Supports flexible hosting needs through seamless upgradability and strong monitoring capabilities
The most valuable features of Dell PowerEdge R-Series for me are the feature richness and the upgradability. I really love the way that it is so dynamically applicable for every situation, and they manage to have an all-in-one solution for every single situation. Dell PowerEdge has supported the growth and operational success of my company through its great compute power and price-to-performance ratio. Every time Dell is at the top of its game for us, and there is just no other brand for us that is able to reach that kind of price-to-performance ratio. Dell PowerEdge R-Series has features that specifically cater to the needs of my small company, such as iDRAC. The iDRAC system is a complete feature set for managing servers and hardware technically and monitoring-wise. It really fits in our system and our ecosystem, and monitoring-wise, it is excellent. They have all these sensors available via different protocols and end points, which I love, and the ability to manage and control everything via the iDRAC interface is just a welcome bonus. In our use case, Dell PowerEdge R-Series is very flexible. It is another computer which helps a lot because of the durability over time. They keep running, making scalability for getting more of those resources in our environment so easy.

With good integration and expansion capabilities, the tool also offers good technical support
It is a solution that we could expand in our company. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten. Our company has 400 users, all of whom have used it at one point or the other. All of the departments are involved in the usage of the tool.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The Dell platform works very well, we are very happy with it, and if price isn't a concern, I would recommend Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers."
"Using Dell PowerEdge R-Series servers has helped reduce my total cost of ownership by eliminating downtime and being able to support the evolving needs of the business."
"It is quite flexible when you use it."
"Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers helped reduce unplanned production downtime significantly."
"I believe Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers can grow with our business."
"I have not experienced any performance issues with the Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers."
"The most valuable features are that they are very reliable, and Dell's technical service is also optimal."
"Customers share with us their experiences, highlighting reliability, ease of use, maintenance, and lifecycle management. They frequently mention that this equipment doesn't break, stating it works and functions reliably."
"After we migrated to this environment, everything changed."
"Over the last four years we had a 99.9% uptime."
"I recommend this solution, I think it's easier to implement Converged than other solutions."
"One of the valuable components in this solution is HPE Synergy, which is a useful tool for deployments and updates."
"One of the biggest things is, the fact that it can be a turn-key solution."
"The best value was in the service because we receive the solution as a managed service from HPE, so it's a box somewhere in the data center that we don't care about, it's always running and so far, no problems."
"The best feature of this solution is the backup system."
"We find the deduplication and compression features to be most valuable, as well as that of the backup solution inside."

Cons

"PowerEdge could have more configuration options, such as the ability to combine different CPUs, memory volumes, data storage, and memory. The new Intel-based ones are a bit power-hungry."
"When we talk about Dell, the service support is prompt, but they take much longer to resolve particular issues."
"Dell PowerEdge R-Series can be improved on the cost if they can lower the price, and of course, more security."
"We have not had a good experience with support. Technical support staff take too much time to resolve tickets."
"Pricing might be an area for improvement. There is competition, and lowering prices could be beneficial."
"The choice of CPUs, RAM configuration, and modifications is very large, partly even a bit too large, because I sometimes get lost in the configuration options, but nothing negative really stands out to me at this point."
"It is not good in terms of its energy consumption for a large-scale deployment. I probably would go for something more dense, like blades or any type of small scale hardware service solutions, to lower the heat and power consumption. However, for small environments, this solution is okay and easy to maintain."
"On the client side, the feedback about Dell PowerEdge is that it is always too expensive."
"Technical support hasn't seemed to be that simple or that easy."
"The interface is not fully integrated with the ESXi, which is something that could be improved."
"This is an expensive solution."
"HPE ConvergedSystem needs to improve its management. I would like the tool to add cloud management features so that the system can be accessed anywhere from the cloud."
"My biggest pet peeve with the HC250 are the descriptions that they put on our parts list."
"HPE ConvergedSystem needs to improve its price."
"With ConvergedSystem, we'd like to see just how portable and scalable HP can make it. Is it really just an add-on each time and not a complete redesign?"
"Something that we think should be better in the HANA converged solutions is all of the monitoring of the solutions."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I don't know about the product's licensing part. Price-wise, it is an okay product. I believe that the cheaper the better, but I think that the product's price is okay."
"They are fairly priced."
"The price is reasonable. You have to pay if you want quality. When we purchase something, we have to do some market analysis, and I haven't seen a significant difference compared to other solutions."
"The solution is expensive."
"The pricing and licensing are fair."
"You can't have computed performance without using more power. That said, when I consider the power consumption and performance of the MX740c, depending on how much memory you install on each blade, you get the best bang for your buck."
"The pricing is good compared to other products."
"It is very competitive. I have not been too involved in the licensing, but from a hardware perspective, I always find them to be competitive."
"This is an expensive solution."
"There are some extra costs in addition to the licensing costs for the yearly maintenance from professional third-party services."
"I rate the product price an eight and a half on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
"Pricing is good. We have not calculated what hyper-converged infrastructure has brought us but I think there has to be some lower cost for us, compared to the public cloud. Obviously, there would be a lower cost, probably by more than half."
"This is an expensive system and not every customer has the kind of budget to support it."
"The pricing is competitive. Not a major problem. We have a subscription model."
"The pricing is sensitive."
"My company has a five year contract for HPE ConvergedSystem. The contracts depend on companies and sometimes it can be three years. The solution is worth its price."
