Daily workflows have become streamlined as I manage projects, learn from clones, and host sites
The thing that has frustrated me is sometimes when I push using a Git command, I need to force the push, which is the main thing. The setup is frustrating because GitHub could add a repository with pre-installed packages or something since I need to install packages in VS Code before pushing and maintain it in the codebase. Git packages need to be installed manually, and if that was already in a GitHub repository, that would be much better. GitHub packages can be installed previously for the project upon the project requirement, and that is the thing I wanted to add here. That would be good. According to governance and security, I recently heard about some security issues in GitHub. I think that could be centralized and should consider those security issues and clear them. The AI capabilities there include Copilot or something else. I recently heard about security issues, but I do not know about it clearly. However, if security has been more tightened, it will be better.

Great for hybrid workers, minimizes latency and delivers great performance
We haven't encountered major issues with the solution. We are really happy that we decided to purchase Venn Software, although they are quite new. The initial setup is seamless. It's not overly complex. In our experience, for the most part, the solution is reliable. We haven't experienced any bugs or glitches. That said, the performance could be a bit better. We'd like to see a bit more done with the deployment capabilities. The solution needs to offer better local or regional support to cater to offshore users.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features of GitHub are the ease of integration into Microsoft Azure DevOps, the process that you need to deploy into Microsoft Azure becomes fairly simple, and the templates are already available, so a lot of the engineers find it easier to use."
"The solution can scale."
"This product is very good for storing and versioning code."
"During our use of GitHub, we have not encountered any problems and GitHub adds new features frequently."
"GitHub is convenient and easy to use."
"GitHub is the perfect tool for use at present and is extremely necessary."
"The product has a very user-friendly interface and user-friendly security."
"GitHub has improved the productivity of my team by simplifying code merging and enabling effective branching strategies."
"Since the software is launched directly from the computer, not remotely delivered, it has minimized latency and response time."
"We don't need to go to the physical office, and it only requires minimal supervision or assistance from our IT Team."
"It allows us to improve our security and prevent company files and data leaks."

Cons

"The onboarding process could be simplified."
"The ticketing system is not working."
"The integration with Visual Studio Code could be more streamlined."
"It is very tricky to work with GitHub. For example, it is difficult to merge a code or restore it to an older version."
"I think one area where GitHub could improve is its search and navigation functionality within repositories. For example, we use IDEs like IntelliJ or Visual Studio Code when developing code. These IDEs allow us to easily navigate from one piece of code to another file where a method is being called. It would be really helpful if the solution could add this navigation feature."
"Regarding improvements, I preferred the tool's earlier pricing model, which limited storage and the number of repositories instead of the number of users, which was more convenient from a customer perspective. I've also experienced issues with GitHub servers being unable to support moving repositories, which caused problems. For basic plans, no support was available to help resolve these issues. I think GitHub should provide more support for smaller businesses to help with these problems."
"There is nothing that I find that needs improvement in GitHub."
"The solution lacks sufficient support in terms of professional services that could be provided proactively to customers."
"It would be better to have the back end more efficient."
"We'd like to see a bit more done with the deployment capabilities."
"Currently, Venn only uses two platforms/applications: Windows and Mac. It would be great if they could also add more platforms since some BYOD employees might be using an application other than Windows or Mac - for example, Linux."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I think, in terms of price, GitHub is okay compared to other tools."
"The basic licensing model is free, and if you need to have technical support and such things, then it does cost something. You only need to pay extra if you need technical support."
"We have an enterprise licensing agreement, and I am not part of the finance department so I can't say how much it costs."
"I am using the free version of the solution. However, there are some costs my organization pays."
"We pay a subscription-based yearly licensing fee for the solution."
"If I consider the market standards, the product's price is pocket-friendly."
"We pay a licensing fee for GitHub, which could be cheaper."
"The licensing model from GitHub is very clear."
