Integration platform has simplified logistics workflows and has streamlined complex order handling
The best aspect is that it is very easy to use. The UI is very intuitive, and you can learn it very quickly because the basic principles are straightforward and easy to search. Frends has a great UI, but the UI is missing role-based permissions. You can filter your integrations by roles and add several users to roles, but in the UI, the functionality for this kind of management feature is not optimal. User management or user role management could be improved.
Integration capabilities excel and support for varied platforms enhances communication across backend systems
We mainly use REST APIs, and the solution's integration capabilities are excellent. It allows communication with a number of back-end providers and data consolidation. The flexibility to develop APIs for various platforms, from front-end applications to ATM machines, is valuable. Code changes and migration are straightforward, and it supports identity and access management integration.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best aspect is that it is very easy to use."
"The user-friendly interface for constructing integration solutions is also a notable benefit."
"The product has valuable features for version control."
"One of the benefits is the speed of creating something new. Second, it's replacing the old integration quite fast. Then it is like the visibility of the integration and the possibility to see what is happening in the integration."
"It is flexible in how it creates custom policies and uses builds with impressive methods."
"The technical support is quite excellent, and support staff usually respond quickly and are helpful."
"The product documentation helps the client and/or user to evolve quickly while using the tool."
"I recommend this product because of how successful we've been with it."
"It's a very good product to use to initially set up single sign-on for web services authentication."
"The most valuable aspects for us are the security features, such as OAuth and access control, and it's a flexible tool that performs well."
"For developers to be able to come, sign up, or find APIs."
"Thanks to this product, we have successfully secured SOAP and REST APIs and exposed them to international/domestic partners using the standard industry protocols."

Cons

"Logging should be better."
"It is a new application and lacks some essential features compared to competitors."
"Another enhancement includes the monitoring part. It would be nice to have some sort of maybe mobile app on which we can see how integrations are running if there are some problems, and getting those alerts on the mobile would be really nice."
"One of the primary areas for improvement is a more mobile-friendly interface for the control center."
"The initial setup was complex and difficult mainly because we didn’t have heavy Linux support guys."
"The security protocols in CA's product, for financial services, weren't as good as those in API Connect."
"It's not stable. I want to publish new APIs with a socket, but it’s not stable enough for this."
"There is room for improvement in terms of innovation and investment, especially when compared to other leading products in the market."
"The interface is Java which is difficult to make look very nice."
"Its ID authentication is a little outdated. They need a multifactor authentication solution for the API layer and the other layers, as well."
"What I find other people saying is that the product portal for API development lacks some features; people who need that functionality are not impressed, they say it is lagging behind the competition."
"What is really important is that they offer the solution as a service, on a subscription or monthly basis, which will make it more attractive. That is where the market is headed. There are competitors within the industry that are doing that currently. I would encourage CA to do that."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is quite fair."
"Recent changes in their pricing have removed this benefit, moving towards process-specific pricing."
"The product is moderately priced."
"We weren't comfortable with the pricing of licensing. It was slightly more expensive than its competitors."
"I do not have experience with the pricing or licensing of the product."
"CA has great pricing for gateways, so negotiate with your sales team."
"There are various licensing models for Layer7 API Management. We have to buy additional licenses to get new versions."
"I think it's competitive. It's not that expensive when you compare CA with the Oracle product."
"For what we are after, the pricing is okay. It is competitive."
"I feel that it is costly for medium-sized companies."
