PROS

Dell PowerVault is praised for its ability to provide scalable, stable, and secure storage for small to medium businesses, making it suitable for uses like video surveillance and infrastructure scaling.
It is recognized for its cost-effectiveness, offering features like data deduplication and replication, and providing a good return on investment without compromising performance.
The setup and deployment process is highlighted as being simple, with the ease of configuration and expandability appreciated by users.
Its performance and stability, even under high user loads and long usage periods, is rated highly, with users noting the seamless I/O operations and ability to efficiently manage and scale storage needs.
Additional features include hybrid storage options with SSD and HDD, FC connection, resiliency, and ease of firmware updates, making it a competitive choice in its market segment.

CONS

Dell PowerVault lacks integration with Active Directory and only offers SAN storage, unlike other solutions that provide unified SAN and NAS.
Setup via a web server is unresponsive, often requiring a significant waiting period to confirm task initiation or completion.
The system would benefit from enhanced deduplication, compression, and flash technology support, which are currently absent.
Disk group configuration limitations are evident as most groups are not expandable, affecting scalability negatively.
High acquisition costs may deter potential clients, especially when compared to competitors like Hitachi and IBM who offer more competitive pricing.

My advice to others who are considering using Dell PowerVault is that it is definitely a reliable, stable platform and an extremely robust player to be considered in any type of project, whether in those where the storage or even performance demand is lower, as well as in projects where the amount of available space is huge and the need for performance is extremely high.

I would say my favorite features of Dell PowerVault are that it's pretty easy to use, it has been pretty stable, firmware updates have been pretty easy to install, and replacing a bad drive is fairly simple.

The biggest advantage of the product that really stands out for me is its price and the comparison of price with performance; its price is very good, and the performance according to this price is sufficient based on backup requirements, so it is perfect.

Sometimes, engineers or someone who does not have proper knowledge always give more storage than what is required initially, and then we cannot reduce that storage.

Something that could be improved or enhanced by Dell is more exchange of new information about the technology itself, a broader exchange of suggestions, new contributions, and new insights that we could be implementing in our environment.

Dell's technical support will guide you through the steps, but there are certain steps they are not able to do for you, so you might need a local service provider.

There is room for improvement with Dell PowerVault as we did have some promises about dedupe and compression that did not turn out as promised, but Dell trued up and gave us more storage for no cost.

Dell PowerVault is not intelligent enough with AI, it includes some features but is not intelligent like PowerStore.
