Better support and more accessible resources are crucial. Customers have expressed that support is not as flexible, and it is difficult to obtain necessary information quickly. Customers would benefit from improved training material for integration with other products. The solution's pricing is high and needs to be reconsidered, and the technical support should improve to provide more accessible and open information.

Monitors well with Citrix, stable, and the support is very responsive
It looks like it is easy to scale, but I don't know how far it can go out. We are only a 300, or 400 person company. We are not terribly large. It looks like it should be able to scale up until 10,000 at least. There are two users in the company who use this solution, I use it, and the helpdesk.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"In the past we would spend months in meetings with a new customer, defining what they wanted to monitor, and most of the time we would come back home to see if that was possible to do, however, with CA UIM, we can provide our clients with a predefined menu of items to collect, and we can select those faster and more efficiently."
"With UIM, the ROI is way up there."
"The second major feature is the user-friendly interface; it's the best feature for our customers, because we are the implementers of the software."
"I enjoy the product; it has done everything that we expected it to do."
"It has a good learning curve for someone even if he doesn't have experience with server monitoring tools."
"Prior to using this solution, we had three point solutions in place; one for voice infrastructure, one for servers, and one for networks, and this tool meant we were actually able to collapse everything into a single interface which made my team's life easier, but it also meant that our first line staff then just had one view of the customer's entire infrastructure."
"Unified Management Portal (UMP) is the most valuable feature, as it did a lot of health monitoring for our environment to prevent some issues from happening."
"It provides us with infrastructure availability and application availability."
"I like that the solution offers a diversity of things; it can give you resource monitoring, it can be integrated to detect an application crash, to capture syslog, things like that, and I like the diversity of the dashboard."
"In conclusion, I think Goliath Performance Monitor is a true winner."
"I think Goliath offers a very good tool to do simulated Citrix logons with actual user accounts and that the reports are useful to monitor and debug a session."
"Offers a diversity of features."
"I like that it not only has the ability to monitor but that it can do a lot of specific Citrix monitoring."
"I would definitely give them high praise for what they do, and for being a special niche product."
"My overall conclusion is that it is a valuable product for simulating Citrix logons because it does it with minimal effort and with a real user account."

Cons

"The NAS probe has a performance issue. When there is huge number of incoming events, NAS fails to process them."
"Our experience has been that UIM does not do discovery well."
"Better support and more accessible resources are crucial. Customers have expressed that support is not as flexible, and it is difficult to obtain necessary information quickly."
"The automated discovery tools have come a long way in the past few years, but it would be nice if that same tool could also pull systems configuration information as well."
"Improvements could be made to the reporting and analytics features. The OOB report templates and analytics can be improved."
"Customer support is good, but sometimes needs bit of urgency from a CA engineer to look at the issue."
"The probes (basic components that can, amongst other things, monitor particular systems) can be buggy."
"It is going to be about looking at the technologies we choose to implement over the next couple of years, and how we can get more native information from those solutions."
"The setup is a bit complex."
"However, its GUI can use a little help. The navigation is not the most straightforward like many other monitoring tools."
"With Goliath IT Monitors, the processing speed is very slow."
"Hardware requirements of the management server are kind of steep, 4cpu is quite a number."
"I would love to be able to tell what ISP the user is coming from."
"Issues with generating reports; consistency is not there."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The license cost depends on the number of probes and robots."
"This product is expensive compared to other vendors (SolarWinds, ManageEngine)."
"Pricing for DX Unified Infrastructure Management isn't cheap at all. It's a complex tool, so you have to pay more. No one is happy with a large bill to pay, but if it's a complex product and you designed a complex solution to be monitored, it'll be your fault that you need to buy an expensive product, and that would be implicit in the design of DX Unified Infrastructure Management. Monitoring is just a small part of it. Sometimes you have to pay a significant amount of money for a complex yet very good solution."
"The product-price ratio is better than other brands such as Fortinet or SonicWall."
"Reasonable setup cost and licensing prices."
"CAD $400,000 annually."
"The price seems reasonable."
