Continuous data protection guarantees data safety during outages and disasters
Based on my experience, I do recommend Dell RecoverPoint to other businesses. The environment requiring Dell RecoverPoint, such as banks or telcos where data equals money, cannot afford to lose data. The overall solution rating is eight, considering the competition from one or two more OEMs giving a tough time to Dell RecoverPoint.

Beneficial continual replication, helpful support, and high replication performance
The most valuable features of EDB Postgres Replication Server are the many in-built functionalities, such as streaming. When compared to others solutions it is highly secure and does not have any breakage in replication. The replication is very fast. Additionally, in other solutions, the databases need to have a lot of manual intervention but with EDB Postgres Replication Server it is not needed.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We use RecoverPoint for disaster recovery and asynchronous replication, and we use the application at a block level, not the software level, and this has been tested and is very durable."
"It is amazing because it is very easy to test with many alternative bookmarks."
"With RecoverPoint, we can instantly mount an image Point in Time in case of a problem, and the Recovery Time Objective was improved for sure."
"In terms of operational and financial benefits, in case of any disaster, it can recover."
"The solution provides continuous data protection."
"The image backup feature is great. For example, if you set the journal to take a backup every ten minutes, it will create a snapshot or pointer every ten minutes for as long as you need."
"Product is self-payable, and due to the data protection provided to the IT environment, we can reach very secure operational levels."
"I would rate the overall solution a 9.9 out of 10."

Cons

"In the future, I would like Dell RecoverPoint to evolve as an orchestration tool that can integrate with other replication tools such as Microsoft native replication and Oracle Data Guard."
"The interfaces could be improved for better ease of use. There's also room for improvement in direct compatibility with other solutions."
"Dell RecoverPoint is considered an older technology and is not recommended for new deployments by Dell EMC. It requires double the storage capacity for source and target storage areas, which creates a heavy burden on storage resources."
"Dell RecoverPoint is affordable for enterprises but not for mid-size organizations due to the required network investment for bandwidth across sites."
"Currently the product does not support cascaded replication, only "Y" replication."
"The solution normally supports only specific types and amounts of storage. If it could be increased to support much larger amounts or a wider range, it could fetch a bigger market."
"Dell RecoverPoint can be improved by virtualizing it, which would use less storage and enhance performance."
"I am waiting for block replication with VirtualBox."
"We tried to set up a reverse master-master set up, but currently, it is not available. it can be done only via logical replication using a paid version of BDR or some other technology. They allow like master-master. MySQL has already supported master-master and streaming."
"We tried to set up a reverse master-master set up, but currently, it is not available."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"While I recommend Dell EMC, it depends on your specific use case. Licensing is perpetual, meaning you buy it once."
"The price is moderate."
"The product is fairly priced."
"It is considered quite costly."
"RecoverPoint came free as an add-on to the PowerProtect Data Manager backup software from Dell EMC."
"Support is an additional subscription."
"We have used the paid version of the EDB Postgres Replication Server and the license payments were annual."
