It provides us with more in-depth visibility into ongoing attacks.
I rate Contrast Security Protect eight out of 10. Overall, it's a solid product, but I deduct a couple of points because of the interface and some shortcomings in the reporting. If you have a large enterprise where you're dealing with a lot of servers, then it makes sense not to use the internal MySQL database. You should use something like Oracle or Microsoft SQL, but if you don't have many transactions, the embedded MySQL database works great.

CI/CD workflows have become streamlined and AI support has improved collaborative development
We are using GitHub because it is open-source software, which is the most valuable solution for us. The open source and community support are very good. We are always up-to-date with the community, and integration difficulty is very low. If you integrate any CI/CD solutions on GitHub, it's very easy. We started using GitHub about three months ago with AI integration. For our deployments, some developers can be very shy about asking for descriptions on their commits. We are using AI support for comments and deployment management, which is beautiful. We are not using the GitHub API for automating workflows in our projects. I give GitHub a five-star rating for the review capabilities. I also give GitHub five stars for integration with third-party applications. There is a lot of integration available on GitHub. If you want to integrate something, even if it could be integrated before GitHub, you can make your code and integrate your own in-house applications. It's a very easy and powerful aspect of GitHub.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Protect provides us with more in-depth visibility into ongoing attacks."
"The solution has excellent real-time capabilities."
"The product gives a few false positives. We get 99 percent true positives."
"During our use of GitHub, we have not encountered any problems and GitHub adds new features frequently."
"It is really simple to set up."
"I did not have any issues with the stability of Github. It worked seamlessly."
"The tool is valuable because it helps us work in a distributed environment with multiple people across different locations and time zones. We have a common repository that everyone works on, which would be tough to manage manually. GitHub helps us maintain this single source of truth. Everyone can check out their own branches, which is important for our branching strategies. We can fork, check out feature branches, work on our code, and merge back into parent branches for deployment. This is crucial when multiple people are working on the same codebase."
"It provides Draft Pull Requests for review purposes without needing immediate merging and GitHub Actions for CI/CD implementation."
"GitHub is the best tool for source repositories."
"The product has a very user-friendly interface and user-friendly security."
"I appreciate saving from Visual Studio Code that implements changes directly on GitHub."

Cons

"There's room for improvement in the initial setup."
"Protect's reporting GUI is very basic. To get all statuses from the APIs, we needed to write our own KPI dashboard to provide reports."
"Contrast Security Protect needs to improve integration."
"The solution needs some more controls for deleting code."
"It would be better if the amount of storage were increased."
"From the recruiting standpoint, I would like to see email IDs and phone numbers and a brief introduction about their profile."
"The security for this solution could be tightened up and improved."
"The solution could have better support for the Markdown language."
"Specifically, I want the solution to offer AI-based merging support, as it is the only area where the product has certain shortcomings."
"I cannot recall coming across any shortcomings of the product."
"GitHub should work on enhancing its search capability. The tool should add some more features and functionalities."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The tool offers a free program. As you go, you can upgrade from the community version to the professional one. I believe it costs about ten dollars per person, per month."
"It is open-source. There is no license for GitHub."
"The price of this solution is reasonable."
"The licensing model from GitHub is very clear."
"If I consider the market standards, the product's price is pocket-friendly."
"The basic licensing model is free, and if you need to have technical support and such things, then it does cost something. You only need to pay extra if you need technical support."
"I haven't had to pay anything for GitHub, I use the free version."
"The licensing model for GitHub is user-based. Whenever the new developer joins we have to get a new license and register their ID. The overall price of the solution is reasonable."
