Stable with a good interface and excellent technical support
The solution overall is good. All of the features are useful and working well for us. The technical support provided is excellent. The solution is very good at preventing intrusions. You can definitely rely on this solution to cover your security. The pricing of the solution is fair. The interface of the solution is quite stable.

Auditing has become tamper-proof and now secures sensitive financial transaction data
The most useful feature of Oracle Audit Vault is its ability to ensure that audits are immutable, as mandated by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs guidelines whenever an audit is happening for a single transaction, mainly for financial transactions. It separates the Oracle databases' information that is being audited and stores it in a separate location where no user has access, including the Oracle Audit Vault admin, ensuring that no one can change or modify that particular record, providing utmost security. User activity reports in Oracle Audit Vault are fantastic, informative, and specific. When a user makes any changes, both the pre-change values and the post-change values are captured and presented to the auditors perfectly, showing what the particular column had before and after the update, along with the user who made the change and the time of the change. Regarding automated policy enforcement in Oracle Audit Vault, I have experience with it, and I find it very important. Oracle Audit Vault fully supports compliance management for companies, with no doubt about its capability to maintain compliance from both audit and security threat perspectives. The correlation engine in Oracle Audit Vault is effective. It includes a data firewall as part of its features, so the threat mechanism allows users to block, snip, and capture all threats happening in the network.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is a very good solution, and every day the company is updating and developing its devices."
"The most valuable features of this solution are the security aspects."
"The solution is very good at preventing intrusions. You can definitely rely on this solution to cover your security."
"We use it to protect files and to prevent users from browsing them while they are being used."
"It is a good solution for database monitoring."
"Customer support for this solution is good."
"It's relatively inexpensive in comparison to everything else that has the same functionality."
"The biggest thing, for us lately, has been their cloud tools. They're like Intercept X from Sophos, where they'll test for ransomware. Fortinet has the same sort of set up with their cloud devices. So your firewall picks up something suspicious, it sends it up to the cloud for analysis. We also have their in-house antivirus. Having different antivirus checkpoints throughout the network is a good thing as well."
"It has provided us with a unique opportunity to automate risk discovery."
"This is a configuration-based product that offers you full control of the audit settings and the configurations and helps in generating all the required reports as per the compliance while even helping in customizing the reports as per your choice."
"All of the other components that make up the infrastructure in the environment including the operating system are also quite valuable."
"The most valuable feature of Oracle Audit Vault is that it is agentless and enhanced user interface."
"Before we implemented this product, our client had to query the database to create an audit report, but with this product, audit report generation is automated."
"The setup for Audit Vault is relatively simple."
"Some of the most basic reasons for choosing Oracle's AVDF product are: User friendly (easy to use because it is not complicated to use)."
"For clients the superior security, power, customizability and reasonable ease of use return in time savings and secure data."

Cons

"Some use case analyses could be improved."
"We had many issues with the performance and the appliance resource management."
"The pricing of this solution is a little bit on the high side and can be improved."
"I'm an old-school guy. I really don't like web GUI interfaces."
"I'm an old-school guy. I really don't like web GUI interfaces. They're always slow and laggy and their design is restricted, whereas a binary deployment for an admin tool is always faster, easier, more flexible. I would like that kind of functionality from Fortinet."
"They need to improve the web filter to make it more user-friendly."
"We had some issues trying to fix some critical bugs, such as the SSL encryption."
"I would like better APIs and integration with other products, like Python and SQL."
"This solution doesn't audit the network."
"This kind of solution should supply more analytical data for the traffic that comes in."
"Oracle does not have very good documentation on this. I think Oracle abandoned the product, especially on the support side."
"One feature that is missing is the ability to have a secret server that is always encrypted."
"I actually encountered stability issues in DPE mode, but it was with the first release."
"According to Oracle, the best practice is that Audit Vault Server and DB Firewall should be deployed on different boxes (servers). There is no option to co-locate them together."
"The price factor makes it out of reach for small players in the IT industry."
"It is an expensive solution. For those customers who do not have any ULA agreements with Oracle, the solution is practically impossible to acquire."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is not expensive."
"It's relatively inexpensive in comparison to everything else that has the same functionality. If you're looking at SonicWall or if you're looking at WatchGuard, their prices are about a third higher with relatively the same functionality."
"In the licensing model, the licenses are a little bit expensive."
"The cost needs to be reduced."
"It is not costly."
"For the bank, the license was $48,000 last time. That was the licensing for the bank on just one license."
"The licensing cost is about $360,000, annually."
"Oracle can be an expensive solution depending on the options and user needs."
"This solution is definitely not expensive, and it is a small fraction of the overall database licensing costs."
