Supports flexible hosting needs through seamless upgradability and strong monitoring capabilities
The most valuable features of Dell PowerEdge R-Series for me are the feature richness and the upgradability. I really love the way that it is so dynamically applicable for every situation, and they manage to have an all-in-one solution for every single situation. Dell PowerEdge has supported the growth and operational success of my company through its great compute power and price-to-performance ratio. Every time Dell is at the top of its game for us, and there is just no other brand for us that is able to reach that kind of price-to-performance ratio. Dell PowerEdge R-Series has features that specifically cater to the needs of my small company, such as iDRAC. The iDRAC system is a complete feature set for managing servers and hardware technically and monitoring-wise. It really fits in our system and our ecosystem, and monitoring-wise, it is excellent. They have all these sensors available via different protocols and end points, which I love, and the ability to manage and control everything via the iDRAC interface is just a welcome bonus. In our use case, Dell PowerEdge R-Series is very flexible. It is another computer which helps a lot because of the durability over time. They keep running, making scalability for getting more of those resources in our environment so easy.

Pros

"The solution is very strong and reliable."
"Dell PowerEdge R-Series has good backup, supports a lot of good Intel chips that we use for our applications, and provides a good balance for memory requirements."
"I would describe my experience with Dell's support for PowerEdge solutions as great, as we had to get a motherboard replaced, and the replacement part arrived the next business day, which was impressive."
"Dell PowerEdge R-Series is delivered as a platform for clients in the AI domain, allowing them to build on top of the infrastructure and utilize the compute capacity provided."
"We actually have not had any failures in the last 7 years regarding availability."
"Dell's customer support is very good, especially since we have premium support for next-day hardware service."
"I appreciate Dell solutions because they are reliable, and we know what we are getting."
"It operates without any downtime. It runs 24 hours and 365 days. The downtime is there for an hour or two only when I do an upgrade, but it is within the SLA."
"It is a very practical solution because you have all the servers in a minimal space."

"We installed Fujitsu Primergy BX400 Series for a high PC solution, and for this reason, some Microsoft licenses and other special licenses were embedded or bundled to the Fujitsu solution."
"Fujitsu Primergy BX400 Series has two processors."

Cons

"It is hard to make a comparison without any technical factsheets for the other servers to compare with but like everyone else, it is about the pricing."
"Dell PowerEdge R-Series could be improved by expanding the slots and local disks. This is the main area for improvement because I have many environments where I need local space, and the slots limit how much I can accomplish."
"We are expecting that the price of Dell PowerEdge R-Series is quite higher than others."
"I would say the pain points are better power usage and consumption; that's not up to Dell, that's up to the CPU manufacturers."
"Unfortunately, PowerEdge Rack Servers do not support NVMe storage."
"Currently, even when using SSDs or SaaS disk models in my Dell PowerEdge R-Series servers, the throughput is roughly 10%-15% lower compared to similar offerings from HPE and Lenovo."
"The flexibility of card use could be improved."
"The maintenance for this solution could be improved."
"It can have more automation. In addition, Fujitsu should have a broader portfolio, not specifically in terms of the service solutions, but more in terms of the big picture. A broader portfolio would be nice for providing different solutions for the customers."
"The initial setup of Fujitsu Primergy BX400 Series was complex."
"It is much better to use “normal” servers. The initial investment for a blade server is very high and creates dependency."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of this solution is reasonable. It's very comparable to similar solutions."
"We have not compared them with others. The price is okay, but they can always be a little bit cheaper."
"The product's pricing is not good."
"We weren't paying very much, but it was at the end of the lifecycle. We are now using the VxRail hyper-converged infrastructure, and the pricing was very similar for the same amount of power but with easier automation."
"I have no issues with the pricing and licensing costs. They are fine."
"Compared to other vendors, the prices are much lower."
"The licensing comes with a warranty."
"I know the pricing for Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers went up last year, and we weren't too happy about that, but it is what it is."
"No license is required to operate the product."
"There are special licenses that are connected to the usage. We installed Fujitsu Primergy BX400 Series for a high PC solution, and for this reason, some Microsoft licenses and other special licenses were embedded or bundled to the Fujitsu solution."
