Struggles with interface and integration while benefiting from portfolio synergy
We use Fortinet FortiNAC for security assessment, penetration testing, and posture assessment. These are the typical use cases for any NAC solution The main advantage of Fortinet FortiNAC is its integration with the entire Fortinet product portfolio, which includes the self-security fabric of…

Easy to scale, enforces policies well, and has responsive technical support
A lot of campuses use SafeConnect. It gives us good visibility and enforces policies. It helps enforce network security by scanning devices, making sure they have current and valid antivirus solutions with up-to-date antivirus definitions, and steers our end users by enforcing policy groups and steering them to the right access. Technical support is responsive. The stability is pretty good. It is very easy to scale the product.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable aspect of this product is its security features. Many customers prefer cheaper devices, but those often lack adequate security measures. It also supports compliance with industry regulations."
"Fortinet FortiNAC offers several valuable features, including data security, 99 percent uptime with VPN connections, MAC filtering, and traffic prioritization."
"The support is excellent when I encounter a problem or need to implement a new product. The support team is always helpful and responsive."
"When it works, it's great. It keeps things off the network which are supposed to be off the network."
"It's a very good solution and one thing I have noted is its simplicity and the ease of the set-up process."
"The solution has significantly reduced our operational costs related to network security and has streamlined network security management."
"The integration between switches, access points, management, analyzer, and other components is excellent. Everything is stable and can be managed from one place."
"The FortiNAC features I found the most valuable are security and the ability to consolidate wireless networks."
"It is very easy to scale the product."

Cons

"There could be better integration with legacy equipment. It integrates perfectly with all Fortinet solutions, but if you look at other third-party integrations—not on the networking part; but more on the security infrastructure part—it's more limited."
"The technical support is bad. We've had to escalate to Tier 2 and Tier 3. My customer relationship manager on the other side of this has stopped returning phone calls and emails, because there has been such a constant back and forth."
"We have some stability issues with the solution, the network drops out too often."
"The interface works fine, but it could be better."
"The user interface is quite complicated."
"Regarding vulnerabilities, one of the concerns is with the SSL VPN. Instead, I use another VPN that doesn't have the commonly exploited vulnerabilities."
"Fortinet's local support could be improved."
"FortiNAC could be more scalable."
"The solution would be much better if it offered self-service onboarding."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product cost is moderate."
"For the projects that we do the Fortinet FortiNAC is affordable."
"The price of Fortinet FortiNAC is less than Cisco's solution. However, the price could improve by being reduced."
"It's a pricey solution."
"If one is bad and ten is good, I rate the product price as a seven out of ten."
"FortiNAC's price has gone up in the last year. However, compared to other solutions, such as Cisco ISE, it is cheaper."
"I would rate the price of Fortinet FortiNAC seven out of ten with ten being the most expensive."
"The product itself is inexpensive, but the licensing is expensive."
"For our tier group, for one year, the cost is probably around $10,000 for the license. If you do multi-year, you could get two years, and you could get it for about $8,000 per year. If you do three years, you get it around $7,000 a year."
