect clients or allow them to download infected files."
"For us and for customers, it's the ease of integration with Meraki. It's just a couple of clicks. That allows us to deploy very fast, and it doesn't change the way a customer uses his service. It's just more secure."
"The most valuable features are the protection against ransomware and phishing."
"It offers good visibility for the Administrator. The administrator has full visibility of what is blocked or has the knowledge of where users go when they are surfing the internet."
"Webroot excels in DNS protection, particularly in blocking malicious sites and phishing."
"The installation is easy and doesn't take long. The program speedy and doesn't crash. It doesn't consume computer hardware or software."
"DNS protection is valuable."
"When compared with other products, Webroot DNS Protection is the best to secure the end users."
"Almost everyone who uses it is happy about the product. I don't get any types of complaints from my clients."

Cons

"Their support should be improved. It is necessary that the support is efficient. It is not really easy to get a resolution for an issue from Cisco support. They should be faster and more efficient."
"The pricing could always be a little bit better."
"I think it's a very basic solution, and because of that, Cisco Umbrella would not be a suitable solution for large companies."
"If the virtual appliances could also gather traffic bandwidth reports, that would be great."
"Its price could be better."
"If I want to see which users access a website, I need an Active Directory registered on Umbrella's cloud."
"The price could be better. The price is definitely a bit high, but we have to pay a premium for Cisco products."
"The pricing could be improved."
"It addresses a specific risk related to malicious sites but doesn't cover broader security aspects."
"Reporting is not done in real-time. Rather, it is done in 15-minute intervales. This is something that should be configurable by the admin."
"The price could be improved."
"It needs to be more secure for production environments."
"The reporting system needs improvement. They should make is that we can customize it so we can add, remove or change its interface but they use a template. The reports cannot be changed."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price could be lower."
"The pricing is pretty fair. It's good."
"The price of Cisco Umbrella is a little higher than similar solutions, like Gateway."
"The licensing part for Umbrella is really flexible."
"Its value exceeds its pricing."
"The pricing is fair."
"I think it's worth the money."
"The price is quite good."
