Proactive monitoring has improved availability and capacity reporting for my infrastructure
The current features including availability, performance, and capacity are good enough, and I think more of better alerting along with improved thresholds of alerts should be implemented. It is helpful, but it should also include the capability to detect zero-day attacks if there are any. I think the remediation could have been better. For example, if I am upgrading my firmware or BIOS or firmware of the infrastructure, it should give me exact CVSS scores and remediation data provided against the CVSS scores. I think the Dell CloudIQ app could be more interactive. If there is a possibility that I can open tickets or SRs via the Dell CloudIQ app, that would be a good feature.

Helps us detect cyber threats quickly and integrate multiple feeds effectively
Overall, the product is good, but when it comes to some infrastructure issues, we have to dig into more logs. There is no straightforward indication of an issue. Health check kind of dashboards are not available. More AI would help us, and more optimization, since security products run more queries. The AI module could suggest solutions, optimizing queries or workload balancing. If the product itself advises on running queries during peak times, it would be similar to what ChatGPT currently offers. We see quite a few issues on stability. Even last week, we faced something, and identifying bottlenecks is not easy. We need more SMEs, and there is no mechanism to tell us about indexer or search head issues. Self-monitoring dashboards could be beneficial. The technical support still requires more improvement. Often, primary support takes a lot of time and forwards most solutions to the engineering side. The primary support team has very limited knowledge to provide.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best thing about this solution is that you can check for the infrastructure and system updates that you might need to be compliant with the Cloud."
"Some of the most valuable features of CloudIQ include its health status alerts, which allow you to see quickly if there is something that needs immediate attention, preventing the need to check each system individually."
"I use Dell CloudIQ for the availability and capacity reporting, which is very helpful in terms of capacity and availability reporting, and if there is any fault or faulty drive or faulty part, I am alerted on time with that, which is the main benefit that avoids any unplanned outage."
"The tool for forecasting capacity is valuable."
"Has really nice roll-up dashboards."
"Fewer vulnerabilities have been observed in the four years we have used the solution."
"Mobile application is the most valuable feature for us. We can monitor all the storages on our phones. It's really good."
"I rate CloudIQ a ten out of ten."
"The features of Splunk Enterprise Security that I find most valuable are the correlation and correlation data."
"It gives us good visibility into multiple environments, including cloud, on-premises, and hybrid; irrespective of platform."
"We can quickly search for almost anything across many log sources in seconds."
"The most valuable feature is the DSS, also known as SPL, because it allows users to script advanced queries with limited knowledge."
"What I appreciate about Splunk Enterprise Security is creating the newest SPL for network traffic and using the risk-based alerting feature that helps my organization by allowing me to learn more information about Splunk every day because it is a big platform."
"Splunk's schema on demand is incredibly useful. I do not have to worry about what my users will need when we onboard their data."
"Splunk is stable, and this is why many customers want it."
"There are lots of free learning materials on their website."

Cons

"I think the remediation could have been better."
"The reporting capabilities of this solution could be improved."
"Getting through support has become a difficult thing. Dell's support has degraded since they took over EMC. It's a bit difficult to use."
"The main limitation of CloudIQ is that it is intended to be used exclusively with Dell hardware."
"It can improve the reporting facility to create custom reports or dashboards."
"If you have a heterogeneous environment, there might be some limitations in coverage since CloudIQ is primarily designed for Dell-based infrastructures."
"The process of upgrading could be streamlined."
"PowerScale is the only file system offered and that is limiting."
"Their technical support sucks."
"Splunk Enterprise Security documentation exists, but compared to Palo Alto, Palo Alto has more knowledge base articles."
"It needs more thoroughly tested releases. Every new big version (6, 7, etc.) has had so many bugs that it makes me wary of customers upgrading right away."
"Its pricing is extremely high. There are other tools out in the market that are competitive. They do not necessarily have all the functionality, but they are competitive. The professional services we have used have been high as well in comparison to the market."
"For us, the area that Splunk Enterprise Security can improve is performance optimization."
"For instance, if a DLP operations analyst accesses the platform, it should guide them to navigate predefined content for their role. That's something I've already mentioned to them, and I'm eager to see what happens next."
"Data retention can be better. If we want to look at the data for five months or six months, that is not available to us."
"You can run a script from an event, but it needs many clicks to run that integration, which could be made easier."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is more expensive than NetApp which offers file systems in various price ranges."
"I believe it is a free product because we don't pay for it."
"Splunk is not free."
"The Splunk Enterprise Security license is expensive."
"Splunk can be an expensive solution. It all depends on how we configure the alerts and the events from the endpoints. You can save some money if you do that correctly. If not, it becomes an expensive solution."
"Pricing is pretty fair."
"Splunk's cost is very high. They need to review the pricing. They have to go back and totally readdress the market."
"It's definitely worth it."
"Our customers often complain that the price of Splunk is too high."
"Splunk Enterprise Security is a worthwhile investment given the comprehensive range of features it offers."
