Data governance has transformed business glossaries and now drives AI-ready insights
I think it's a great platform. Searching can be made a little better. The data marketplace which it provides is also great, but sometimes when we are searching an element and we know we are not sure if we can find it or if we have missed it. Listing data domains in one place for quick visibility will be an add-on. I am not a hardcore coder. For a coder to create workflows and automate the process, I needed to learn Groovy script and create some workflows. In the automation part, I think it can also introduce a low-code, no-code platform where we can connect different connectors and we can quickly create some automated workflows, if at basic level only, because the next big thing is automation and AI. Low-code, no-code platforms are being used by everyone. I think that will be useful. When I look for a data domain, I'm not able to find it very quickly. For a business owner to know data domains and search data domains, it could be made a little easier. Also, the automation part needs improvement. We are only able to enter the data manually or connect to a data source, but now we want to create some workflows as well. That's why I've chosen a rating of eight. Otherwise, it's really great.

Automated data labeling has reduced manual work and supports our privacy compliance needs
We would like to enforce labeling currently in place. If a document is classified as strictly confidential, we want to be able to apply a profile that can cause documents to expire or revoke access anywhere the document is. We need a security feature so that if we have classified a document as strictly confidential and given it to a third party, that document remains strictly confidential. There has to be a way to enforce it and prevent the document from being shared with any other person apart from the person it was sent to. We do not want AI in security products for now, as AI in security products tends to be risky. AI can improve reporting and detection, but it should not execute.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have seen a return on investment, as previously it took weeks or even months to find the actual data owner, while now it takes just seconds or a few minutes, indicating a significant increase."
"Collibra Governance reduces the time-consuming aspects of the process; you'll need only one-fifth of the team as it'll depend on two to three people, and that's really important to businesses."
"The product's most valuable features are cataloging and classification."
"It's incredibly easy to use."
"It's a user-friendly tool, even for non-technical people."
"The solution's most valuable feature is data cataloging."
"Collibra's lineage is a very powerful feature. We have integrated Collibra with Azure and ADLS storage and we create lineage diagrams using the two tools."
"Collibra Platform is a wonderful platform that has helped with metadata ingestion in real projects."
"It's highly flexible and scalable, offering customers the choice to match their needs and budget."
"Netwrix Data Classification Manager finds the data in a very efficient manner, and the efficacy of the solution is very good."
"There is a massive cost saving; it is easy to use, the reporting is clean, and it is simpler to use than the Microsoft DLP solution, Purview."

Cons

"No easy way to connect to different data sources."
"Collibra, as far as I know, does not have a connector like Oracle, or a mainframe. It's important to have a connector so that you have access to up-to-date information."
"When we are doing discovery for unstructured data sources, I would suggest a quality report of the data that would indicate what was unable to process."
"There are certain processes that involve a lot of manual work, specifically when searching for attributes assignment. It would be better if we could do this via APIs."
"The domain-based approach could be more helpful for aspects such as customer 360 and product 360."
"Collibra Governance is expensive - I would rate its pricing as one out of five."
"There is room for improvement in Collibra Lineage as it could incorporate automation features which would allow it to find data lineage across a data stack independently."
"It should have more integrations with things like CyberArk because its main purpose is GDPR implementation."
"One of the key issues is its interface and querying capabilities, which can be complex, making it difficult to interpret logs."
"Netwrix Data Classification Manager is very good at network data classification, but it also has to work on endpoint data classification because clients ask for it."
"We would like to enforce labeling currently in place. If a document is classified as strictly confidential, we want to be able to apply a profile that can cause documents to expire or revoke access anywhere the document is."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate the pricing a three on a scale of one to ten, where one is expensive, and ten is cheap."
"I think it is on a yearly basis, but I'm not involved with the pricing session, so I have no idea. There are several licenses for different models. You get one license per product, but a lot of features are controlled separately through different licenses. So, as and when you want to use a feature, you have to procure the license for that feature."
"I think they have a trust issue. I did not like the way they recently went through the process. They were like, "Finish this SOW first, only then will we sign the other SOW." Or, "Finish this code." I didn't like that much."
"Collibra is a bit expensive."
"The solution's pricing is moderate and not very expensive."
"Collibra provides you with a license based on the subscription model that you purchase."
"Collibra Governance is an expensive solution."
"I think they can bring a few more features and align better with other quality products."
"The initial pricing might seem reasonable, but costs can quickly escalate when adding components."
"Netwrix Data Classification Manager has an affordable price."
