OpEx storage model has simplified SLAs, capacity planning, and cyber‑resilient recovery
The most valuable features in Pure Storage Evergreen One are the SLAs, which are tied to the kind of services that we are going to run. These SLAs govern the consumption and the reporting as well. I find it more attractive when we are tied to a specific SLA, and the VRA is providing the services within that agreed SLA, then there is no requirement for a complete capacity assessment. The entire capacity review, assessment, and recommendations come as part of Pure Storage Evergreen One solution. Pure Storage Evergreen One has a list of services which will provide the services, including cyber resilience. First, they have complete capacity management which is done by them and which will also provide us a heads up on how we are consuming the services and where these services can be improved. Second, it will also provide us some of the key attributes, such as we can take the snapshots and LUN snapshots, which will provide a cyber-resilient copy where data can be secured in case of a cyber attack. We have an option to basically recover the earliest. Third, because of this feature and because of Pure Storage Evergreen One, I am talking about the Evergreen aspect. Because of Evergreen, we also have an option to upgrade the controllers based on the SLAs. If the agreed SLAs are not meeting the requirement, we have a provision to upgrade the controllers and so on. This is giving a good feature for us to evaluate and provide a valuable proposition to the customer who wants to use Pure Storage as a Pure OpEx model.

Modern deployment practices have reduced downtime and support efficient multi-app management
Kubernetes Everywhere offers features including auto-scaling, which is the best feature, as well as load balancing, ingress controllers, and the ability to host multiple applications on a single Kubernetes Everywhere cluster through segregation using namespaces. The commands are straightforward to execute, and it allows the integration and management of Docker containers efficiently. Auto-scaling is one of the features I use in Kubernetes Everywhere that made a significant impact, helping us with user distribution as the pods scale automatically without disruption as users increase, contributing to high availability and low downtime. I am using Kubernetes Everywhere with the GitOps approach, using Git as a source of truth, which provides excellent security and has made a significant change in our current infrastructure. Kubernetes Everywhere has positively impacted my organization by significantly reducing downtime. We have achieved almost zero minutes of downtime since implementing Kubernetes Everywhere in our organization after transitioning from manual deployments. Regarding cost savings, we were using multiple EC2 instances for different projects, but now everything is under one cluster, running as a pod and segregated by namespaces, leading to cost savings. For team collaboration, we are using different tools with Git as a source of truth, making it easy for developers to manage instances and gain insights efficiently.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Pure Storage has the highest Net Promoter Score in the market."
"The Evergreen program is excellent, and the pricing is quite reasonable. My friends who work there are doing very well and consistently achieving strong results. Like any company, they experience occasional downturns but perform impressively overall."
"The speed of the product is quite a bit better in performance than the previous peer environment we were running on, and it seems to have a better feature set."
"The most valuable features in Pure Storage Evergreen One are the SLAs, which are tied to the kind of services that we are going to run, and these SLAs govern the consumption and the reporting as well."
"The speed of the product is quite a bit better in performance than the previous environment we were running on, and it seems to have a better feature set."
"We have snapshots. We put snapshots on disks, and we can save information. In the case of ransomware, everything is in the snapshot. We have a snapshot lock on it, so it's safe."
"Kubernetes Everywhere has impacted my organization positively because performance-wise, we don't have any downtimes, whereas earlier we used to have downtime."
"I have seen specific outcomes, with incidents having definitely reduced drastically from what it was a few years back; so certainly, I can see there is more than 25 to 50% reduction in the incidents since adopting Kubernetes Everywhere."
"Since we started using Kubernetes Everywhere, we brought all the applications in one place, which impacted the speed, security, and cost, and mainly the data, so the data stays in one place."
"Kubernetes Everywhere is a very good tool with most of the features taken from Kubernetes open-source, and it works really well, is highly scalable with very low latency."
"Kubernetes Everywhere positively impacts our organization by making it quite easy to deploy different microservices for different languages; we simply build the Docker container and pass it to the YAML, and if anything breaks, debugging is straightforward because we know exactly where the issue is coming from."
"Kubernetes Everywhere is a premier operational asset for modern multi-cloud architecture, delivering standard, predictable workload orchestration across any underlying hardware engine with minimal setup complexity."
"Kubernetes Everywhere has positively impacted my organization by significantly reducing downtime; we have achieved almost zero minutes of downtime since implementing Kubernetes Everywhere in our organization after transitioning from manual deployments."
"Kubernetes Everywhere has positively impacted my organization by providing lower costs, flexibility, and scalability."

Cons

"Many customers report that the starting price is quite high. However, the overall total cost of ownership can be reduced over time due to features like the Evergreen architecture, which allows savings through less management and environmental benefits."
"To me, I think it's a little expensive. Then again, you get what you pay for."
"I'm not sure if any improvements are needed."
"The only potential drawback is that Pure Storage might be overkill if you don't need microsecond response times."
"It would be nice to have support in Swedish."
"I would love to explore more options on what Pure Storage Evergreen One can offer in general, mostly from the cybersecurity perspective and air gap."
"Due to poor planning of the application developers and resource management, I have seen crashes, downtimes, and performance issues."
"Customer support for Kubernetes Everywhere could be better."
"Deploying Kubernetes Everywhere infrastructure is somewhat difficult because there are many components that need to be deployed."
"The ingress issue is the main concern for me because I continue to face ingress-related issues most of the time."
"Kubernetes Everywhere can be improved if it had more convenient commands, which would make it easier for me to remember all the commands in GCP for Kubernetes."
"Kubernetes Everywhere can be improved by providing an easier way for users to handle commands and developing a UI-based approach to make it easier for developers and semi-technical users, as well as focusing on improving containerization."
"It only loses a small amount of points because fine-tuning network policies across very strict, air-gapped, on-premise boundaries takes extra upfront coordination during the initial discovery week."
"I can think of an improvement for Kubernetes Everywhere in that it should be easier to use from a developer's perspective, as it involves a lot of infrastructure numbers and DevOps."
