Integration platform has simplified logistics workflows and has streamlined complex order handling
The best aspect is that it is very easy to use. The UI is very intuitive, and you can learn it very quickly because the basic principles are straightforward and easy to search. Frends has a great UI, but the UI is missing role-based permissions. You can filter your integrations by roles and add several users to roles, but in the UI, the functionality for this kind of management feature is not optimal. User management or user role management could be improved.

We use the existing services hosted in Microsoft Azure API Management without making any changes. For transformation capabilities, we utilize ADF, Data Factory instead of Microsoft Azure API Management. Regarding security features in Microsoft Azure API Management, we utilize token bearer authentication. As retailers with integration to our channel partners, we haven't experienced any security issues with Microsoft Azure API Management since it isn't exposed to external parties. We use a basic Azure function hosted in Microsoft Azure API Management rather than the integrated developer portal. Tracking analytics and performance analytics in Microsoft Azure API Management is straightforward. We use basic features for performance analytics and log analytics due to additional subscription charges. We enabled log analytics for Microsoft Azure API Management in the past month to investigate issues such as unreachable endpoints or request timeouts.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The user-friendly interface for constructing integration solutions is also a notable benefit."
"The product has valuable features for version control."
"The best aspect is that it is very easy to use."
"One of the benefits is the speed of creating something new. Second, it's replacing the old integration quite fast. Then it is like the visibility of the integration and the possibility to see what is happening in the integration."
"API and microservices based architectures is the modern architecture to enable organizations for digital growth."
"It's easy to use compared to other products. It's easy to set up."
"Microsoft Azure API Management is a good, comprehensive solution for enterprise implementation."
"It's easier to use and has more features than Google."
"The documentation and configuration of APIs."
"The most valuable features of Microsoft Azure API Management are the easy configuration and deployment with automation."
"There were no scalability issues."
"It’s easy to set up."

Cons

"Another enhancement includes the monitoring part. It would be nice to have some sort of maybe mobile app on which we can see how integrations are running if there are some problems, and getting those alerts on the mobile would be really nice."
"It is a new application and lacks some essential features compared to competitors."
"One of the primary areas for improvement is a more mobile-friendly interface for the control center."
"Logging should be better."
"The portal where we publish the APIs could be improved. Maybe this is because we didn't configure it. It is quite easy to bypass API management because we have a lot of information shared on the portal, where we publish our APIs. I worry there is potential for a security breach in the API publishing. There needs to be more security available on terms of the way we publish them."
"The integration with other API gateways is where they might try to improve."
"Expansion to global regions is a point for improvement, as licensing is costly."
"It's okay. It's not as good as Google."
"The hybrid part could be improved because API Management is entirely cloud-based, but some of our resources are on-prem, so formatting is an issue. Our goal is dual implementation."
"Security could be improved."
"This solution is only available as a cloud-based deployment and it would be very helpful to have an on-premises version."
"Microsoft is huge, and when it comes to support, it's not so great as compared to, if you have something software specific. Whenever you ask them a question, they assume you to know everything."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Recent changes in their pricing have removed this benefit, moving towards process-specific pricing."
"The pricing is quite fair."
"Azure API Management is the most expensive solution on the market."
"There are additional costs to the standard licensing fees."
"Azure's pricing is very competitive compared to platforms like Apigee and MuleSoft."
"The solution is highly expensive. Our customers worry about the costs. The price should be a lot less."
"I rate the solution's pricing between three and four, as it could be more competitive."
"Based on the resources that we are leveraging, the price we are paying to use this solution is slightly higher than other competitors. In a few cases, it has its own advantage in some resources."
"Licensing fees are paid on an annual basis."
"The solution appears cheaper because it's a cloud SaaS model."
