Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Automated alerting and reporting excel while cost and feature limitations remain
I find automation to be one of the best and most valuable features of the product. Machine learning is incorporated into the solution, though AI is a broader term that I wouldn't apply here. I haven't personally explored AI yet, but I will investigate it. Machine learning functions more as automation in my experience, as there's no training involved yet. I want to conduct R&D on another project with Wazuh to determine how to capture usage, for example, tracking user logins and time spent. This is where I need to implement machine learning. Additionally, the extraction of GeoIP adds complexity. The solution is effectively reducing incident response times in operations.

Pros

"I have found the solution to be very easy in respect of the integration and configurable."
"The user interface of the solution is sophisticated and straightforward."
"It has pretty much everything we need and works well within the Palo Alto ecosystem."
"The solution allows control over the user and his machine through Cortex XDR security policies."
"The protection offered by this product is good, as is the endpoint reporting."
"The multi-layered approach to the product gives you confidence that it will stop exploits, ransomware, worms, or viruses from compromising endpoints, essentially providing peace of mind."
"It is a simple platform to use."
"It is easy to use."
"The integration capabilities of ConnectWise SIEM are off the shelf, making it easy to buy and use; you just unpack it and use it."
"We have found the solution has great functionality and it is easy to use."
"We have found the solution has great functionality and it is easy to use."
"One valuable feature of ConnectWise Fortify is the ability to add other teams and receive notifications when customers make changes or remove multi-factor authentication in Microsoft or SAP environments."
"The solution has all the features that we need, however they do not work correctly."
"It allows for a lot of out-of-the-box features: vuln scanning, HIDS/HIPS, and IDS."
"SIEM log collection is great, and all of the rules that support updates with maintenance."
"Students becoming acclimated to the product can go out into the field and have first-hand knowledge on how to use a USM or SIEM product."
"It is my "security person" looking at irregularities and letting me know when something has occurred."
"We are able to get alerts perfectly with FIM and VA features."
"We're using it more for reporting, that's all; we're using it to help our customers to pass any kind of audits that they receive."
"The ROI is very good if you evaluate all the services which AlienVault can help you with: detection of Malware, bad activities, suspicious behavior, etc."

Cons

"Technology evolves every day, so it would be nice if it gets more secure. It can also have more integration with other platforms."
"It would be better if they could educate the customers more. Some sort of seminars and roadshows will help educate the customers and show what the product can do. The price could be better. It would also help if they had a team for deployment and support."
"The main issue I could point out is the offline agents and the way that it is missing."
"I would like to see them include NDR (Network Detection Response). Then it would work well with SIEM Response."
"Currently, we are monitoring all USB drives and ports but we would like to improve our device control capabilities."
"We had a problem with getting our older endpoints up to date, but their newest updates have been really good."
"If Palo Alto reduces the pricing slightly for their products, it would make them more scalable in markets such as India and globally for cybersecurity."
"A little bit more automation would be nice."
"ConnectWise SIEM is primarily focused on notifications and is limited in that aspect, while Wazuh can automate the elimination process."
"The manage portion of the solution is complicated and should be simplified by having different versions to meet the needs of different size companies."
"The manage portion of the solution is complicated and should be simplified by having different versions to meet the needs of different size companies."
"ConnectWise Fortify could work on covering more areas, like phishing messages, which have become more complicated to detect."
"There is room for improvement in Log parsing."
"Some customizations with the integration between AlienVault components have room for improvement and enabling users with WebUI interfaces instead of having to edit configuration files on the system to achieve certain actions would be a good improvement."
"One of the problems we had with stability was a problem of our own."
"Backup, restore, and upgrade - some menu options are a bit convoluted."
"The reporting tools are a bit lacking for building reports to give directly to customers, but support has been helpful in giving our requests for new features to the development team and following up with us."
"I think plugin management should be self-service on AlienVault USM. The other product is self-service but on the USM side. You have to submit a ticket then AT&T creates and updates the plugins."
"The only room for improvement I can mention is the initial installation procedures. I found that the online installation instructions for the product were missing important details, they lacked necessary steps."
"It would be nice to see some machine learning and monitoring of the configuration in network devices."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is "expensive" and flexible."
"It is present, but when compared to other competitive products, I would say it is not less expensive; however, when all of the other added values are considered, the price is reasonable."
"We didn't have to pay any additional fee for the cloud instance. It just came with the renewal, which was nice."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is an expensive solution."
"Cortex XDR’s pricing is very reasonable."
"Cortex XDR's pricing is ok."
"Compared to CrowdStrike, Cortex XDR is an expensive solution."
"Traps pays for itself within the first 16 months of a three-year subscription. This is attributed to OPEX savings, as security teams spent less time trying to identify and isolate malware for analysis as a result of a reduction in malware incidents, false positives, and breach avoidance."
"The solution is expensive."
"Use the AlienVault team. They are helpful and the documentation that they provide is second to none."
"It's affordable for most customers."
"The licensing fees are dependent on usage."
"I don't know exactly, but I know it is based on the number of logs and the retention duration, such as 30 days or something like that. So, the smallest package is about 500 a month for 30 days of logs. There is a virtual machine. You need resources for it. It is a log collecting VM. They provide the software, and you just have to load a virtual machine. So, you're going to incur some CPU RAM and storage for wherever this log collecting appliance is running, which typically is in our cloud and on our platform for the customer."
"They charge a license based on the storage. ATT AlienVault USM is a less expensive solution than IBM QRadar."
"We checked out several competitors. For what it can do and the cost, it was the best option!"
"I rate the price of AT&T AlienVault USM a four out of five."
"We ran a few PoCs. The price and feature set were the best with AlienVault."
