Facilitates integration of test scenarios while needing modernization of components
CucumberStudio is primarily used for designing test scenarios and automating testing. We have implemented it in conjunction with our own routines for integration into our infrastructure CucumberStudio aligns with our strategy for data-driven testing. It supports our product owners in designing…

Manages multiple releases seamlessly
We have done some work with companies, probably four or five years ago and found the ability to manage multiple releases simultaneously as a main advantage, especially in complex programs with multiple concurrent releases. Running automated tests against back-level versions in certain environments is possible, and newer versions can be tested as well. It creates constant visibility into the test process, showing the status, bugs, and automated test results. It is a solid product in large corporations in Denmark, ensuring everyone knows where the process stands. There is a good understanding of what is critical, allowing prioritization of test cases.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the re-usability of action words."
"Scenarios, since is a really easy way to create and control your test cases."
"CucumberStudio has a very user-friendly interface."
"The best thing is that a person without knowledge about the program can easily understand what happened in our testing process."
"The solution is stable."
"Integration with automation frameworks, keywords, and tags allows for saving time writing test cases and implementing automation."
"The data table that helps in converting a single script to multiple test cases is very helpful."
"Hiptest allowed us to clean up our test campaigns and standardize the way we write test cases and structure our BDD approach."
"Prior to using Quality Center, my organization used spreadsheets and emails to track testing efforts, therefore, QC helped my team become more efficient by tracking all testing activities with the tool."
"It provides us with common development and test workflow for defect management."
"Valuable for us is having all the data in one place."
"It gives me the ease of putting together the requirements, test cases, the release test schedules, and executing the test."
"We can create a requirement for stability metrics with the test cases to ensure all requirements are covered."
"Using Quality Center as one tool helped us to track just one tool from beginning to end."
"The report feature has helped me to generate a quality index report which is a critical report for management decisions."
"The company needed an option to integrate all our open source tools like JIRA, Jenkins, LFT, UFT, etc., and Quality Center does this."

Cons

"Support with In-App chat is great. However, it would be awesome to have real time support also for PT timezone."
"A key area for improvement is to revamp outdated components such as HipTest publisher."
"Copy-pasting something directly from JIRA requires too much modification and formatting."
"The reporting aspect can be improved."
"It needs some improvement when exporting scenarios into automation code, to make it easier to manage the repeatable action words and tests."
"Yes, it is not stable when you create a data table that includes more than 30 elements, so it can lose your data."
"The reporting and metrics can be improved. E.g.: If we wanted to have metrics across all projects."
"I think it would be better if we could also do the reporting with CucumberStudio."
"ALM bridges our development gap, but it's not quite full-scale yet."
"It could be better by incorporating more spell checking and word processing functionalities in steps."
"Graphs can be further improved to manage more requirements at a time."
"We had problems with Solution Manager/SAP integration and use through customizing RFC calls."
"License costs are still staggeringly high."
"Quality Center's ability to connect all the different projects to reflect status and progress is quite complicated. We may develop something because there are so many projects. Right now, I have to do something which Quality Center is really not designed for: over reporting. This is a very big problem right now. We may develop some controls, but it is problem at the moment. I love Quality Center for individual projects to work with it. However, if you have a lot of projects for Quality Manager to do cross reporting on many projects, then it's almost impossible. It takes a lot of time."
"Browser support needs improvement. Currently, it can only run on IE, Internet Explorer; it doesn't work on Firefox, doesn't work on Chrome, doesn't work on a Mac."
"Customer Service: Fair. It takes at least 2 days for support people to respond to ticket."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Only major companies that can afford it use OpenText ALM."
"I don't know the exact numbers, but I know it is pricey. When we talked to the sales reps we work with from our company, they say, "Well, Micro Focus will never lose on price." So, they are willing to do a lot of negotiating if it is required."
"It allows us to keep our costs low. I do not want to pay beyond a certain point for this solution."
"It all comes down to how many people are going to access the tool. When teams go above 20, I think ALM is a better tool to use from a collaboration and streamlining perspective."
"For pricing, I recommend to buy a bundled package. Check the HPE site for more details."
"The solution has the ability to handle a large number of projects and users in an enterprise environment with the correct license."
"The enterprise pricing and licensing are reasonable."
"We pay around $30,000 for thirty users, translating to approximately $6,000 to $10,000 per user, which is high."
