Structured workflows have improved SLA compliance and now support prioritized incident handling
I think the licensing and pricing of ServiceNow is quite expensive compared to other tools. For large organizations, it is acceptable, but specifically for small and medium organizations to track incidents or change requests, ServiceNow is quite expensive. Sometimes performance can be slow when workflows and integrations are configured for complex tasks. For advanced customizations or advanced features which we rarely use, the documentation is not up to standard. The documentation needs to be improved for advanced customization features. However, the platform is stable overall and the features are quite good. The user experience and performance concerns I mentioned are areas I want to be improved. When many workflows and interactions are configured, performance is slow. For the features it is providing, it is quite expensive. If these performance features are improved, we can easily pay that price and get the return on investment.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the re-usability of action words."
"Scenarios, since is a really easy way to create and control your test cases."
"The best thing is that a person without knowledge about the program can easily understand what happened in our testing process."
"The solution is stable."
"CucumberStudio aligns with our strategy for data-driven testing."
"Hiptest allowed us to clean up our test campaigns and standardize the way we write test cases and structure our BDD approach."
"The URL is very useful, and it has a very good UI for deploying information of the scenarios created."
"The power of Hiptest is its test cases and campaign management."
"From a service perspective, I think that being able to customize it is great."
"I think realistically, it helped us better our processes."
"It enables us to meet SLAs, track issues across the environment, and report those issues."
"Compared to HPE Service Manager, ServiceNow offers a lot more customizations and a lot more plug-ins that you can throw in there."
"Last year, there were three steps for installing or uninstalling software when a user asked us to do so, but by using ServiceNow, when a user opens a ticket or incident, we can automatically run the workflows through the system, and the assistant can automatically go to the user's computer and install or uninstall the software."
"If you're really wanting to understand the time and the effort and the amount of work that flows through your organization, utilizing ServiceNow can help you really build that infrastructure out by tracking incidents and then taking incidents to problems and making sure you have a changed infrastructure, really understand how much downtime you could have with an environment."
"For the nuts and bolts running of an IT organization, I can't really say there's anything lacking, feature-wise."
"It's a pretty complete platform that you can basically create whatever you want."

Cons

"The reporting and metrics can be improved. E.g.: If we wanted to have metrics across all projects."
"The reporting aspect can be improved."
"I would like to see better customer support."
"More tutorials and examples."
"Another kind of deployment might be useful, perhaps an option to install the tool in a local deployment."
"Yes, it is not stable when you create a data table that includes more than 30 elements, so it can lose your data."
"Support with In-App chat is great. However, it would be awesome to have real time support also for PT timezone."
"It needs some improvement when exporting scenarios into automation code, to make it easier to manage the repeatable action words and tests."
"ServiceNow is such a complex piece of software. It's trying to be everything."
"The interface is not user-friendly."
"I feel like there should be perhaps more unit testing before patches are rolled out because every patch has broken our entire catalog."
"What's not so good for us is also the support for problems and regressions."
"if I consider from the IT operations management side, ServiceNow is pretty premature on some things, especially the discovery, while the other tools like Micro Focus and BMC Remedy, those that have been in the market for quite some time. ServiceNow is evolving itself in the discovery piece of the future."
"There were performance issues, minor ones, with one customer."
"The installation and deployment of ServiceNow can be a bit challenging. One major issue I've encountered is that ServiceNow doesn't provide the same mobile responsiveness or features that we used to enjoy with other tools. For example, with Splunk, our response times were about five minutes, and we could manage alerts and incidents directly from our mobile devices."
"I would say database or data visibility. In fact, I think for me, I'm going for the physical side, most of the people like to access data without any constraints."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The solution is priced for medium to enterprises sized businesses. However, it is expensive compared to competitors."
"ServiceNow is a leader and its pricing is quite good, quite competitive... Sometimes some plugins are not priced reasonably but, generally, the platform itself, its modules, are priced reasonably."
"The licenses are expensive."
"I would say it is moderately expensive, ranging from six to seven on a scale of ten."
"The license model is based on a number of fulfillers (active users who play some role within the ServiceNow functionality). Therefore, you can serve as many end-users as you want, without additional costs."
"The price of this solution is expensive."
"The setup cost is high compared to others, especially when the scope is not fixed."
"This is a pretty expensive product, so the licensing could be better."
