Remote access has become seamless and secure while deployment remains simple for our users
Performance could be improved today. People are now moving toward SASE, which stands for Secure Access, Secure Edge Solution. Fortinet also has that offering, which would be easier since it operates through the cloud, acting as a first line of defense. When the user connects to the internet, they connect to the cloud first for posture assessment and monitoring before connecting to the outside world. The impact is significant because nowadays people are adopting SASE. During COVID time, many users were trying to connect back to their office, causing the performance or CPU utilization of the firewall to increase tremendously, which slowed down performance. I have not worked with endpoint telemetry in Fortinet FortiClient that could have been helpful for threat mitigation.

Helps reduce access-related support tickets, is quick to deploy, and streamlines onboarding
We were able to add Twingate into our infrastructure without having to change our infrastructure or how people work. We reaped the benefits of Twingate immediately because it replaced an alternative solution with a lot of overhead. Twingate helped reduce access-related support tickets by 80 percent. Twingate streamlines onboarding for our company, especially for the engineering team, by automating resource access through directory integrations. New employees generally require no manual configuration within Twingate, saving us significant time and effort. The resiliency is directly proportional to the level of control we exert over its components. We can manage Twingate connectors to support high availability, ensuring the system is as reliable as needed. This flexibility and control enhance Twingate's resiliency capabilities significantly.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"FortiClient's most valuable features are that it's fast and safe."
"The initial setup is easy."
"It’s easy to use."
"The performance of FortiClient is impressive."
"Compared to other similar solutions, it is faster in connecting."
"The solution has inexpensive scalability, works very well and can communicate with other Fortinet devices."
"The integration capabilities are good."
"We like its centralized administration, integration with Active Directory, deployment, and stability of the connection."
"I appreciate Twingate's developer-first approach, particularly its excellent developer tools for deployment and management."

Cons

"We do not use the solution every day and there are times when the new users have trouble reconnecting. The technology itself works but our users getting adopted to it is a major problem. Having the user adapt to the desktop landing page that it begins on is throwing them off a bit."
"One area that could be improved is cost, but you've got to pay for what you get."
"The price could also use improvement."
"Technical support needs to determine priority level based on the cases rather than the support package bundle."
"Technical support is awful. Their online response time is not prompt. They should not respond after four or five days. Their support guys are not competent enough. Small issues are taking time."
"The pricing is not cheaper compared to competitors. For price satisfaction, it rates at seven out of ten and could be improved."
"It would be nice to see more in hand features in terms of the DLP, so that the solution can be integrated with the DLP, as well as more reporting features on the end point."
"Fortinet frequently releases updates without thorough testing."
"Twingate's lack of native support for Windows Server is a significant limitation."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product's licensing is yearly and expensive."
"FortiClient is quite reasonably priced."
"I rate the product's pricing a seven out of ten."
"FortiClient is costly."
"The pricing is a six out of ten."
"Its pricing is good. One thing that has always attracted us to the Fortinet range of products is that their pricing is very competitive. Our particular licensing is on a yearly basis. However, as part of this project, we did pre-purchase three years of maintenance and support at a fairly significant discount."
"Fortinet FortiClient comes free with the purchase of the FortiGate solution. There is a license required for this solution. You later can upgrade from the free version which will allow more endpoints. The cost of the license subscription is based on how many endpoints you require."
"It is not that expensive. It was within the range. A dollar per user per month is nothing."
"Twingate's pricing is fair."
