I haven't found any specific areas for modernization or improvement in Galen Framework yet. However, one observation I have made is about the auto-generation of Galen files. While this feature exists, functions don't seem to be available for automatically generating Galen values based on the specifications in the spec file, and this could be a potential improvement for Galen Framework.

Visual Studio Test Professional could be improved as earlier we had flexibility in automation testing with TFS, which became a bit difficult moving to Azure DevOps. Additionally, in Visual Studio Code, we have an agent mode for GitHub Copilot, which is very helpful in testing or development phases, while Visual Studio's GitHub Copilot is a bit tricky and sometimes does not provide my desired output. For future improvements, I would like to see prompt fixing, as currently, if something goes wrong in Visual Studio, the fixing options are not always correct. If that intelligence is embedded, it would be very helpful.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"In the market, not so many tools are able to check the layout with different screen resolutions as Galen can."
"What I like most about Galen Framework are its advantages, particularly its spec language and the spec file feature."
"The tool is free, resulting in no costs associated with its use. The absence of price makes it cost-effective."
"The solution is very stable; there's nothing in relation to stability to complain about."
"The stability has always been very good."
"The solution is very useful for compiling existing projects and developing new projects."
"The most valuable features of Visual Studio Test Professional are the IntelliSense and the ease of adding the NuGet packages."
"User-friendly ID and direct integration with GitHub are the most valuable."
"The performance of Visual Studio Test Professional is valuable."
"MTM is very good for maintaining the test plan, test suite and all, and can link automation scripts with existing manual test cases."

Cons

"There don't seem to be functions available for automatically generating Galen values based on the specifications in the spec file, and this could be a potential improvement for Galen Framework."
"When I use @Test(dataProvider), it causes a loop; the test result/report cannot accept the value of the data and show it in the test result/report."
"Sometimes Visual Studio is slow. It uses a lot of resources like memory and processing power. You should optimize the performance by only installing what you need on your machine. Don't install unnecessary things that will slow your machine."
"The Git extensions are very basic and can be more extensive compared to other software focused on Git, like GitTower or SmartGit."
"Sometimes, the product is too complex to use."
"The vendor must release a lightweight version of the solution."
"Enhancing the support for web application testing and load performance would be an improvement."
"Its UI could be better."
"Visual Studio Test Professional should include more automation."
"It is hard to learn, and you need to invest time to understand it."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"I think that the pricing is quite good."
"There are two versions of Visual Studio Test Professional: Community and Professional. We are currently using the Community version, but if we start working on a commercial product, we will consider upgrading to the Professional version. We need to identify how we will proceed with our projects, and based on that, we will decide on our licensing."
"We use the solution’s community version, and the solution’s pricing could be cheaper."
"For the cloud services option, you buy a subscription per account or per user. This costs around $52 a month per person."
"The tool is affordable."
"There is a paid version of the solution as well as a community version that is free."
"The pricing is expensive."
"Visual Studio Test Professional is not an expensive solution."
