Ease of developing dashboards and receiving strong technical support have enabled efficient data visualization
Introducing custom features, such as NLP-based reports, is not very good in Tableau. My MD has been asking us for a way to write in natural language to request reports that the system should generate, but that isn't very effective with Tableau. As a developer, I can develop an on-demand report in Python quite easily, but exposing a REST API on the Tableau platform is not a very easy task. AI enablement is an area for improvement for Tableau, and that is something they might have to work upon. I have heard that ThoughtSpot is quite better in this regard, but the cost of ThoughtSpot is much higher. ThoughtSpot has lots of natural language-based report generation features that Tableau lacks.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Holistics Data Software is easy to use, and the price is suitable for my company."
"The most valuable feature is the geographic data analysis."
"In particular, I believe in the ease that Tableau provides for generating statistics and content in real time."
"Tableau's very stable."
"I love the customization skills that Tableau has, it is not restricted to what is built-in already."
"Visualization and user friendly."
"The data blending capabilities is a huge factor for our team."
"We are much more nimble in our ability to provide tactical data and deploy scalable enterprise dashboards and visualizations to staff within the organization."
"You can create attractive dashboards that inform users using Tableau."

Cons

"The learning curve was quite hard for us to master all the features at the beginning."
"Tableau's data modeling, mining, and AI library features need improvement."
"The integration with other program languages, like Python, needs to be better."
"Pricing is also a concern for me as it is expensive compared to TIBCO Spotfire Enterprise licensing and Microsoft Power Platform."
"They need to make it more flexible for enterprise administration, e.g, more job scheduling flexibility, more robust permission control, and more comprehensive mapping service that is native and not dependent on a third party like Mapbox."
"When compared to Power BI, it is less user-friendly."
"Firstly, the high cost of Tableau licenses makes it inaccessible for many mid-scale clients. Secondly, the server requires at least 128GB of RAM, which can be impractical for some systems. We need a dedicated system to use Tableau."
"But we face some stability (crash or freezing) and performance (slowness) issues with large datasets, especially when we export our Tableau visualization to Tableau Public."
"I would like them to include the Italian language, as I can see there are other foreign language in the product."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"I downloaded the solution online for free."
"Tableau's licensing is pretty straightforward and simple."
"The solution is expensive but it depends on the customer's needs which will determine the cost of the licensing."
"We are paying an annual licensing fee."
"There is a license for the use of this solution and it is on a per-user basis. The server is free but the users you have to pay for."
"Its price is higher than Power BI and QlikView. Tableau costs around $70 per user per month, whereas Power BI is around $8 to $9. QlikView is around $30. Tableau has various prices for various models such as Creator, Designer."
"Cost is where tools like MicroStrategy, Power BI, or Spotfire come into play. Cost-wise, Tableau is a little bit costlier than other tools such as Power BI. I have been using Tableau all these years, but about four years ago, Power BI came out at a very low cost. Their desktop version was free from the beginning. Power BI Desktop has always been free, whereas Tableau Desktop is costly. When it comes to cost, people prefer Power BI because it integrates very well with Office 365. You don't have to worry about integration with Teams or SharePoint."
"I'm using Tableau Public, which is free."
