An excellent application with a strong use case
It is very intuitive and has improved significantly over the last seven years. Its deployment is very enterprise-focused, and I hope it will eventually become cloud-based for easier connection through AWS or similar services. Identity workflows have delivered strong governance but remain complex to install and customize
I would describe the installation of Oracle Identity Governance on-premises as quite complex. Very complex. To install the product, it took us maybe three or four days to get it up and running just to go through the installation procedures. I repeated the same exercise in 2017 because I also migrated from 11c to 12c. That was the migration in 2017 that I managed. The migration took a long time. It took two to three years to be able to literally migrate all the code that I had. So it was quite complex. To summarize it quickly, I would describe the product as complete, very powerful, and very capable. However, it is extremely complex because Oracle relies on their own framework to customize and develop and fine-tune the functionalities. It is not Java, it is not some public framework. It is Java-based more or less, but it has their own Oracle framework for development and that makes the product quite complex to harness.

Pros

"It allows for self-service which means quicker turnaround for end-user support."
"It is very intuitive and has improved significantly over the last seven years. Its deployment is very enterprise-focused, and I hope it will eventually become cloud-based for easier connection through AWS or similar services. Currently, it's an excellent application with a strong use case."
"Good features are the RBAC and UI customization."
"The most valuable features in Oracle Identity Governance is having a scalable identity and access management solution."
"The most valuable feature of Oracle Identity Governance is user lifecycle management. Certification is also a valuable feature of the solution. Oracle Identity Governance allows you to assign who has access to what, which is its basic feature."
"Oracle Identity Management enables organizations to manage the entire life cycle of user identities across all resources in the organization while automating user provisioning and deprovisioning."
"The features I like in this solution are the RBAC and the UI customization, particularly that it has a granular level modification."
"OIM is the right product and it is a good fit for enterprise deployments."
"Understanding what a customer is using, what they are looking for, and allowing permissions is a challenge. We use the information we get in order to understand the behavior of the customer beyond the security and to understand what they have been doing in the last month. It's a nice way to understand what is attracting the customer and what they are clicking. That could be implemented by using this kind of application."
"Scalability-wise, I rate this solution a nine out of ten. Oracle Identity Governance is a scalable solution, without a doubt."

Cons

"I would like to see EmpowerID move to the cloud to facilitate easier deployment and connectivity through AWS or similar services."
"Perhaps it is the way my organization has it set up but I would like to add people to more than one group at a time."
"The most important point is that Oracle hasn't adjusted itself to the current market, they are still doing the same thing they've done for the last 10 years."
"The solution should be easy to implement with components combined in one file and built-in features to integrate target applications without having to install additional connectors."
"There are issues with stability in the long run."
"Most areas need improvements, all the way from the GUI to core functionality, logging, traceability, configuration, and bugs causing crashes."
"Sometimes, it does not meet our expectations in terms of stability."
"The development and the administration side could be a lot more intuitive and easier to use than it currently is, in terms of functionality and what it tries to achieve as a Single Sign-On entity for an enterprise environment."
"Sometimes the support is not able to resolve our issues and they're often changing support engineers."
"It would be beneficial if there were more connectors available from Oracle, as there is a long list of connectors, and they can be developed over time."
