Uninterrupted upgrades accelerate performance with good support
I would rate the solution eight out of ten. It should be noted that in Pakistan, some parts are not readily available, and we need to import them from Singapore or other countries. We encountered an issue with a customer where the midplane failed and was not available. We had to wait for several days for a replacement, even in a 24/7 support case. Additionally, we faced motherboard failures in the customer's environment, encountering two motherboard failures simultaneously. We obtained one motherboard immediately, yet had to wait ten days for another. These issues should have been resolved promptly given the 24/7 support level.

Has the ability to automatically deal with faulty disks
In terms of the most beneficial features of the product, I would say that during the faulty disk replacement process, the tool automatically ungroups the faulty disk, so from the tool itself, anybody can identify which disk is faulty and then repair it. The data replication part is not enabled in the product that I use since the DRP feature is not enabled. I work with the product's high availability feature. Considering the size of the environment where the product is used, the product offers around 80 to 90 TB of storage space. I won't recommend the product to others who plan to use it. The implementation process of the product would be as per the standard of the organization where it is going to be used. Everyone should have their own organizational data structure as per the data orientation needs. I rate the tool an eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The performance compared to other products, and over time having the product and using it for six years, has been tremendous and brought about positive things."
"I would say one of the most valuable is the ability to dedup on a CPG level, that's one of the newest features that has come out most recently and has enabled us to get a ratio of about 7.1 to 1."
"The 3PAR is very reliable, most of our performance complaints went away after we put the 3PARs in, and it is simple to manage and easily serviceable by our technicians."
"We deployed 3PAR in the national and international markets. It's not bad, the solution."
"The initial setup was very straightforward."
"Tech support is good. They're knowledgeable."
"The tool is fast and easy to use. You can also configure it easily. The product also has good performance tuning."
"With our electronical health record, we are one of the few customers who are able to offer it as a service to other hospital systems."
"My most important criteria when selecting a vendor are price, dedupe, and compression."
"It is very stable."
"It's fast, reliable, and it's very good for the price."
"HPE has reliable support for HDD replacement."
"There have been no fail-stop failures for the last five years."
"The solution's most valuable feature is storage provisioning, which allows me to easily provision the disk space on the servers."
"We cannot stop this SAN array; it has never failed since it was started, and we have not had a problem with it at all."

Cons

"Cloud integration could be better. They can also add an NVMe to port to that. I would like to see NVMe in the next release. That's the future or the near future for storage. That will give us a real high throughput and some performance."
"I would like them to improve it so I can do firmware upgrades without downtime."
"I'd like their technical support to be better."
"3PAR did not increase our performance, and it has increased our latency by at least double."
"We need additional enhancements to InfoSight, especially from a VM standpoint. Today, we can see in the Azure VM performance stats in 3PAR, but it is so huge, we can't just drill down on each and every VM and look at its performance."
"We have had a few issues with it. We had our virtual environment lock up a few times on storage-based things. We think we have it sorted out, but maybe it came down to a configuration issue on it."
"I have to contact them for any inquiries about storage or compatibility with new systems. This slows down our ability to make quick decisions."
"3PAR has StoreOnce and replication. I would like it if they worked together."
"In general, my boss feels that HPE's prices are very high."
"It could be just this particular model, but the storage is not so stable."
"I faced some issues during the disk replacement process in HPE EVA."
"Performance could probably be improve with faster controllers, but it is already an old device. We do have performance problems now, but it is a rather old device, so we have what we have."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is lower in price as compared to other vendors, such as Dell. As compared to Huawei, all storage solutions are expensive, including this one."
"From a comparison of bang-for-the-buck, what you get for the money, I'd have to say they are one of the market leaders. Are there solutions that do it faster? Sure, but you're going to pay for it. 3PAR isn't the cheapest, it isn't the most expensive, but in my opinion, it's the best."
"The cost is reasonable given that the licensing is all included once you purchase it."
"This solution is expensive. We pay every year for support. It's a lump sum because we pay for data center support services, and everything is included in one."
"Cost-wise, it is a little bit on the higher side, but it is an awesome product."
"The price of HPE 3PAR StoreServ is reasonable, but buying upgrade licenses are priced very high. There are additional fees."
"3PAR was quite a bit less money than EMC, and that was one of the deciding factors."
"The total cost of ownership really is worth every penny."

Measuring Up: EMC XtremIO and HP 3PAR
Leading up to EMC World 2015, IT Central Station asked how I would compare EMC XtremIO and HP 3PAR. Until recently, the flash storage conversation in my organization and many others has centered on XtremIO and Pure Storage, the leaders of the all-flash array (AFA) space. To that end, I've written a…
