Data governance has transformed business glossaries and now drives AI-ready insights
I think it's a great platform. Searching can be made a little better. The data marketplace which it provides is also great, but sometimes when we are searching an element and we know we are not sure if we can find it or if we have missed it. Listing data domains in one place for quick visibility will be an add-on. I am not a hardcore coder. For a coder to create workflows and automate the process, I needed to learn Groovy script and create some workflows. In the automation part, I think it can also introduce a low-code, no-code platform where we can connect different connectors and we can quickly create some automated workflows, if at basic level only, because the next big thing is automation and AI. Low-code, no-code platforms are being used by everyone. I think that will be useful. When I look for a data domain, I'm not able to find it very quickly. For a business owner to know data domains and search data domains, it could be made a little easier. Also, the automation part needs improvement. We are only able to enter the data manually or connect to a data source, but now we want to create some workflows as well. That's why I've chosen a rating of eight. Otherwise, it's really great.

A seamless all-in-one solution
This solution is seamless. From one platform, we can do just about anything. With other solutions, you'll need a separate platform for data ingestion, manipulation, etc. Then you'll need another tool for reporting. Palantir Gotham literally does it all. It generates a report regardless of the format. It can seamlessly generate it after the data has been collected.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Provides a good view of the data and how it's being utilized, as well as calibration quality."
"I like Collibra's flexibility. I like to be able to modify things for our own use. For example, we've chosen to use Collibra also as a knowledge management tool, even though it is not designed to be a knowledge management tool. That's the beauty of it. It can serve as a knowledge management tool by creating some custom assets specifically for knowledge management."
"Workflow is very helpful and assessment are good features. I really like the structure of this solution and how it is compartmentalized."
"It's a user-friendly tool, even for non-technical people."
"The solution has good workflows and is based on AIML."
"I definitely think Collibra is the gold standard in terms of combining user experience with the actual capabilities."
"Collibra Platform has had a positive impact on structure, transparency, and alignment around data in my organization."
"This solution is user friendly and offers multiple functionalities. It operates like a kind of a repository that allows you to find anything about a particular data set or field."
"This solution is seamless. From one platform, we can do just about anything."

Cons

"There are a lot of gaps in Collibra's support and documentation."
"The management of the speed of the tool is not that great."
"Collibra, as far as I know, does not have a connector like Oracle, or a mainframe. It's important to have a connector so that you have access to up-to-date information."
"Certain implementations, including lineage maps, could be user-friendly."
"We had issues during setup."
"With Collibra Data Intelligence Platform, users need to create and establish connections, which requires entering connection details. This process is more time-consuming in Collibra Data Intelligence Platform compared to Purview, where everything can be done in minutes."
"The connectors are not very sophisticated. They can do, for example, Informatica and Tableau, but the connectors themselves could be improved."
"The breadth of available connectors for metadata ingestion need to grow quickly to support customers as they expand their data governance programs to include a diverse list of source systems from which they want to derive business value."
"I think there should be less coding involved. Currently, using it involves a tremendous amount of coding."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate the pricing a three on a scale of one to ten, where one is expensive, and ten is cheap."
"Collibra is a bit expensive."
"It's expensive, especially for small companies."
"The solution's pricing is moderate and not very expensive."
"Many of our customers I spoke to felt that the solution is a bit highly-priced."
"It is substantial, and we do pay yearly."
"We purchase its annual license. There is an extra cost for additional users."
"Generally, it is a rather expensive solution compared to some other tools in the market, but I found it to be fair-priced for its capabilities."
