Monitors well with Citrix, stable, and the support is very responsive
It looks like it is easy to scale, but I don't know how far it can go out. We are only a 300, or 400 person company. We are not terribly large. It looks like it should be able to scale up until 10,000 at least. There are two users in the company who use this solution, I use it, and the helpdesk.

Efficient management and upgrades streamline complex setups
My main complaint is about the blades on the frames, which seem to have a lot of problems. We often have to call HPE for replacements, such as for memory. Constant issues arise, leading to frequent replacement of blade parts. Additionally, the upgrade process is lengthy, requiring careful planning as we cannot match ESXi versions without aligning OneView first, leading to delays.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I like that it not only has the ability to monitor but that it can do a lot of specific Citrix monitoring."
"I would definitely give them high praise for what they do, and for being a special niche product."
"I like that the solution offers a diversity of things; it can give you resource monitoring, it can be integrated to detect an application crash, to capture syslog, things like that, and I like the diversity of the dashboard."
"Offers a diversity of features."
"I like that it is quite easy to add servers and get them monitored and manageable, create templates for server profiles, and see if all my servers are on correct firmware levels with SPP packaging."
"I definitely recommend OneView; if you are an HPE shop, it's the way of the future."
"OneView is a single pane of glass, getting everything managed and structured for us and bringing all our tools together with templates that give us speed to delivery and make a big difference."
"Technical support is top notch."
"Everything we ask for is there."
"I would definitely advise them to work with HPE."
"In the latest version, I like the way that everything's been consolidated and brought together, one single pane of glass for management."
"Have a single plane of glass across all of the server platforms."

Cons

"Issues with generating reports; consistency is not there."
"With Goliath IT Monitors, the processing speed is very slow."
"I would love to be able to tell what ISP the user is coming from."
"The setup is a bit complex."
"Well when you're a partner you don't get HP Tech Support on your demo licenses so I had to build it myself but I managed to get through it and it's not inherently hard but you've got to pay attention to the details."
"I saw, maybe three years ago or two years ago here, or in Barcelona, at the HPE Discover conference, a feature that you can update Clusterware with VMware. But the feature is still not live in production. Currently, you have to do all the firmware updates and then you have to do the VMware updates. So you have two reboots and it would be better if it was just one."
"When the tool set first launched, the HPE support organization had some challenges."
"I would like to see them expand into other cloud platforms, non-HPE platforms."
"Integration could be improved. Sometimes OneView doesn't identify physical hardware."
"I think HPE could make more user-friendly interfaces, exclude Java and move to an HTML5 platform, make more detailed documentation, and lower the price."
"I'd like to see more integration across Hypervisor and 3PAR storage and other storage products."
"I would love the ability to either import a range of IPs for the ILO, or be able to do a scan."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price seems reasonable."
"HPE could lower the price."
"Use it. It is free."
"The solution is free to use, but if you want the management aspect you require a virtual machine such as C7000 or Synergy which require licenses."
"Synergy does not require iLO licenses but servers and enclosures must be purchased."
"I am happy with the price."
"I feel the product's price falls a bit on the higher side."
"When it comes to the government, money is never an issue, so it was excellent in terms of the HPE OneView licensing cost. Hitachi was cheaper, but I'd rate HPE OneView cost-wise as eight out of ten."
"HPE had some other solutions, but they were actually quite expensive to buy. So, when OneView came along, it was kind of reasonable in terms of price for licenses, etc."
