Senior Integration Architect at Visma
Offers simplicity, ease of customization, and visibility of integrations
One thing is that Frends keep the integration, and that is something I know that it's coming, like, a later version; that is something we will be currently missing. So the end-users could take an interest in use by themselves, with the release thing some result flow. That is the most wanted and requested feature for now. Another enhancement includes the monitoring part. It would be nice to have some sort of maybe mobile app on which we can see how integrations are running if there are some problems, and getting those alerts on the mobile would be really nice.

Has supported smooth channel partner integration and data analysis for several years
We use the existing services hosted in Microsoft Azure API Management without making any changes. For transformation capabilities, we utilize ADF, Data Factory instead of Microsoft Azure API Management. Regarding security features in Microsoft Azure API Management, we utilize token bearer authentication. As retailers with integration to our channel partners, we haven't experienced any security issues with Microsoft Azure API Management since it isn't exposed to external parties. We use a basic Azure function hosted in Microsoft Azure API Management rather than the integrated developer portal. Tracking analytics and performance analytics in Microsoft Azure API Management is straightforward. We use basic features for performance analytics and log analytics due to additional subscription charges. We enabled log analytics for Microsoft Azure API Management in the past month to investigate issues such as unreachable endpoints or request timeouts.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product has valuable features for version control."
"One of the benefits is the speed of creating something new. Second, it's replacing the old integration quite fast. Then it is like the visibility of the integration and the possibility to see what is happening in the integration."
"The user-friendly interface for constructing integration solutions is also a notable benefit."
"The ability to easily connect back to Service Fabric is the most important for us."
"The solution's configuration capabilities are the most effective features for enhancing API security."
"Everything is already available and ready to operate without a lot of preparation work."
"The price is pretty reasonable for us."
"The most valuable feature is the developer portal, which has source code examples in various programming languages to help developers learn the API."
"The ease of setting up a new solution is the most valuable feature; it's very easy to set up a new solution and to deploy it to production."
"We use this solution for API rate limiting and for its security features against DDoS."
"Access control is the most valuable aspect, as we are able to deploy multiple APIs and segregate who has access to each one, and that centralized management is what the customer is really looking for."

Cons

"It is a new application and lacks some essential features compared to competitors."
"One of the primary areas for improvement is a more mobile-friendly interface for the control center."
"Another enhancement includes the monitoring part. It would be nice to have some sort of maybe mobile app on which we can see how integrations are running if there are some problems, and getting those alerts on the mobile would be really nice."
"In the next release, Azure APIM should include deployment in various environments and CI/CD for deployment."
"Latency is an area that needs improvement, especially for multi-tenant applications."
"Security could be improved."
"The solution has a kind of calculator and it's not always straightforward to figure out the logic in pricing. For a non-technical person, it's a nightmare to figure everything out."
"Technical support could be more helpful and responsive."
"Technical support could be more helpful and responsive."
"I'd like to have better flexibility and more capabilities."
"The licensing part of Microsoft is always higher than other platforms, like Amazon services and other cloud services. Microsoft should work on reducing the cost."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is quite fair."
"Recent changes in their pricing have removed this benefit, moving towards process-specific pricing."
"The product pricing is reasonable."
"We are paying standard fees to use Microsoft Azure API Management."
"It is an expensive solution, but any API solution will be expensive."
"It costs around 30,000 Kronas a month, which translates to about $3,000 dollars monthly."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a five out of ten."
"We pay for a yearly license."
"Azure is a pay-as-you-go model. You build out your virtual environment and pay a monthly price depending on CPU cores, storage, etc."
"I would describe the tool's price as being in the mid-range category."
