Seamless collaboration has improved how I manage assignments, deadlines, and class resources

Google Classroom has the very best feature of assignment workflow, which is its core strength. I can create it, assign it, submit it, and have a grade on it all in one flow, so there is nothing to be changed. It also has real-time collaboration, allowing multiple students to work on the same documentation or assignment simultaneously, and the teacher can also see that and comment live. It has an automatic file management system where I can save my work, which is important because sometimes I do an assignment and forget to save, losing those assignments. This feature includes built-in video learning, allowing me to directly join classrooms via Google Classroom. It also supports Google Forms, Google Slides, and is very mobile-friendly. Google Classroom has reduced time in task tracking because I can have clear ownership and deadlines for everything. It has helped me to appreciate structured workflows by ticketing systems and improved collaborations, allowing many people to work together. I can understand that time has also been reduced. It has a limited impact on deep technical skills, but that is also good. It has helped me to understand structured workflow and utilize real-time features through Google Docs and Drive.

Its pricing is competitive, but the auto-assign feature that is most valuable for us hasn't been working for the last year and a half

We have a complex implementation because we have an outsourced population of over 50% of our user base. So, we have a lot of challenges. We have no HCM for user data. We have to create our own custom metadata to manage everything, and there are lots of logistical challenges in terms of implementation. If you have to go through and create a custom metadata system, as we did, and stand up all these other systems, it would take three to six months. If you have a human capital management system that's ready to go and you have all your data in the right segments and whatnot, it could be done in one to three months. In terms of maintenance, we recently re-scoped this to where we have one person that oversees the LMS as a whole, and then we have two administrators that carry out the tactical task, such as auto enrollments, user creations, and all other audit components. We also have a rotational employee that does audits on the LMS to make sure everything is working correctly.

You can automatically link activities, and there is a flow, but in Google Classroom, you don't have that feature. All you can do is put the material and tell students what to do. For example, I have an assignment, but I want my students to read a particular text before that. They need to tick it, or they need to click next before they start doing the activity. After that, I want them to do comprehension questions or something else. In Moodle, there are activities such as assignments, quizzes, etc. There is a lesson module in which you can put all of the activities in a flow. So, you can decide what they need to do first. If students answer a question incorrectly, you can decide and design to which page do they need to go next, and which part do they need to review. This is currently missing in Google Classroom."
