Robust scalability and flexibility in managing workflow
There is a need for improved support in HPE GreenLake, including more administrators and engineers to provide faster resolution for issues. Storage issues can impact the entire data center, especially in virtualization environments where multiple virtual machines are connected. Availability of hardware and timely monitoring have been reported as a problem, with some difficulties in obtaining hardware due to limited stock in the local market.

Exceptional speed improves performance with short and long-term storage

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It sort of lines up with our direction to move to the cloud. By using a hybrid cloud service to get us there, this allows us to run our legacy workloads on-premise. Those which are not really suited to a proper cloud."
"The biggest thing that it gives us is reportability; that's the critical component. By giving us a monthly bill that is expandable based on usage, we're able to report back to the organization on the value that we're actually getting out of the hardware platform."
"It offers businesses the flexibility and scalability of the public cloud while having their infrastructure on-premises."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to grow into a lower price point at some point in time."
"It has made our organization's capacity management efforts so much better. Usually, engineers need to take time to worry about firmware updates and and getting that stuff done. However, that falls to the wayside, knowing with GreenLake's data center management and data center support that all the firmware has been tested for all the equipment that you have. When you apply the updates, nothing should go wrong, because it has already been fully tested."
"It is the flexible way to pay for everything that you need and pay as you go."
"We have a service and cost model based on utilization for specific KPIs, measured by memory and storage, with no costs for CPU consumption. This approach has allowed us to manage and optimize utilization and consumption effectively."
"The solution integrates well with Dell, Cisco switches, or other switches."
"The speed of the product is quite a bit better in performance than the previous peer environment we were running on, and it seems to have a better feature set."
"We have snapshots. We put snapshots on disks, and we can save information. In the case of ransomware, everything is in the snapshot. We have a snapshot lock on it, so it's safe."
"The speed of the product is quite a bit better in performance than the previous environment we were running on, and it seems to have a better feature set."
"The Evergreen program is excellent, and the pricing is quite reasonable. My friends who work there are doing very well and consistently achieving strong results. Like any company, they experience occasional downturns but perform impressively overall."

Cons

"There is a need for improved support in HPE GreenLake, including more administrators and engineers to provide faster resolution for issues."
"Both times that we've had to increase the hardware, the deployment took way longer than expected. In addition, we haven't yet gotten to a use point where the cost is below what it would cost us to provision the same set of services on HPE hardware outside of the GreenLake service."
"HPE GreenLake can improve by making some of the user's experience better. It can take some time to learn."
"The support service needs improvement. The support team isn't very active in addressing cases. It should also provide a web application."
"I am still struggling with monitoring, particularly with OpsRamp, which is not fully customized to our needs, especially for disaster recovery."
"I would like to have more detail in the monitoring."
"Part of the integration, with cutting things over to Unisys, may have hurt us a bit. We had a couple of rough implementations earlier this year. Part of that was due to some internal system changes on HPE's side. We are keeping an eye on this to make sure it doesn't happen again."
"There could be better monitoring of growth and threshold usage so users could be more aware when their billing will change."
"I'm not sure if any improvements are needed."
"To me, I think it's a little expensive. Then again, you get what you pay for."
"It would be nice to have support in Swedish."
"The only potential drawback is that Pure Storage might be overkill if you don't need microsecond response times."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Right now we're paying about $180,000 per year."
"HPE GreenLake has been growing in popularity due to its subscription model. The flexibility of the solution allows it to adapt to the changing market trends towards more edge performance and workloads."
"Pricing is based on usage plateaus. The more you use, the more you pay."
"The price could be more flexible."
"In terms of pricing, it's a bit on the higher side."
"It's a small cost per month compared to that one-time purchase. The big thing is if you get your one-time purchase wrong, then you are buying a lot more. With GreenLake, if we miss estimate (which with all the planning, you usually don't), we sign a piece of paper, and then they send more equipment in."
"Our first year costs were approximately $1.2 million instead of spending five to six million dollars."
"HPE GreenLake payment model is you pay for what you use. You can purchase a yearly, quarterly, or half-year license. The overall price of the solution is a little high and hopeful there can be better margins in the future."
"The pricing is very good."
