Storage has supported long-term CCTV archiving and improves on-premises application performance
I think it would be good regarding how Dell PowerVault could improve to have, in addition to the excellent support service that exists, some training courses, forums, and a training school for using these tools. Many people specialize only in this kind of equipment, and others have no idea how to configure them or how they work and always end up depending on people who have spent a long time working with these systems and know how to handle them more because of experience than because of information that can be easily obtained about using this equipment. Everything regarding additional aspects that could be improved in Dell PowerVault has already been mentioned.

Has the ability to automatically deal with faulty disks
In terms of the most beneficial features of the product, I would say that during the faulty disk replacement process, the tool automatically ungroups the faulty disk, so from the tool itself, anybody can identify which disk is faulty and then repair it. The data replication part is not enabled in the product that I use since the DRP feature is not enabled. I work with the product's high availability feature. Considering the size of the environment where the product is used, the product offers around 80 to 90 TB of storage space. I won't recommend the product to others who plan to use it. The implementation process of the product would be as per the standard of the organization where it is going to be used. Everyone should have their own organizational data structure as per the data orientation needs. I rate the tool an eight out of ten.

Pros

"For us, the initial setup was easy."
"Customer Service: Very good general Dell Storage support is very responsive."
"The most valuable feature of Dell PowerVault is its performance."
"Dell is a good company to work with."
"It is easy to take a snapshot with a single click on the volume, and we can also automate the snapshot on a daily schedule at a specific time."
"The most valuable features in Dell PowerVault are a hybrid of SSD and HDD, the FC connection to the servers, the ease of updating firmware, and its overall stability and resilience."
"I find this solution to be cost-effective in providing data storage for clients."
"Dell PowerVault is user-friendly and easy to deploy."
"HPE has reliable support for HDD replacement."
"There have been no fail-stop failures for the last five years."
"The solution's most valuable feature is storage provisioning, which allows me to easily provision the disk space on the servers."
"It's fast, reliable, and it's very good for the price."
"We cannot stop this SAN array; it has never failed since it was started, and we have not had a problem with it at all."
"It is very stable."
"My most important criteria when selecting a vendor are price, dedupe, and compression."

Cons

"The high prices of the solution are an area of concern where improvements are required."
"Something that could be improved or enhanced by Dell is more exchange of new information about the technology itself, a broader exchange of suggestions, new contributions, and new insights that we could be implementing in our environment."
"In most instances, clients are using Dell PowerVault with tape drives, but we want to transition them away from tape drives due to the risk of data loss."
"We could set up the installation through a web server, but it's not very reactive on the web server. For example, when you launch a task, and you don't know exactly if the task has begun or if the task is in progress, or if it's finished. You have to wait for three to five to ten minutes to be sure that the task is running or in progress or finished. So at that point, it's not very good."
"I would like Dell to improve on the configuration of the disk groups. Only one group is expandable. Once you configure the other disk group types, you cannot expand them. It limits scalability. If you want maybe to grow a disk group, you lose information, and then you need to build it up again, which is not a good use case for customers."
"Dell PowerVault is capturing an area that is needed for our customers, and it can be improved if this part could include a NAS option as well since the entry-level NAS part is currently missing in the portfolio, which would be a very good offering for customers, especially for their small and medium businesses."
"Only once when the storage array seem to be very slow and caused VMware Hosts to not see the volumes."
"We've had some control issues."
"I faced some issues during the disk replacement process in HPE EVA."
"In general, my boss feels that HPE's prices are very high."
"Performance could probably be improve with faster controllers, but it is already an old device. We do have performance problems now, but it is a rather old device, so we have what we have."
"It could be just this particular model, but the storage is not so stable."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate the pricing model a nine out of ten, with one being expensive and ten being cheap."
"Dell PowerVault's price is the tool's main attraction."
"The price of Dell PowerVault could be reduced. It is more expensive than some IBM solutions."
"The cost, compared to other solutions, is on the higher end."
"The product is inexpensive."
"They are offering a wide range of support models for the customers such as basic support that is budget-friendly, but they also provide a professional support solution that is a bit costly"
"I rate the product price a nine on a scale of one to ten, where one is low, and ten is high."
"It is important to remember that the retail price may seem high, but the final price is usually different."
