A stable solution with an intuitive interface and quick customer service
I have been working with Fortinet FortiGate, WatchGuard, Sophos, and SonicWall. I'm not as comfortable with SonicWall because of their UI and limitations. I prefer Fortinet above all other options. When it comes to configuration, I am confident in my ability to handle various tasks, including creating policies such as firewall rules, web policies, and application policies. Additionally, I can configure VPNs and implement load balancing, among other tasks. Overall, I feel much more comfortable working with Fortinet. Fortinet has made significant improvements by integrating AI with firewalls for threat analysis and prevention. In the past 2-3 years, they have launched FortiSASE and SIEM, and they also provide SOC services. Both Palo Alto and Fortinet FortiGate are excellent. While Fortinet FortiGate comes at higher prices, the functionality and support justify the cost. They promptly resolve firmware issues and inform all support providers about configuration changes.

Integrates seamlessly and helps with real-time threat response
Since the solution we offered was a complete suite with Fortinet FortiGate-VM, it was easier for them to manage because they have FortiManager as well. The main reason they wanted to position FortiGate in the cloud was so that they could easily deploy through FortiManager. That was the selling point we had for them. Especially for their multiple branches, where they had approximately 60 sites, and some assets were in AWS, it was really a good deployment opportunity. FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer were also part of that solution.

Enhanced threat detection with integrated security features and good support
We are using application firewalling, WAF, and SD-WAN. The capabilities are mostly within the box. For example, you will get web application firewall WAF as part and parcel of this. SD-WAN is also bundled. It integrates with their SIEM and SOAR solutions very nicely. Lastly, the pricing point is very cost-efficient as well.

"You can create multiple Virtual Domains (VDOMs), which are treated as separate firewall instances."
"The features that I have found most valuable are that it is good to use, and most importantly, the pricing. The customer especially likes the discount when they trade up or something like that."
"Primarily, the VPN solution is most valuable. It allows you to have more flexibility in terms of what is there on the end-user device, and what is not there. You can check and make sure that they're current. It has more flexibility than just a straight VPN solution. It works really well. It has the features that 99% of people need."
"I find the simplicity to be most valuable."
"The reporting is good."
"The most valuable feature is geofencing, where we can block all access from all non-domestic locations."
"The ease of deployment and management is commendable."
"The customer care center of Fortinet is good. For all the requests that we have done, they work as fast as possible, so this is a good point for Fortinet."

"The platform's compatibility with Wi-Fi equipment needs improvement."
"It would be good if they had fewer updates."

"It has a monitoring tool, but it could be improved."
"The solution is fairly complex."
"The solution could use very well-defined support for resellers."
"The licensing needs to be improved. We need longer licensing periods, especially for POCs and trials. It should be for six months. Right now, it's too short of a timeframe."
"The solution should be able to work in a hybrid setup."
"Sangfor could improve by providing better real-time reporting, as the current reports don't offer the level of detail we need, especially for runtime insights."
"Scalability for any network device is not very easy in terms of vertical scalability."
"The product must provide more IPS features."
"Lacks consistency in terms of filtering certain websites and applications."
"Sangfor NGAF could improve by refining its application control policies, especially in addressing challenges with certain types of applications."
"They need to increase the number of ports in the firewall."
"The firewall system needs gradual improvements because there are more threats and challenges every day."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Each feature costs money, so it is important to study your needs."
"Fortinet FortiGate is cheaper than Palo Alto. It is about 20% cheaper."
"Their licensing costs are annual. The UTM feature license along with their support is called FortiCare. We include that as a part of the annual maintenance cost. Palo Alto or Juniper also have an annual subscription charge for UTM. Price, of course, can always be more competitive, but it is not the most expensive product. The price-performance ratio is quite high for FortiGate."
"Fortinet is reasonable in pricing and licensing. Overall, FortiGate is affordable. The licensing fee can be a little high, depending on the budget for your project."
"It has a competitive price."
"Pricing is lower than Cisco."
"The price, in comparison to other products is very cheap."
"They are very competitive, but we like to have the factory warranty taken care of."
"On a scale of one to ten, where ten is very expensive, I rate the solution around two or three. I think the solution's prices are okay, considering the services and features they offer."
"I rate Fortinet FortiGate-VM's pricing a six out of ten."
"The customer must buy his own license."
"We are on an annual license for this solution and it could be cheaper."
"There are no additional costs beyond the standard fee."
"The product’s licensing must be a little cheaper."
"The license we pay is a yearly fee. I can't say it's very expensive; it is a good price and is highly suitable for our usage."
"The cost of this product is too high."
"It costs about 8 to 10 thousand dollars per year for 500 users, standard licensing fees included."
"It is one of the cheapest tools in the market."
"The price could be more competitive."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"For over 2000 users, the cost is around 5000 to 6000 USD. If you want a web application firewall, you have to purchase an additional license for it."
"Sangfor NGAF is a cheaply priced product, especially if I consider the previous product that was used in my company."
"Sangfor is cheaper than competing vendors."
"If one is very cheap and ten is very expensive, I rate the tool's price as three out of ten."
